I'm curious. What sorts of boons have been given out at Gen Con this year?

I received one that lets you get the favored enemy bonus against a race, but the race has to be one you have a race boon for, which invalidates the race boon. Xenophobic I believe it was called.

Shadow Lodge ***** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Alma

I got three boons with two being duplicates.

#13 - Shoanti Quah-Friend: You gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls against creatures of the giant subtype and either become specialized in Survival or learn the Shoanti language for free. Cross through the option you do not choose.

#17 - Treasure Map: You recently inherited or purchased a map that promises buried riches to any adventurer willing to follow its convoluted instructions. When you would roll a Day Job check, you may instead check one of the boxes.* Upon checking the third box, you uncover the hidden cache, earning you a number of gold pieces equal to 150 x your current character level. You may spend 4 PP to acquire another promising map and reuse this boon; if you choose not to do so upon checking the final box on the Chronicle sheet, cross the entire boon of the Chronicle sheet. You may only use one Treasure Map at a time.

*There are three boxes below the text.

**

Let's fill in the blanks ...

#1 - Favored Monument: +2 Knowledge(Magnimar History) and one of twelve other small bonus.

#2

#3

#4

#5 - Missing Mentor: after completing a Knowledge(local) or Diplomacy check on five scenarios you get +1 Will bonus vs fear, DC to Intimidate you increases by 3, +2 to stabilizing check, and +2 CMD vs bull rush, drag & repositioning.

#6

#7 - Sinscarred: Choose a school of magic. +1 on saves vs that school and +2 spellcraft

#8 - Sacred Trust: Choose one of seven Shoanti clans and get a bonus

#9

#10

#11

#12

#13 - Shoanti Quah-Friend: You gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls against creatures of the giant subtype and either become specialized in Survival or learn the Shoanti language for free. Cross through the option you do not choose.

#14 - Varisian Caravaner: You gain a +1 bonus on attacks vs goblinoids. You become specialized in Perform(dance) or learn Varisian as a free language.

#15

#16

#17 - Treasure Map: You recently inherited or purchased a map that promises buried riches to any adventurer willing to follow its convoluted instructions. When you would roll a Day Job check, you may instead check one of the boxes.* Upon checking the third box, you uncover the hidden cache, earning you a number of gold pieces equal to 150 x your current character level. FYI - I received a clarification from Mike B. that 'Specialized' means a +2 bonus. Maybe it's somewhere in the rules, but I hadn't hear of it.

When a PC becomes specialized in a skill, that skill immediately becomes a class skill for her. If the PC gains that skill as a class skill from any other sources, she gains a +1 competence bonus on the skill checks.

My guess is the Mike was tired, distracted (it was GenCon), or was just messing with me :-).

Xnophobia: As the Pathfinder Society becomes increasingly diverse, instead of becoming more comfortable around rare creatures, you have developed a paranoid distrust of them. You may inclusde with this boon any number of Chronicle sheets that enable you to play a character of a different race. Each such Chronicle sheet grants you a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge (Local or Planes), Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against the specific creature subtype that it grants access to.

Likewise, you also receive a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against creatures of the selected race. This ability works like and stacks with a ranger's favored enemy class ability. For Chronicle sheets that allow you to choose a race, you must make that selection when you include the sheet with this boon. You may gain no more than a +2 bonus from this boon against any single race, and can only select races to which you are xenophobic at the start of a scenario.

Once you include a boon granting access to a new race which this Chronicle sheet, that boon can no longer be used to create a character of that race. Cross out the Chronicle sheet's text and write "Xenophobia" beneath it. Keep that Chronicle sheet along with this one in the associated character's records to indicate what races were selected for this boon.

I think there is one where you get +1 to linguistics and you auto-learn 3 languages.

I hear there was a boon for playing a Goblin.

Much sadness I have had :(

This was only available as a one-time reward for the winners of the round 2 special, not the general public. Besides the 30 awarded that day, no others will be released.

That said, there were also 10 unique boons for the auction. I believe 8 of them were custom items? Only one of these will even exist of each.

I received this one. It gives you a personal translator who knows 3 languages and gives you this bonus. A neat boon for those with low INT or little desire to put ranks into linguistics. I highly suggest picking some of the native dialects for this if you don't already have them.

#12 is "Extra Trait" I don't have the sheet in front of me, but the jist is that you get to choose an extra trait as long as it isn't of a type you already have.

