There is never a bad time for Gnome jokes!

Goblin Squad Member

What do you call a psionic gnome escaped from prison?

A Small Medium at Large!

Goblin Squad Member

A gnome who joined a nudist colony was asked to leave because he kept poking his nose into everybody’s business.

Goblin Squad Member

Three gnomes were lost in the wilds. Suddenly they were captured by a whole tribe of goblins. The goblin's shaman told the gnomes that they could live if they passed a trial. The first step of the trial was to go to the forest and collect ten pieces of the same kind of fruit. So all three gnomes went separate ways to gather their fruit.

The first gnome came back and said to the Shaman: "I've brought ten apples." The shaman explained the trial to him. It involved stuffing all of the fruit... somewhere... where fruit usually doesn't go. In fact, fruit usually leaves from there. And if the gnome showed any emotion at all, the goblin shaman insured him that he would be killed and made into dinner.

The first apple went in... but on the second, the poor gnome winced in pain. And so, he was killed and made into a gnomish luau.

The second gnome arrived and showed the shaman ten blackberries (lucky him!). When the shaman explained the trial to the dwarf, the little bearded guy thought to himself that this should be easy. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... and on the ninth berry he burst out in laughter. The goblins dined on blackberry gnome cobbler for dessert that evening.

The first gnome and the second met in the halls of their goddess. The first one asked: "Why did you laugh, you almost got away with it?". The second one replied: "I couldn't help it. I saw the third guy coming with pineapples!"

Kit I think it's a good time to step in with the stunty jokes?!

Oh, do I hear dwarf jokes? Or just short jokes?

Goblin Squad Member

I would like to invite The Kingdom of Aeternum to join with us in creating and signing The Treaty of Rovagug.

-Andius Meuridiar, Grand Master of The Empyrean Order

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks for the invite, Andius.

And as to the subject of jokes, if ya can't laugh at yourself then you got more serious problems than bein' the butt of a joke ;) Bring that stunty humor, we got big shoulders, so heap it on :P

Well Met,

I briefly read through you lengthy introduction, and I was quite impressed. Although we are at different ends of the Lawful vs Chaos spectrum, I respect the fact that you do not come off as pompous. A trait most Lawful Goods have difficulty shedding.

What I enjoyed most was the story of your guild's lineage through many MMOs. That is something I will steal from you, but then, imitation is the best form of flatery.

I wish you luck in your endeavors, at least those that don't directly conflict with ours. I'm sure that there will be a time when you may need to call upon The UnNamed Company, and it would be an honor to serve, provided a suitable price is offered.

If we do honor just one thing, it is our contracts. Especially those contracts that request discreet involvement and no connections back to our employer. Just something to bear in mind for future consideration.

We have actually since the inception of the front page maneuvered to NG, and will honestly look at our options throughout the many months we have before us.

Our community is one of the primary definers of who we are. If you are in a similar position, it would be silly not to point out the advantages that brings.

A well written contract is a great thing. We might not be able to engage in such dealings, but I can appreciate the good business behind the premise.

I look forward to seeing the UnNamed in Golarion, and what that will bring to the table.

Cheers,

Dak

Actually, you won't see the "UnNamed", that would be like someone wearing a sign around their neck that read "Crime Boss".

But, you can rest assured, we will be out there and we will come knocking when you need us.

Well as this looks a little interesting I guess I will have to swell the Paxian ranks and chuck the makers a few coppers.

To the person who has my normal forum name of "Pagan" I will find you and show you what a cheese grater is really for :)

Pagan is a member that originally applied for our TSW division. He is a pretty outstanding dude, with a pretty outstanding beard.

Welcome to the application process Zen. If you decide to apply, Bjorn will be around very soon to process the application and get you started.

Best of luck over the next two weeks, and I look forward to seeing your app.

Hello Again Everyone!

Its been a crazy, exciting, and forward moving week for Aeternum. We have been working hard both behind the scenes and in front of it in an effort to build the best force possible moving forward. Our ambassador teams began filling itself out this week, and we began heading out to the greater PFO community. We also built forums and specific permissions to allow the community to come to us to discuss friendships, alliances, civil disagreements, and more. A new addition to our structure was added, namely the title of Thane-Blade and the department that is under. We also have a recruit that is on his very last day, so make sure to stop in his thread. We also have announced our heraldry, promoted a new thane, as well as appointed our first emissary. The foundation of our diplomatic agreements, the Pax Aeternum Contract was also announced during this time.

