Alright. Fair enough.

I've played Metro, and not the others.

Metro happens in Moscow, and has that Russian sensibility which is not for everyone.

Hellgate London is a terrible terrible game. What's Dirty bomb?

I just got my email saying my copy will be shipped. I should have it tomorrow.

I just wanted to start playing at midnight though.

I feel your pain. I went over to Mom's and she checked Amazon. It SHOULD arrive tomorrow sometime. But due to RL stuff, I doubt that I will get to play anytime before 10 or 11 PM.

I think I will go beat up Yang, Deirdre, and the aliens to ease my pain and anguish. ~grumbles ~ Sneak attack me will you? ~starts to build needle jets to begin retribution~

Edit - ~whistles~ WOW!!! I have been playing Sid Meyer's Alpha Centauri for over 15 years?

Free to play class based shooter. I hear it's quite good.

The STALKER series is also Russian based.

I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find more, those are just the ones I thought of off the top of my head.

So I cannot believe I am saying what I am about to say.

Why did they have to make the game live now? The game went live within the last hour. I was super excited about this, until I got to character creation. Its 1AM where I live right now! I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO INVEST IN THESE KINDS OF DECISIONS!!!!! I HAVE WORK IN THE MORNING!!!!!!! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME BETHESDA???????!!!!!!!!!!! DAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean, you even made the banter between the male and female protagonist options just that right level of adorable that signifies a happily married couple!!!

Ok, enough ranting. I am going to get some sleep, because the sooner I do that, the faster I can get through the work day, and the quicker I can get to a window for actually running through character creation.

I had problems buying the game. Finaly after 6 hours of tedium I managed to. Now instead of sipping my morning coffee, I am sitting in my room, looking at 7 hours of download to go. :(

That's one of the names that's missing LOL

Got it working, played for a good 2 hours. Had to download a crash fix they put out already because it was crashing every 15 minutes, but once I got that installed it ran like a dream. Very fun so far.

And I'm a genius who put my computer to sleep
4 hours left.

It's frustrating yet amusing that turns out I picked a name that won't be vocalized -- Rosie, as in "the Riveter," a classic WWII reference -- but if I had picked "Titties" or "Assface" I would have been fine.

How on earth could they have missed Rosie, DQ? I agree, perfect name.

What's the best way to euthanize my computer, so I can justify buying a new one (which will just so happen to meet the system requirements) to my wife? I need a guy who can make it look like an accident...

Do you have kids? Cause if so, problem solved.

The hard part is they can't know either because they will rat you out in a second.

Cats with easily spilled beverages nearby are another goldmine of destruction.

For PC players bit of info that you might like to know, it seems that the recommended graphics are doing the game amazingly.

The GTX 780 or the R9 290x are apparently both running the game like champs (according to Reddit) on ultrahigh graphics with 60+ FPS.

When someone manages to tear themselves away from playing, care to share what made it onto the in-game playlist?

Liberty's Edge

I got my pip boy edtion at Best buy without any issues. But since last night I have been having internet/ network issues. I got most of those taken care of but I can't connect my PS4 online now . GGRRRRRR I have all the ports I need open.

I'd suggest overclocking it so much that it burns out. Or overwhelming the power supply with stronger electrical current.

Here's a good one. Start updating the firmware on your motherboard and turn the computer off in the middle. Kills it dead.

Or get a neodymium magnet and hold it on the hard drive for a few minutes.

I see you've done this before. :-D

If you have liquid cooling, crack (as in physically break) the hardware so coolant leaks on your motherboard, and say it was a failure in the cooling system.

(I don't actually recommend this, but a coolant leak was why I had to replace a motherboard a year ago or so.)

You mean the music on the radio? Sadly so far the swing/crooner playlist seems to be a lot of repeats from Fallout 3 -- good songs, like "Crazy He Calls Me" by Billie Holliday, but repeats. But I'm not sure if it's all repeats or what the extent of the playlist is, however. I only played a little before I went to work.

There's also a classical music station.

Four more hours till I get off work damnit

For what it's worth, my computer doesn't even meet the minimum specs (thugh not far off) and the game runs smooth as silk on Low settings. My friend has the same specs and says he can run it on Medium or High with no issues (or a few tweaks), so there's that. The game seems to be pretty damn well optimized.

Songs I've heard so far (that I remember):

Repeats: Bingo Bango Bongo, Anything Goes, One of the love songs I can't recall the name of ATM (it was in New Vegas, I think)

New songs: The Wanderer, Grandma Plays The Numbers, Butcher Pete (Part 2! Which means my life is now complete)

I have been reading the game guide and I have a feeling settlements will be very powerful, but a pain to set up right.

Both actually. But I was once asked for a surefire way of killing a computer. Didn't know that that person would use it to commit insurance fraud though.

I am sitting at work getting nothing done because I keep on refreshing the UPS page to see why it hasn't been delivered yet...

New: Personality, 60 Minute Man

So far, more new than old.

Edit: Atom Bomb Baby, Mr. In-Between, some jazzy number with no lyrics that's new, Rocket 69, and He's a Dog are also all new.

Got in to find a note telling me that FALLOUT 4 is waiting at the post office. Whichis now closed. Sigh.

Ok, so 4 hours into the game and i have my first pet peeve. Well, two actually.

1. WHY on earth is there no such thing as a construction grid and the option to do a snap to grid?

2. I got power armor way way way too fast.

It does appear to snap to a grid, at least when you're building on an existing foundation.

I don't mind getting Power Armor early, since they seem to rely on a limited supply of Fusion Cores to work. Use it all up too fast and you're stuck without it until end-game, or at least that's how it seems now.

You get power armor early, but kind of need it for that fight. You know what I'm talking about. I also noticed the fusion core thing which means I will probably not use it that often, because I haven't found a second one yet but I'm only a little into the game.

I do want to say for anyone playing on PC that might encounter this problem, if your game crashes upon loading the "Please Stand By" screen for the game go to your respective graphics card manufacturer's website and update the latest drivers. Seems like both nVidia and AMD did some last minute software tweaks to run the game.

And for anyone that might be wondering I'm running on an AMD R9 290X and the game it running amazingly well on Ultrahigh graphics setting and is absolutely beautiful. I'm even running on an old AMD Phenom II X4 840 processor, but it doesn't seem to affect game performance very much as opposed to having a new processor.

I found a second core at 50% power early on (or, I should say, a first core, since I found it before I even got to Concord). No third yet though.

Sovereign Court

Spoiler:
There is another core, in a cave under the gas station.
