Paladin Abilities + Divine Focus

Rules Questions

Just a quick question and I'll let you all get back to rescuing maidens and wrecking taverns with loud, raging brawls...

What Paladin abilities require a Paladin's holy symbol to be present (not necessarily in hand, but present on his/her person)?

Channelling, obviously, but does a mercy require it? We have a Paladin that didn't bother getting a holy symbol for whatever reason and I want to call him out on it as a 'lesson'.

A lot of his spells may require a holy symbol as well.

Most of the Paladin abilities don't actually require a divine focus. Some of his spells may call for one, and Channel Energy, but that's about it. Part of this is because the core assumption doesn't even necessarily require Paladin's to have a deity.
From the PRD:
"Clerics gain spell power from deities or from divine forces. The divine force of nature powers druid and ranger spells, and the divine forces of law and good power paladin spells."

A Consecrated Weapon is great way to bypass the juggling of weapons and a Divine Focus.