This leads us to our newest announcement, and it has us stoked for our future. When we promoted Ezikial to his current position, our very next goal was to begin building him a team so that we could continue to move forward with our brand of professional diplomacy. He quickly identified Beilian as a diplomatic talent and assigned him emissary duties. Also during this time a prominent leader of our Pax Gaming community began to communicate an interest to participate directly with the growth and continued success of Aeternum. This leads us to our newest announcement, Thorne as our newest ambassador!

Thorne is a former guild leader of our Pax Dominus - TOR division. He was promoted to the lead this republic guild back in June of 2012, and lead the division all the way up to a couple of weeks ago. He then identified the talent to replace him and worked with the rest of the Inner Council to make sure the division was left in great hands before stepping down.

Thorne was a council member, or co-leader of that division before taking over leadership. He has honestly held some form of leadership position within Pax since shortly before making it through his recruitment process. He has been a rector, an officer, a hierarch, and Inner Council. He has a firm grasp of what it is to be apart of this community, how we choose to present ourselves, and the care we take in order to maintain our professionalism. He has such a firm grasp on those ideals that when he chose to step down, Pax Gaming Leadership then chose to bestow honorary Inner Council status. This position can be held indefinitely, or until that honorary IC leader decides to take up a leadership position again.

That is exactly what Thorne has done. Its another selling point for the guy, but he openly and easily offered to step down to a warden / officer level position so that we can utilize his talents. Its a tradition in Pax that we attempt to promote those that would honestly be showing the same initiative no matter what position they held. While we are an oligarchy, we very much promote based on a meritocracy.

These considerations, coupled with Thorne's real world experience as a teacher, mentor, council man, and worksite mediator we knew that we had identified the specific area of skill sets required to take over Krow's officer position.

Thank you, High Thane Thunderkeg, Thane-Blade Krows, and all of Pax Aeternum for the honor bestowed upon me to take up the reins of Ambassador. I'd like to extend a generous welcome to all the Chartered Companies, Kingdoms, and individuals of PfO! I encourage any and all to come by and say hello, and feel free to contact me if you're interested in starting a dialogue between our Kingdom and yours.

Goblin Squad Member

Well written, My Thane. I am honored to have you as Ambassador, Thorne; you are truly an asset to our Kingdom, as you have been to Pax Gaming for a long time.

Goblin Squad Member

It will be nice to have you with us, Thorne! Can't wait to work with you on getting this kingdom up and running!

Lots of fun stuff happening at Pax and within PfO, sorry if I've been neglectful I just wasn't sure yet of my interest in PfO, now that I am I hope to be around here a lot more.

Greetings,

We decided to stop by and say hi, thank you wyldthorne for reaching out to our not so humble group, our minions will be pleased to know Aeternum has such wonderfully friendly folks.

Welcome Valthalion!

Goblin Squad Member

Thank you all. I have been requested to share my recruitment experience here and have struggled a bit on how best to accomplish. I have decided that a bit of history with respect to previous guilds for I have been associated will best illustrate why i chose to apply to Pax and what i got of the trial period.

Online gaming began for me a couple months after everquest released with a bunch of RL friends forming the guild Alliance of the Griffin. This name had represented our group for some years previous so was the logical choice. Initially the guild was effective and fun, but over time additional people were added and in the end, like so many guilds hence, it devolved into drama / decrees and an overall mess. Some left. Some ignored it. Some railed futilely against the injustice of it all.

Looking back, I see now that most of the issues were introduced by recent additions; friends of friends, group acquaintances and etc, and had they guild not wanted to expand (big is better you know.../sigh) and been more careful with whom they invited in, things may have gone far differently.

From that point on, i was very careful about guilds I joined, aiming for smaller guilds with an age range skewed to the higher end. I find older people are more tired of drama / conflict and more apt to discuss issues instead of ranting. I also kept some characters in game unguilded so that if the guild hit a rough patch or imploded I could log on anonymously and avoid the tension.

Reading that last paragraph, i see how it could be interpreted as selfish in some ways, avoiding an issue rather than facing it and trying to help. And I have no good argument against that claim. However, I dont logon to lotro, eve, eq, eq2, wow, and other over they years to experience the same level of frustration and angst that i can get for free at work...where at least my anxiety attacks are compensated twice a month via direct deposit.

And that is why I am so hopeful that Pax Aeternum, well Pax in general, will be a very different experience.

The PFO Kickstarter had lightened my pocketbook and I was following it daily, reading dev blogs and getting really excited about the level of user impact on the world. I also realized that the open PvP, even with some kind of EVE style police to enforce security in some areas, personal safety is achieved only if you are part of a force with sufficient numbers to deter the enemy.

So, i began to look into the chartered companies with an eye toward one that would focus on crafting. The first i happened to encounter was something about Bread Baking...i forget the details, but while humorously written, and not doubt populated by some nice people, it lacked the gravitas for long term viability. Of the largest CCs in the land rush, there were some stark differences in structure and philosophy. I did a lot of forum and website reading before I decided Pax was the one.

