So, we are essentially done with our first week of the Ultimate Psionics kickstarter, with another 5 weeks to go.
In that first week, we shattered our initial $2500 goal, included psionic character sheets for all backers of $20 and up, included a 32-page introductory adventure, upgraded all the artwork to color, included the Psionic Items of Legend series into the book, increased our art budget, added two new playable races, included the psionic race advanced options, and added PCGen and Hero Lab files.
We are only $536 away from also adding a Game Mastering section to the book.
5 weeks to go - what's it going to look like when we get there?
Join in the Ultimate Psionics Kickstarter and come along for the ride!

Note to self - when I get my copy of the limited edition do NOT put in on the same shelf as the Tome of Horrors Complete, Slumbering Tsar and Rappan Athuk.
I've got a very large gaming table that's made out of old, real wood (not particle board and cheap fasteners). When I run my Slumbering Tsar game I still make a point of putting stuff on the opposite end of the table from me to make sure the ballast is balanced. <Grin> ST, ToH, Bestiary 1-3 and a Core at the very least at my end.
Jeremy's a clever monkey. I could totally see myself picking up a second book, a non-limited-edition one, to protect the first. As a DM sure, I'd use the limited-edition one, but if I've got players leafing through powers and stuff... here... have the "normal" one. So I have a funny feeling my pledge is going to be larger than I'd expected.

Curse you Anguish, that makes too much sense to ignore.

I have to admit, that wasn't my thought process behind it, but it's certainly a side effect!
And yes, we have broken through $12,000 and are going to include a Game Mastering section! The good news is that I'd already been working on this for a while before this project as a potential standalone book, so a good chunk of it is already sketched out.
I can also announce the next stretch goal at $18,000 - psionic archetypes for all the core classes (no guarantees on the APG and beyond core classes).
And let's just say that since $20,000 is such a significant tier, that stretch goal is also very significant. :)

There are two different color versions.
The one at $100 will be available after the Kickstarter - although in limited locations and quantity. It will NOT be available at almost any venue other than the Dreamscarred store because of the thin profit margin involved - retail outlets (including the Paizo store) want a 50% (or sometimes higher) discount, and at that rate, we'd be losing money on every copy sold. Retailers who want to buy it at a discount that isn't costing us money are certainly welcome to carry it, but it will not go through retail distribution - we simply can't afford the size of the print run needed to make color viable - even at a $100 sticker price.
The limited edition version for $200 and up backers is only going to be available to those who pledge at $200 and up. Caveat: we reserve the right to have a some extra limited edition copies made for special cases, personal use, promotional use, and the like, but it's not going to be something regularly available - even through the Dreamscarred store. When we say limited, we mean limited.
Thank you for the detailed explanation, after talking to my wife about it I am going to pledge at the $100 level.
Edited: I sucessfully pledged at the $100 level. I have to warn you, I am cursed/blessed depending on your viewpoint. Everytime I have preorderd a product it has sold out on the 1st day of sale; Pathfinder Core Rule Book, Tome of Horror Complete, and 1001 Spells. Of course, the Paizo blob may the real culprit. :)

OK, I want to see this thing pass $14,000 tonight. There's still 10 limited tier slots available - 1 for designing the iconic prestige class characters, and 9 for design of a custom character to be illustrated and included in the book. (Not to mention the 4 still open slots for Wayne Reynolds to do the art of the psionic character of your design, which is just EPIC.)
Also, I've already asked Jeremy on the DSP forums, so if it interests anyone here, you can get the custom character illustration reward tier while going for a higher level reward (such as the limited edition book). Just choose the $175 reward tier, but add $75 to the the pledge tier you actually want. (For instance, someone who wants the custom character illustration in the book and wants a limited edition book should select the $175 reward tier, but pledge $275.)

We are over $14,000 toward the Ultimate Psionics hardcover - which means we will be producing psionic item cards similar to our psionic power cards for all the psionic items in the book! Everybody $20 and up gets the PDF included at no additional charge.
And, I can also announce the $20,000 stretch goal - Wayne Reynolds will do the cover / poster artwork, even if nobody selects the $1000 reward. Now, IF we get backers at that $1,000 level AND we hit $20,000, we have a bonus goal in mind.
With less than $6000 to go and over 30 days to get there, it looks like Wayne will be doing the cover art - but keep getting the word out and let folks know about the Ultimate Psionics Kickstarter!

