Reading that other thread, I like what I hear.
But still not liking the connotations that "Mythic" has to me...
Think of it this way.
Right now, there are some storylines we just can't do in adventures, due to the lack of rule support. We couldn't do a "Test of the Starstone" adventure, for example, nor could we do an adventure where a runelord more powerful than Karzoug woke up and started doin' stuff. Heck, we couldn't even do a conversion of Age of Worms or Shackled City or Savage Tide, due to the fact that those three adventure paths end with the foes they end with.
Among other things, Mythic Adventures will let us do those types of adventure paths or adventures—if we want (and we want—be sure to stay tuned to our plans for the upcoming adventure path set in the Worldwound!).
What it WON'T do is "break" the Inner Sea region.
In any even, the playtest will be completely open and public. We'll announce it's start here, and that news will likely spread throughout the internet. Anyone and everyone can take part.

I've never seen such generosity, I was expecting having to sign up and maybe getting a limited slot.
I'm not complaining, but how come your playtest's open? Aren't you worried about dread pirate demonoids?

All of Paizo's playtests have been open, right from when they created the core rules. It seems o be working out ok for them so far.

All Paizo's playtests are open, and after release the rules are all available through the OGL.
What isn't free is all the shiny, shiny art and beautiful layout that the books themselves have.

For one thing, the rules that are circulated in the playtest are not complete, and for another, they are not final.
For the first part, the basic elements will be there, but not everything. For the APG, there were playtests of the new classes.. but there was a lot more content in the APG than just the new classes. Similarly, I would expect this playtest to be 15-20 % of the content of the final book.
Based on the feedback from the playtest, the Developers will modify the pieces that seem to be causing problems. In some cases, that has meant a "Round 2" of the playtest materials, though whether there will be such a second round for these will not be known until later.