What drew me was how well organized and how active they were on their website and these forums. The amount of "rules" was kind of offputting at first, but as i read more, I realized they were not there to pigeon hole or restrict play styles, but to provide roles for people to fill, and set expectations on guild and personal behavior. I realized that much like a public corporation, Pax was guarding its brand name and making sure that any individuals accepted into the clan would continue to represent Pax appropriately. This I admired. It seems simple now that I think about it, but I have encountered no other guilds with such focus.

Another factor was longevity. Pax was instantiated in 2001 and has existed continuously since then. With a decade of stability, the odds of it continuing are high.

Transition. Change. Those are hard words for a lot of people and even harder words for organizations. Pax has rules on how to transition leadership roles form one person to another. Anyone who has had a leadership role in a guild knows it takes a large commitment of time and real life events can take that time away. A job change or a birth of a kid and suddenly the hours spent leading an online group are now required for the changing of diapers, cleaning of spit-up, burping of bubbles, wondering why the crying wont stop. The procedure to step down iis documented and provides for an orderly transition of leadership. Hell, I wish most countries operated as efficiently.

So I applied and that lead to a 2 week trial period where you get to know the people involved, get asked any number of interesting and thought provoking questions and learn whether or not you are likely to be a good fit for the Pax community. I wont go in to details, but if new questions didnt show up each day, i was mildly disappointed as I like the off the wall / out of the blue type queries.

One note. I was the first to apply to Pax for a "non existent" game, so part of the normal procedure where you see if in game behavior / play styles mesh was absent. So I guess we are both taking a bit more of a risk than normal, but I am comfortable with my choice and I hope the future shows that Pax chose wisely.

Goblin Squad Member

Awesome post Val and congrats on finishing the recuitment process. 1 more week to go for me.

Welcome Val,

I joined Pax not so long ago for the launch of TSW and I have yet to regret the decision, they are a nice bunch and drama free so far. I noticed you have started playing Lotro now so now doubt I will run across you in middle earth some time

Thanks Spraga.

We work hard to separate Aeternum interests from the podcast format. We don't make it a secret that it is being produced and funded by Pax Gaming. We do try to make sure people understand that we are NOT endorsed by Pax Aeternum, if that makes any sense. Because its a project for entertainment and the community, we generally won't advertise it here.

That said it has been a blast for us so far. We just finished our first two primary recordings, and we are looking forward to seeing how everyone enjoys this week's first Community Spotlight.

I myself have been excited to be a part of Pax and do what I can to further the goals of such a beautiful community. I have hardly been in my two weeks and already felt welcomed beyond belief. Even ended up more involved than I expected so early, even if my contribution is small.

I cannot say I know many of their members as well as I would like just yet. Maybe it is just the effort so many put into this group, but even in my short amount of time around them, I cannot help but feel pride in being a member.

With a bit of work, and perhaps a small amount of luck, I can continue being a part of Pax far into the foreseeable future.

I think you'll fit in just fine :) Welcome.

Welcome and congratulations also to Ruick, who just recently made it through the recruitment process. We were all seriously impressed with the attention you put into your recruitment, and look forward to gaming with you in months to come before EE!

Goblin Squad Member

Hello to all,
I am Valcili a recent recruit for Pax in hopes of joining the family and playing by you side with the release of PFO EE, I am writing this later than I should be as I over sighted the request to introduce myself from Dak (there was a big flood of requests in the first days of my application and I missed the last part from Dak...anyway.....
I had first heard of the second kick starting when I was perusing the inter-webs one day and got very excited when I heard how it was going to be all sand boxy and stuff. Heh so I decided to back them because it sounded very much up my ally in things I wanted to play. once I backed them it came time to start my own guild, or CC well sadly I was not able to convince my other friends on the awesomeness of this game and they would not back it especially with it being near 2 years before release. well needless to say if they won't back it they will not be joining the game for EE so I instead went on the search for a new guild family of like minded individuals. I looked through most of the top contenders right now, and after reading what they had to say I felt as though Pax was the best fit. everything I was looking for was here, with a strong history of games and following through to the end was something I was looking for and just couldn't find.

Pax became the focus of my attention so I went to the site and looked a bit more, and soon became certain that this is where I wanted to settle in. looking over the application process too helped me want to settle here, as it is obvious Pax is serious and takes special consideration to hw they allow into their family.
I plan to be a "Ranger-esk" type character, and will be joining the Watch CC once EE starts.

If anyone cares to know more about me or the character I'll be running in PFO feel free to come visit and review my Application here