Most, if not all, of the Unique Boons were purchased by 1 retired high level character during the Grand Convocation at PaizoCon... doubt anyone will EVER see these in use at a table unless you personally know who bought them :-p

For #5, you only get to pick one of the three benefits.

#5 - Missing Mentor: after completing five DC 15 Knowledge (Local) or Diplomacy checks in a settlement of 1,000 people or more (only one attempt per scenario), select one of "+1 bonus to Will saves vs. fear and the DC to Intimidate you increases by 3", "+2 bonus to stabilize when dying", or "+2 bonus to CMD against the bull rush, drag, and reposition maneuvers".

Hope this helps.

I got #4, Expedition Manager

This is a really long thing to type :)

In addition to your more dangerous duties as a Pathfinder, you also have undertaken an archaeological expedition at a minor site. Your venture-captain expects you to fund the expedition yourself, but so long as you report on your findings, you may keeo any physical goods uncovered for yourself. When rolling you day job check at the end of a scenario, you may spend between 2 and 6 prestige points to pay for supplies, expenses, and personnel. The next time you roll a day job check, the expedition returns with research and relics dependant upon how many prestige points you spent.

You can acquire any single item of the listed price or less at no cost. An item acquired in this way is worth 0 gp and cannot be sold. In addition, your archaelogical findings may contain clues about historical events, arcane enigmas, or other mysteries. As a free action, you gain a bonus on a knowledge (arcana, history, planes, or religion) check equal to the number of prestige points that you spent. When you use the skill bonus, cross this boon off of your chronicle sheet.
2PP: the item acquired costs 1000gp or less
4pp: the item acquired costs 2000gp or less
6pp: the item acquired costs 3500gp or less

My guess is the Mike was tired, distracted (it was GenCon), or was just messing with me :-).

Depends on when you caught him. I'm pretty sure he got some sleep on Wednesday night.

Hey, that was the night I go to sleep too!

What super-cool auction boons were there?

The one I(Gaddock) won was a one of a kind mental stat boosting item. I can pick a primary and secondary stat from Int, Wis, or Cha. The primary gets +4 the secondary gets +2.

The item then has 3 stages you can upgrade it to

Stage 1: The secondary stat is now +4

Stage 2: The primary stat is now +6

Stage 3: The secondary stat is now +6

I feel bad for the retired character who won the ones from Paizocon cuz my lvl 8 will have plenty of time to enjoy his item.

Most, if not all, of the Unique Boons were purchased by 1 retired high level character during the Grand Convocation at PaizoCon... doubt anyone will EVER see these in use at a table unless you personally know who bought them :-p

Why does this rumor keep going? There were 10 items, purchased by 8 different characters.

I love it as well. I'm trying to figure out if I want to use 5 with my goblin, as well as throwing a billion other boons onto that character as well.

Just because all 8 characters were owned by the same player. ;-)

I had the extra trait boon but when I got home it seems to have gone missing on me.. :-(

I don't know specific names but they were acquired by a number of different people, including me(I know ive said it but im really happy with it).

Perhaps the other winners could speak up and be recognized. I was kind of sad the winners weren't announced to the room or anything.

I like #6, but then I am a dwarven craftsman before a caster. Spent the trait on jewelry making and prestige to buy my shop, and even my eido has maxed craft (jewelry) though I cannae use it.

I have a quick question, and rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd ask it here. Can you use the same boon twice on the same character? I received 2 of the "+1 trait" boons and was wondering if I could apply it to the same guy.

Good question, sputang. The answer is "no."

That is answered in the FAQ Here.

Danke, Mike. I looked all over the boards for that; never thought to check the FAQ.

Mike Brock, question regarding Boon #4. Since the boon is not crossed off until I use the bonus on a knowledge check, may I make the described PP expenditures after a scenario until the boon is crossed off the chronicle sheet? Also, I assume the bonus is to be applied to some appropriate knowledge check during the course of a scenario or approved module.

Thanks!

#4 - Expedition Manager: In addition to your more dangerous duties as a Pathfinder, you also have undertaken an archaeological expedition at a minor site. Your venture-captain expects you to fund the expedition yourself, but so long as you report on your findings, you may keep any physical goods uncovered for yourself.

I guess while we are at it I'd like to know if the purchase with the PP would be capped in a manner similar to other purchases in PFS, or if the PP purchases are exceptions to that rule.
