God I hope they don't wreck it - This is my favorite Science Fiction ahead of Doctor Who and Firefly. The last thing we need is americanization of the Terran Federation.

I was as bad as a child...Won a huge Doll in the cutest child contest and ripped its arms and legs off in a day apparently.

Seeing as how he's been dead since 1997.
I know. The point is that sometimes you can't go home again and certain books once done just should be left closed. Blake's 7 is a very Brit mentality kind of show. Just as I would not have expected Star Trek to come out of a London studio, I couldn't see most Brit S/F being executed that well with the prconceptions most Americans bring to the table. The Fox Dr. Who movie comes to mind.

I liked the Fox Dr. Who just fine...and the British creators consider McGann's Doctor as canon.
As to Blake's 7--I don't think the U.S. will necessarily make a bad product. We are easily as cynical about authority as the mindset of the program, so there is no reason to 'soften' it. The truly hard thing will be casting Avon correctly. And I certainly wouldn't mind Blakes' 7 with Farscape FX...

I'm leaning more toward QXL99's way of thinking.
A remake might even be an improvement if they keep the actor playing Blake under contract for the whole run. Haven't seen the original in a very long time, but I definitely remember thinking it went downhill fast once Blake left.
On the other hand, given the channel it's being made for/by, it'll probably be as bad or worse than Flash Gordon was.

If it's not Terry Nation working on it, I expect it to flop miserably.
Nation created the show and wrote some of the better episodes in the series ('Pressure Point' and 'Terminal', most notably), but he wasn't the strongest writer or creative force for the series. That was definitely Chris Boucher, who created the arc (what there was of it) for Seasons 2-4 and was its main creative force after Season 1.
It would be good if Boucher was involved, but the concept is strong enough that another writer could have a valid take on it. The important thing is not to wimp out on the premise, as New-BSG did on its premise at the end.

Source? They only had very vague ideas for how the fifth season would proceed, with people divided on if Avon should succeed in bringing down the Federation or if the crew should lose. If that idea did come up, it was certainly only as a very rough idea, and to be honest I don't see the point of it given the end of Season 4.

Georgeville is a TV production company. Nothing's been 'outsourced', it's just the same as any TV show that uses a separate production company to make accounting easier. For example, LOST being made by ABC but through Bad Robot, or GAME OF THRONES being made by HBO but through Little Head/Big Head Productions.
Didn't they allready do this, and call it Farscape?
FARSCAPE - and FIREFLY and BABYLON 5 for that matter - did draw a lot on the original BLAKE'S 7, yes.
That doesn't invalidate a remake of the original series, however.

SyFy have surprisingly dropped the project and it's been picked up by Microsoft, who are developing it as an X-Box original series (along with the HALO TV series).
