Been a while since I've had any time to paint, but I've started prepping some figs for some speed painting. Still need to clean up the excess sand and I missed a few spots priming.

Apologies for the cellphone pics.

Tre manor goblins

They will be painted to match these ones: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A_vbCZ9CIAACMNQ.jpg:large http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/i/at/at2/2013/1/29/db388a97063d54040f48d564e1ef 4b6a_61721.jpg

Hopefully have time this week and next.

Oh, I really want my RGB minis! They're just so cool.

Patrik’s Miniature Painting Project 2013, week 50
Two more regular paintjobs and four quickdips this week. The regular ones are two great miniatures from Hasslefree, Alicia and Boudi.

* Alicia, from Hasslefree Miniatures
Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3

* Boudi, from Hasslefree Miniatures
Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3

Quickdips!
* Clay Golem, from Reaper Miniatures Bones Line, Picture
* Flesh Golem, from Reaper Miniatures Bones Line, Picture
* Stone Golem, from Reaper Miniatures Bones Line, Picture
* Mummy, from Reaper Miniatures Bones Line, Picture

And with those miniatures I close the 2013 version of my miniature painting project. The end result was 100 regular paintjobs and 150 quickdips. Not bad, not bad at all. Next year I will concentrate more on quickdips in an effort to fill out the “rank and file” part of my miniature collection.

Nice job on the 100 paints, Patrick. Grats. I did like your choice in miniatures, you have many figurines that I would like to pick up myself.

Congrats on a productive 2013 Patrick! I have thoroughly enjoyed your weekly posts and pictures. Keep them coming!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to next year. Eager to see how many figures I can finish when I concentrate on quickdips.

Patrik, I don't check this thread nearly enough. I get Dropbox 404 when I try to look at your older image posts, from September or so.

I just put the Reaper Minis Santa Claus on a base tonight, and I mixed too much green stuff so I also based the Reaper Chronoscope Devil Girl mini I had clean. And now I'm out of the 1-inch bases I like so will need to buy more. I put some finishing touches on the archer woman from Elmore Masterworks Set #9 as well, though she may still get some touch-ups before her final finishing coat.

Love what you're doing with the DDM minis. Kind of makes me want to touch mine up, especially some of the ones that are just abysmal super-commons.

It definitely took a while, but I've been painting one of Reaper's big Bones dragons. Behold; Argentwroth:

Yeah, I've been reorganizing my dropbox a few times, so some of the old links are broken. However, I've made a summary of 2013 with the right links, which I've planned to post for a few days but couldn't find the time. I will post it now though.

Thanks! The thing with the DDM minis are that the sculpts are often quite nice, and at times even fantastic. I think the Flesh golem (can't remember which series but it also appears in the Castle Ravenloft board game) is a good example of this.

This is a summary of my miniature painting project of 2013. All and all there should be 100 “regular” paintjobs and 150 quickdips. I've also rephotographed some of the miniatures, so there might be some miniatures that are out of sync with the original post (like the celtic warriors). Also all quickdipped miniatures that were photographed with another miniatures not of the same type has gotten its own photograph.

New year, new rules, same project! Since I still have a ridiculous heap of unpainted miniatures I’m going to continue my quest to get them all (or at least the majority of them) finished. This year I’ve decided to concentrate on quantity, speed paint and quickdips.

Main goals for 2014.
Finish 300 miniatures in total.
If I buy a miniature in 2014 it needs to be finished* in 2014 (kickstarters excluded)
Finish at least 4 miniatures a week** (that doesn’t add up to 300 total but the four miniatures is just a minimum)

*:
In the case of multi figure plastic sets a minimum of 12 figures should be finished (as I don’t wargame I don’t need the full 24-40 miniatures the multi part figure sets usually come in)

**:
Weeks in which I’m not home are excluded

Sub goals for 2014.
Finish at least 50 regularly (non-speedpaint/quickdip) painted miniatures
Finish last years metal miniature purchases (numbers might decline if I decide to sell or otherwise dispose of miniatures I feel that I don’t need, like many of the Stonehaven Dwarven Adventurers)
- Warlord games metal miniatures (4)
- Hasslefree Miniatures (5)
- Games Workshop (2)
- Game Zone (1)
- Darksword Miniatures (3)
- Otherworld Miniatures (23)
- Stonehaven (19)
- West Wing (4)
- Red Box Games (7)
Finish last years speed paint purchases (numbers might decline if I decide to sell or otherwise dispose of miniatures I feel that I don’t need, like many of the modern Bones miniatures)
- Reaper Miniatures Bones Kickstarter (228)
- Warlord Games (42)
- DDM (2)
- Mantic Games (11)
- Pathfinder Battles (37)
Paint my RGB Helsvakt Miniatures (8)
Paint my RGB Njorn Miniatures (12)

