honestly, I can't say much about devils and demons, in pnp I never met them (other than imp and the like), and I never got past level 13 in any group, plus they were often low magic settings
I would suggest for you to look into the various Godling classes though, even if just for multiclassing. Mighty/Skilled or Eldritch Godling can be both fun as player characters or as NPC-s, and a Mighty Godling with Retribution scion power is a fun enemy on lower levels.
I think it would also work with devils and such. Just be aware that two non-caster or two caster Godling classes can't be multiclassed (similar to how Rogue/Ninja can't)
If you don't go the physical route, an Eldritch Godling with Dual Casting ability and the maximum tier of Legendary Beauty could be a great ruler character as ally or villain.
Sounds like I'm running similar games like your pnp group. Low magic, level 12 are big movers and shakers already. That's why this is a big boss fight but I keep it around CR 14.

As it stands right now it's the drider pretty much unmodified from how I posted her (except the stats are fixed good catch wraithstrike) and she has a cleric and an antipaladin for backup. Total encounter CR 14.
I used everyones ideas on the minions instead of the Drider Demoness herself.
Also I'm using your vermin idea Ashiel. Pesky spiders spamming webs everywhere under cover of protection against good, darkness, and bane with just enough DR from abyssal bloodline to survive splash weapons.
Well DR doesn't help vs splash weapons, unless you mean energy resistance, in which case forget I said anything. :P
Nope my mistake. I forgot mundane fire overcomes DR. My brains slow today.

Woot! Finally finished the thread. I gotta say, along the way there were soooooooo maaaaaaaany posts I wanted to comment on that had something off on them for one reason or another. But too late now, I've forgotten what those posts were. Just the nature of coming into a thread late.
BTW Grimmy, I took a look at the stcok Drider and I noticed something under its defensive abilities.
Immune sleep; SR 18
Driders already come with SR (which is calculated at 11 + CR) while the Fiendish template grants SR of 5 + CR. Since SR doesn't stack, they overlap, your CR 13 Drider should have SR of 24, not 18. I thought someone else would catch this, or the topic would change before I got to the end, I'm glad to say I get to make a post in response to someone else in this thread.
[Edit] Also, I can't tell you how much I wanted to make a "Warm Kitty, Soft Kitty" reference when comparing Goblins to Cats :(
