Channel Force Feats from Advanced Race Guide

Several questions about the Channel Force feat line for Aasimars in the Advanced Race Guide.

#1 How does the push work exactly? Is it a Bull Rush? Does it require any kind of Combat Manuever roll?

#2 If not does the usual save against Channel Energy apply only to the damage or also to the push/pull effect of Channel Force?

#3 If the person is pushed/pulled into a barrier, I'm assuming they fall prone. Does it also deal damage as a fall if they are stopped short?

#4 As this is a force effect does it impact incorporeal creatures normally?

#5 Lastly, does movement from being pushed/pulled provoke attacks of opportunity?

#1 It moves the target 5’ for every 2d6 of damage you can inflict with Channel Energy. It is not a bull rush. It is a variation of the Channel Energy effect. There is no Combat Maneuver roll, it is only successful if the target(s) fails the Channel Energy save.

#2 The target(s) make one save vs Channel Energy, failure applies full damage and the push or pull effect. Success means half damage and no push/pull.

#3 I don’t understand why hitting a barrier would knock them prone, unless the ‘barrier’ is a trap that trips you and is triggered by entering its square – and would imo require its own CMD roll (vs the trap). Fall damage…aside from being very complicated (can the foe use an acrobatics check, what are they ‘falling’ into, etc) you’re only adding 1d6/10’, and you need to be level 7 to move them 10’, and you’ll max out at 20’ at level 15 – all for an extra 2d6 damage – reduced to a possible 1d6 if you allow acrobatics. Probably not worth the headache.

#4 It is not a force effect. It specifically will affect anything that you can harm with Channel Energy.

#5 I would say no. Move actions provoke AoO’s, but this is involuntary movement, not a reckless action the target is taking. Making a target provoke AoO’s from involuntary movement via Combat Maneuvers takes 3 Feats (Pre Req, Improved, Greater) so doing it with one feat would be very imbalanced. If your GM rules otherwise, squint and cackle manically.

Interesting sidenote, because it is not a combat maneuver you can use it to push/pull opponents into hazards/traps/off cliffs, etc. Just be ready for when your GM uses it against your PC's in retaliation.

These feats are best utilized with the Versatile Channel feat.

Silver Crusade

Ah, bbt, I can always count on you for devastating NPC inspiration.

Ability Focus helps as well.

Channel Foci give you more options as well.

By the way, thanks.

Thanks Booksy. Where'd you get your information from?

d20pfsrd is a good source. These feats work well with a PC who has the Caves subdomain, as they have access to all the nasty Pit spells.

Basically, create pits, and shove them in the pits.

What about healing all your allies and pulling/ pushing?