I’m fairly confident that I’m going to be able to reach my two main goals for 2014 and it will be interesting to see how many of my subgoals I’ll be able to reach.
Which brings me to the first painted miniatures of 2014. I’ve started a bunch of miniatures but only finished 4. Starting with Mr Bones as a symbol of my intent of finishing my Reaper Bones Kickstarter Reward. The rest are three quickdipped miniatures, one Bones and two Pathfinder Battles.

* Mr Bones, from Reaper Miniatures Bones, Picture
* Giant Caveweaver Spider, from Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Toad Demon, from Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Troll, from Reaper Miniatures Bones, Picture

I think I'm also going to skip the weekly updates, and just post each mini (or group of miniatures) when I've got them finished and photoed.

After a slow start things have taken off. This week I managed to finish 24 (22 in time to photo) miniatures. Needless to say that’s a personal best :) I keep getting amazed with how fast and easy quickdipping is. I didn’t have high hopes for the bones kobolds, but now that I’ve finished them they look far better than I thought they would.

* Goblins, from the HeroQuest boardgame, Picture
* Lizardman Spearman, from Reaper Miniatures, Picture
* Kobold Spearmen, from Reaper Miniatures, Picture

For those of you thinking about giving quickdipping a try, here is a Heroquest goblin basecoated and here he is after being dipped in Army Painters strong tone quick dip (+ a coat of Valljeo brush on matt varnish).

Hey long time no post.

After a pretty long break I decided to paint some more stuff.

Cool! I really like the kobolds.

Just realized that I haven't updated this thread in a long while. This is what I've finished since last time (in (sort of) chronological order):

* Deathjump Spider, DDM, Picture
* Shoggoth, Reaper Bones, Picture

* Bronn, Darksword Miniatures (not really happy with this one, I really screwed up the face)
Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3

* Amazon Warriors, Wargames Factory, Picture
* Batswarm, Reaper Bones, Picture
* Battleguard Golem, Reaper Bones, Picture
* Beetles, Reaper Bones, Picture
* HeroQuest Chaos Warriors, Games Workshop?, Picture
* HeroQuest Orcs, Games Workshop?, Picture
* Timber Wolf, DDM, Picture
* Vargauille, DDM, Picture
* Werewolf, Reaper Bones, Picture

* Theon Greyjoy, Darksword Miniatures (much happier with this one)
Picture 1, Picture 2

* Beetle swarms, Reaper Bones, Picture
* Spiders, Reaper Bones, Picture
* Teutonic Infantry, Fireforge Games, Picture

* Fell Warg, Games Workshop, Picture
* Fell Warg, Games Workshop, Picture
* Greenvise Vine, DDM, Picture

I've done another rearrangement of my dropbox folder structure which is going to result in some more broken links. Fixed links for the broken once of painted miniatures this year.

* Giant Caveweaver Spider, from Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Toad Demon, from Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Swarm of Spiders, from DDM, Picture

For what it's worth, here's what I was painting this weekend.

Patrik Ström wrote:

Oh that spider looks great. I'd let him wipe my party any day.

Still painting my Reaper Bones

and I have to hurry now cause it looks like I'm gonna get flooded with figs somewhere around April/May with Relic Knights and Kingdom Death Kickstarters finally shipping.

I'm a fair bit behind with posting updates. So here is a bunch of finished miniatures:

* Skaven Nightrunners, Games Workshop, Picture

* Blade Spider, DDM, Picture

a wood elves blood bowl team

the last 2 long fang packs for my space wolves

repainting the doubles I received when ordering the prepainted figurines for the Wrath of the Righteous campaign

a bunch of chaos warhounds

I am almost finished painting Kaladrax, the Reaper Bones skeletal Dragon. Just have the details of his wing left to do

Glad you are still at it Patrik! I love looking at your painted minis!

What kind of game setting do you use? You definitely have a varied miniature collection!

Thanks! Game setting (and system) varies from time to time. Recently the settings have been Warhammer (using WHFRP 3ed), Hârn (using Hârnmaster 3ed) and currently Middle Earth (using The One Ring). Will probably try out Shadows of Esteren once that's over. I'm a big fan of Savage Worlds and hope to try out Beasts and Barbarians (hence the romans) and The Savage World of Solomon Kane somewhere in the future.

