Question regarding guns

Pathfinder Society

Liberty's Edge

I had a question about buying guns in society. I play a gunslinger so I have gunsmithing and from what I understand that lets me buy bullets at half price. but I was wondering if that offered any discount for actual guns. more specifically I've been saving for a revolver which is normally 4,000gp. Does gunsmithing alter the price at all or am I stuck saving my pennies for the next couple levels?

Get a piggybank.

Also remember that your guns count as magic items for purposes of item acquisition, so keep your fame up.

Guns are exspensive. If you are planing on taking other classes with Gunslinger, you might want to start with those until you can afford what you want.

Also you can't buy a revolver as it's an advanced firearm and they are banned for PFS play.

I believe there is one gun that is merely 740 gp, and therefore available for 2 prestige points instead. Dagger pistol if I recall.

Liberty's Edge

unfortunately gunsmithing gives no half off discount to buy a new gun in PFS. and like big norse wolf says-- in the first few levels at least, even tougher then having the actual money is having enough fame to actually be able to spend it.

Yup, found it.

Pistol, dagger - 740 gp - 1d4/x3 - 10 ft.

I had a player at GenCon who had spent all his prestige loading up on these. Instead of Rapid Reload, he made use of spring-loaded wrist sheathes. When he had fired one, he would throw it with the dagger end, and because they count as firearms, his mysterious stranger bonus applied to that too.

I was impressed.

I wonder what a Mysterious Stranger / Knife-Master (Rogue) could do with this...

Considering how useless ranged sneak attack tends to be, probably not much. I encourage you to try it though.

Actually, is masterwork transformation legal now? That might make the 2 pp dagger pistol slightly more worthwhile. I'm trying to figure out which is better with a single level of mysterious stranger: weaponmaster or divine hunter.

You might like this guide I stumbled on a few weeks ago re: Mysterious Stranger / Divine Hunter.

(Read to the bottom where the writer talks about MS 1 / DH 4 as a build - I think it's pretty good).

It is legal, but a PC can only have one Masterwork Transformation spell persistant for him at a time.

A little better, but it still "costs" more than an outright purchase, and you would still need the appropriate Fame total to make a firearm masterwork.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well, at least it's a way to get one of those dagger pistols upgraded. The 2pp buying of them is only until you have enough fame to get proper masterwork ones anyway. Not that I'm crazy enough to try this build, but

Crazy dagger pistolier:
Halfling gunslinger (mysterious stranger) 1/paladin (divine hunter) 1/fighter (weaponmaster) 10

Str 10, Dex 17, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 10, Cha 17

gun 1 Two-Weapon Fighting
pal 2 Precise Shot
fig 3 Deadly Aim, Weapon Focus (dagger pistol)
fig 4 Quick-Draw, Dex +1
fig 5 Point-Blank Shot
fig 6 Improved Two-Weapon Fighting
fig 7 Weapon Specialization (dagger pistol)
fig 8 Rapid Shot, Cha +1
fig 9 Far Shot
fig10 Greater Weapon Focus (dagger pistol)
fig11 Greater Two-Weapon Fighting
fig12 Improved Critical (dagger pistol) Dex +1
