Plunder / Infamy and Gold

Skull & Shackles

Our group has just taken on the second AP and i was just wondering (without anyone giving spoilers)what are the best ways to get the three listed objectives in the title?

we have a ship boarded and there is some discussion on what to do with it! the ship is worth 10k but we have no infamy yet... and 2 plunder.

What should we do? what is easier to come by plunder, infamy or gold. What considerations should we take when making these decisions?

since plunder does translate into gold ( and bigger cities = bigger markets = more gold), robbing and plundering to your hearts content would be the order of the day.

Infamy is being build up through gaining plunder and having everyone know you got plunder. Consider bragging, public speeches or at least publicly spending the wealth to be known as the pirate(s) with the "bling"

As long as you are secretive about your gains - and there might be advantages to that - you gain little infamy.

1) When you reach an infamy "level", for example Loathsome, it shows 3 benefits. Do PC's pick one or all 3 are automatically gained?

2) When it comes to impositions, the Pc's can only buy 1/day. If they buy Walk the Plank, does it has an infinite use (1/day) or once used they have to purchase it again?

3) If the PC's have the disrepute points they can have up to 7 impositions after 1 week (1 imposition bought/day). Could they use all of them at once?

If I understand this right, it says players can gain up to 5 Infamy in a port, and then no more at that port until they reach the next threshold of Infamy. So if they have 8 Infamy, Gain 5 more, which puts them over the next Infamy threshold (10), can they simply start over and gain another 5 Infamy at that port, for a total of 18?

I was about to ask a question but Cojonuda asked it first. So, can an imposition be used multiple times once bought ?

As I read it, you pay for the imposition every time you use it. If you buy Walk the Plank, then that's a one-shot deal. If you want to use it again later, you'll have to pay for it again.

The characters can gain disrepute without gaining Infamy. So even if they've reached the maximum 5 Infamy from Bloodcove, they can still gain disrepute from bragging in inns (and making their perform-checks). Just remember that thei Disrepute can't go higher than their Infamy.

Office Ninja, I'd say they could gain an additional 3 in that port. They have 8, gain 2, making it 10. From that point, they can gain an additional 5 (as they are in a port, where they haven't gained Infamy for this level), for a max. total of 15 before they have to find a new port.

From the PDF: a group can only gain a maximum of 5 points of Infamy and Disrepute from any particular port.
