Theologian archetype

Rules Questions

I have a question about the Theologian archetype. Let’s say my Theologian archetype character take the Fire Domain.

Can I use Focused Domain to increase her cleric level for her domain spell? i.e. Burning Hands and Fireball…

That's exactly how it works. You don't gain access to those domain spells any sooner, but you cast them as though you're 2 levels higher.

Ssalarn, thank you for your reply.

I have another question.

So I take 5 level of cleric. Then take 3 levels of Diabolist, which gives her +3 levels of existing spellcasting class (Cleric). She cast a fireball from her domain spell. How many dice is that fireball. It is 8d6 or 10d6?

I believe it should be 10d6 since Diabolist is advancing your caster level. You effectively cast spells as an 8th level cleric since Diabolist increases your caster level, and then any effects adjusting your Caster level would apply as normal.

Focused Domain: "All level-dependent effects of the granted powers from the theologian's domain function as if she were two cleric levels higher than her actual cleric level."

The domain powers for the Fire Domain are Fire Bolt (Sp) and Fire Resistance (Ex).

Focused Domain means each of those two powers work as if you were 2 cleric levels higher.

At level 1 your Fire Bolt will deal 2d6 damage.

At level 10, your Fire Resistance increases to 20.

Domain Spells are not Domain Powers.

You function as caster level 8. A CL8 fireball usually deals 8d6 fire damage.

Ah, good catch Grick. For some reason I could have sworn it said "level dependent effects of domain spells and abilities".

Grick,

Thanks you. That makes a lot of sense.

By the way, a Theologian's first level Fire Bolt would be 1d6+1

Fire Bolt (Sp): "If you hit the foe, the fire bolt deals 1d6 points of fire damage + 1 point for every two cleric levels you possess."
