Everflame to Sin

Play-by-Post

The walk back to the front of the tomb is a somber one. Janet seems on edge and eager to get out of the dark depths but is careful to follow your steps closely. The going is slow with Kiri carrying Grax over her shoulder but after what seems like a month underground you finally make your way back to the entrance room. Light streams in from the open doors leading outside and the man you left tied up is gone. You can hear the sound of voices from outside and as your eyes adjust to the brightness you can see the shapes of people. Janet runs outside and falls into the embrace of a man.

Janet: Oh Roldare, I was afraid those horrid things had killed you.

Roldare: Janet! I’ve been so worried. I’m sorry I ran off and left you. I just couldn’t face those things and figured the best thing was to go and get help. I ended up traped in the crypt in the supply room and almost died.

As Roldare ends his comments, the other group seems to notice you all for the first time. Besides Roldare (the wailing man from the tomb) and Janet, there are four strong looking young men standing beside a wagon. The group looks ready for a trip into the tomb and seems to have come well prepared. On the side of the wagon is a sign that reads “Hagfish Hopefuls.”

*I hang back at the entrance of the the tomb waiting to see what the other group will do once they realize that we already have the everflame.*

"Hope you gentlemen have a better time of it than we did." Kiri mildly shouts at the Hopefuls. "Bats are nasty things".

Though reacquainted with his hat and glove, Baf remains battered and walks with a sluggish trod made worse by a heavy heart. Upon witnessing the reunion of the couple, his demeanor lightens and he musters a near-cheerful tone. "I am glad you are awake and reunited, sir and madam. How fares your wound?" Seemingly disregarding their embrace, the gnome begins dutifully inspecting Roldare's bandages. After a full inspection of Roldare’s wound, Baf nods his head and removes himself from the siblings.

Roldare: “Thank you all for rescuing my dear sister. I don’t know what I would do if anything had happened to her. I see that you also managed to grab the Everflame as well.” Noticing Grax’s limp form his face seems distant for a bit. He regains his composure quickly. “Well since you’ve recovered the Everflame and seem to be in need of some help getting back, how about we all ride back with my friends from the Hagfish here.”

The ride back is quite and long. After two days of travel you finally arrive back at Sandpoint. The Hagfish Hopefuls take you back to the town square and call for Father Zantus who takes Grax’s body into the church. News travels quickly through the town, and while the people seem happy about your accomplishments they mourn the loss of a new local hero.

With Ameiko’s help your group is able to cover the expenses to have Grax brought back from the grave with Father Zantus preforming the ritual with all of you present. With the Swallowtail Festival only three days away, the town is abuzz about the new heroes of the Everflame. Ameiko is happy to provide you all with free room and board for the week at the Rusty Dragon and even has a night of free Dwarven Mead in celebration of Grax’s return. It seems that Sandpoint has more reason than ever to celebrate.

"Ugh, my head" *I proceed to take full advantage of the free mead and have a night full of fun and debauchery to help 'liven' up my mood*

Baf is thrilled to be able to attend Grax' rejuvination. He thanks Pharasma for allowing him to return to this realm.

"Glad you still have a head, friend! We barely bested that crypt, but we couldn't have done it without you."

The battle is finally past. All over town lay dead goblins along with a few unfortunate citizens and guards. The city guard starts they long job of cleaning up the mess the raid made including burning the bodies of the goblins outside the city wall and bringing dead citizens to the church for burial. Foxglove mourns the death of his dog and buries it out in the woods not far from town before retiring to his room at the White Deer Inn.

In the wake of the raid many in the town seemed stunned and shell shocked while many others are enamored with the new local heroes. Das Korvut is so impressed by the groups actions that he offers each of you half off on one weapon or piece of armor. Not to be out done Savah Bevaniky makes the same offer to all of you as well.

Everywhere you go around town, you're met by smiles and greetings as your names have started to become household words.

With most the day left ahead of you and a somber overtone across the town, what do you do?

I go find Shayliss Vinder to see how she and her father are after the attack.

You run into Shayliss later in the street. She thanks you for your help and tells you that her father is fine, though a bit distracted currently with her sister's new romance. In fact...he hasn't had much time to deal with the rats in the store's celler. Would you be willing to come by and help? It shouldn't be too big of a problem for a strong adventurer like you.

"Of course I can come help"