Managed to finish another miniature. No quickdip this time:

* Ragnar of Utherby (original sculpt), Red Box Games
Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3

Even more progress (up to 136 painted miniatures so far, including four I finished today)!

First some zulu warriors from Warlord Games that I hope to some day be chasing PCs in a Savage World of Solomon Kane game.
* Unmarried Zulus, Warlord Games, Picture, Picture

Then we have some Pathfinder Battles goblins that I painted in panic last monday when I realized I only had one evening that week to finish at least 4 miniatures.

* Chuffy Lickwound, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Poog, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Reta Bigbad, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Vorka, Pathfinder Battles, Picture

I guess I will jump in here. Forgive my photography, or lack thereof...

Some of these I've had so long, that I don't remember the names and/or the manufacturer, but I will try.

So to start:
Ameiko Kaijitsu, Reaper
Front Side Rear

And one more familiar face:
A blond Amiri, Reaper
Front Rear

More next week...

A few more quickdips:

New updates. This time I actually got some “real” painting finished in the form of four Hasslefree Miniatures.

* Gymnast, Hasslefree Miniatures - I got this one as a freebie in a order that got delayed. It’s been sitting on the “to do”-pile for quite some time so I finally took the time to finish it.

* Felicity, Hasslefree Miniatures - I’m really happy with how this figure turned out. If I ever play in a zombie apocalypse game this will be my character
Picture 1, Picture 2
* Gina, Hasslefree Miniatures - Kind of a speed paint. I think the sculpt deserves more attention that I gave it, but still I’m kind of pleased with the result. I should have been more careful with the blacklining in particular.
Picture 1, Picture 2
* Rae, Hasslefree Miniatures - Same here as with Gina. Speedpaint that could have used more attention.

And some quickdips!

Patrik, have you seen this video on painting stockings on female minis? Haven;t tried it myself, but those Hasslefree minis might be a great opportunity to try it out?

Cool, thanks for the tip! I'm going to have to keep it in mind for the future. I've had some thoughts of trying something similar but haven't put them into fruition yet. Probably going to be a while until I get to since I'm just concentrating on getting through my considerable pile of unpainted miniatures.

With that said I've made some more progress on that account:

* Barnabus Harrigan, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Doomguard, DDM, Picture
* Goblin Warchief, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Goblins, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Guiltspur Naga, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Kerdak Bonefist, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Korkrud, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Lamia Matriarch, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Lich Necromancer, DDM, Picture
* Morkmurian, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Reta’s Bridesmaid, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Shifter Claw Adept, DDM, Picture
* Tower Girl, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Yuan-Ti Anthema, DDM, Picture

Broke 200 miniatures last week. Only 100 left for my premier goal of 2014.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My quest for a smaller unpainted pile is progressing nicely, eventhough my reporting reflects otherwise. Having to seal the miniatures in matt varnish is really boring and puts a noticeable dent in my posting. I’ve got a few more miniatures that are waiting to get sealed and photographed.

* Goblin Warrior, Citadel Miniatures (?)

* Frodo wrapped up in cobwebs, Games Workshop

* Unknown Fighter, Prince August Miniatures (?)

* Tooth Gangers, Pathfinder Battles, Picture
* Celtic Warriors, Warlord Games, Picture
* Kings of War Revenants, Mantic Games, Picture

Once more, you are an inspiration Patrik! Wonderful work!

Another repaint of sasquatch heroclix miniature. Wodewose (inspired by Mossman from He-Man early 2000's cartoon).

My latest, sorry for potato pic, beer for scale

No idea what character Lamontia or I will use this for, but my queue was open and I rarely paint female minis so I thought I'd give it a shot

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the kind comments.

With this update I've almost caught up photowise. First we have some mundane quickdips:

* More Celtic Warriors, Warlord Games, Picture
* Uruk-Hai Scouts, Games Workshop, Picture

And finally somewhat of a cautionary tale. I tried to paint the miniatures for my copy of the Roborally game. Since it's game pieces that will see some wear and tear I wanted to seal them as much as possible. And it's here where I went overboard. I think I dunked these four times in Pledge Future Floor Wax, which I shouldn't have done. The floor wax I used is not the one I usually use so it miss colored one of the miniatures (the tank) and didn't dry up properly. I had to repaint some of them (the tank was pink at first) but this time there are bumps and knots left from the first series of floor wax bath. I'm thinking of getting another copy of the game just for the miniatures so I can do it again with better results.
