Fallout Pen & paper?

Shadow Lodge

Does anyone know if there is a fallout pen & paper out there somewhere? I have been looking into the fallout universe and gotten excited to build a game for my local gaming group and was wondering if one existed or not. Also any information on how it works and what system it runs would be very beneficial.

Google before asking? it was the first result for fallout d20.

If that doesn't work, I think Shadowrun could be adopted to run something like Fallout.

Ehh my plan was to use the CoC system and building out from there if I couldn't find anything.

Savage Worlds might be a good starting point as well, especially since the system uses a deck of cards and poker chips it may tie in neatly with Fallout New Vegas.

Originally it was designed with the plan of using the GURPS system for the actual game, and you can still see some holdouts there, but something fell apart with the licensing during the development of the original Fallout in the 90s. So you could probably use GURPS, but I used Chaosium's BRP, to do my "Fallout with magic" game I ran and it provided a pretty good sense of the flavor.

Well the plan is to set it in my hometown where we can use the universe but impart our cities feel on it which kind of throws the savage worlds concept out the window. I always felt like the strength of fallout was how unique all the societies of the games were to the region and had roots in their history so if we were to play in say ohio it would feel so different from new vegas yet still fit to fallout.

It'd be interesting to search to see if anyone's ever created a Fallout P'n'P RPG that uses a variation of the SPECIAL system.

Although BRP would be a great system to ouse just for the sake of simplicity.

Yeah it's a little surprising bethesda hasn't done something with it already but so far I've been having fun fiddling around with it and love the options the sanity mechanic brings to the table for fallout games. Nothing like having a player lose it after a feral ghoul shears a player limb from limb and start running down the halls shooting and screaming game over man!

Using the Modern Path rules works pretty well. I am in a game of Fallout right now that is using both the Modern Path and Pathfinder ruleset. We are fiddling with it as we go along, but it has been a blast so far.

I own this.

It is not too bad, based on the D20 system. I checked their website too, also sold out.

This guy had the license to initially do a FallOut PnP, but lost it when Bethesda took over, and released this game, with some minor changes, including a name change. Maybe Ebay?

Our group is using a converted d20 star wars version (the last version that wizards produced). Its a lot of work and is still a work in process

Exodus _IS_ the Fallout RPG. They had a deal with the original publishers of Fallout (after their deal with GURPS fell through), but their license failed before they could get Exodus out the door. So, they had to change the name and some details.

But, if a "Fallout RPG" is what you want, Exodus is it.

As Malach points out, it's a bit sold-out for print copies. However, Drivethru / rpgnow have the PDF's.

I played in a fallout savage worlds game for a while, and really enjoyed it. the fast play style of savage worlds lends nicely to the setting.

Fallout pnp In case someone hasn't already linked this, the SPECIAL SYSTEM as a pnp game

2 people marked this as a favorite.

There was a game put out independently by some of the guys who worked on the first game, and then an update was actually done by a Matthew Standley. They also have some source book and 3rd party extensions. I have rewritten the rules to actually work in play (lots of broken things) here at [https://falloutbyunderableedingsun.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page]Special Fallout.[/url]

I have all the source and 3rd party material as well. If you message me here and give me your email I can talk about giving it to you.

The only issue is, its a D100 system. My buddy Robert made a maptools framework that runs the game beautifully. With the framework running the game is a cinch, without it I imagine it would be a nightmare. I can send you the map with tons of macros too.

Actually nearing the end of our first campaign, and I'm planning my next game now.

All of the options mentioned are great.

That said, if you want a system that is story-driven, cinematic and light; may I propose Atomic Highway by Radioactive Ape Designs?

All the rules you ll need for a Rage/Mad Max style setting are in the core book and there is an upcoming supplement with rules for: Retro Tech, cybernetics and zombies called Gunmetal Road.

I know this is an old post so please forgive me for reopening it. What I am wondering is if anyone has this Fallout D100 Maptools Framework and loadout with macros? If so I would really like to get it from you because I am looking to run my own Campaign using the rules from the link above.

Fallout or a Fallen Earth based PnP RPG would be great. I'd prefer a stand alone system, not a supplement for use with another system.

If post apocalyptic is really your thing, I've also seen that Myfarog 2.0 has a supplement called "The Coming" that came out last month. I've read / heard some positive reviews of that as well.

Modiphius puts out a Mutant Chronicles based RPG, using their 2d20 system. I've only recently started playing REH's Conan RPG and I've found the 2D20 system to be an excellent gaming system.