Later this month, we will be starting our very first Kickstarter project for Dreamscarred Press. We got some great feedback from you all on what you'd like to see in the project and what you don't want to see in it, we watched what other folks did in their Kickstarters, we spent a LOT of time hammering out the reward tiers, the potential stretch goals, and we think this is something that folks are really going to be excited about.
So consider yourselves warned - this isn't going to be some small project - this one is going to be HUGE!
I've seen it.
You guys are just $2,000 shy of your goal.

Yes indeed, the $1000 reward has been selected.
Actually, two of them have.
And we are over $16,000!
Unfortunately, I am still working out logistics of what was going to be the $22,000 stretch goal, so I don't have any new information to give out yet. Hopefully soon!
But, I do have some existing reward tier updates.
Andreas and I discussed the gap between the $30 reward and the $50 reward, where you pay more, but some of the rewards get removed (the Bestiary PDF and the Premier Customer status, in particular.)
Given the success of the project, we are going to be giving those benefits to all $50 backers. This will not include the printed Bestiary - the cost of our tiers has to allow all of the rest of the product costs - but you can certainly add that on for $15 (B&W) or $25 (color).
Also, for those at the $1000 reward, we are adding in a standard edition color hardcover Ultimate Psionics as part of the reward.

Jeremy mentioned on the DSP forums that there was actually 2 when Kickstarter was showing 1 of 3. So I think there's either a bug in Kickstarter that's not showing the spoken for slot but is showing the money, or someone grabbed the tier through an alternate payment method and Jeremy can somehow updated Kickstarter to show it. Not 100% certain how that works. But there is still 1 left, regardless of the reasoning.

You, sir, are awesome. Chapter art arrives! Plus the Wayne Reynolds cover, since all 4 slots have been purchased. This is going to be so pretty. And since Jeremy has not had time to post it over here, the 22k goal has been revealed.
All backers pledging $200 or more will also get a full-color GM screen. All backers will have the option to purchase one as an add-in, but only those pledging 200 or more get one automatically. No other stretch goals have currently been revealed.
Also of note - there is currently one open slot in the 'design the prestige class iconic' tier, and 7 open slots in the 'design a character to be drawn and included in the book' tier. These are awesome tiers, and worth checking out.

So yes, we have hurtled beyond our $18,000 goal, broken the $20,000 goal, and are now working toward the $22,000 goal, meaning we will create psionic item cards, Wayne will be doing the cover art, and we will have full-page artwork to start each chapter. All of the cover spots are also full.
The $22,000 goal is, as mentioned, GM screens as an included reward for those at $200 and up, and an add-in for anyone else. Price TBD based upon final production cost. We are still in discussions with printers.
The $24,000 stretch goal is that we will add at least twenty additional monsters to the Bestiary. Caveat: these may include upgrades for 3.5 monsters, although there will be new monsters, as well.
The stretch goal beyond $24,000 is yet to be revealed.
And as to why these goals take a day or two to get revealed is because, honestly, we're hurtling past them faster than expected, and some of them we are still investigating the viability of them. We expected to have a few extra weeks to make sure they could be done, so we either have to shuffle stretch goals, or delay revealing. We've had to do both multiple times so far.

Boy, with all the support, Jeremy, Paizo's Psionics System is going to have a hard time competing with the Psionics Power Point system. Based on how much you are raising, the only advantage that Paizo's Psionics System will have is that it's FIRST PARTY! There are a lot of first party only -- uh -- well, lets just say that there are a significant number of people out there who will buy first party only.
I wonder if Bruce would be proud? If he's not, there's something wrong with him.

To be fair, there are currently less than 200 supporters. While I'm glad this project is doing as well as it is, that's a depressingly small number. I'm sure there are a couple hundred thousand CRB floating around, and there's got to be tens of thousands of APGs. Yeah, some people already have Psionics Unleashed and just aren't getting the combined book, but still... this is awesome both in content and in style.
I'd like to see several thousand printed. I'd like to see Paizo ordering a few hundred for sale through their store like Tome of Horrors et al.
I mean, I'm really glad it's gone as far as it's gone. I just want Psionics to stop being the red-headed step-child.

So how do we petition this to show up as a post like the Reaper Bones thing? Might also help if it showed up on ENWorld's newsfeed/front page which I don't believe it has yet.

That's (I'm guessing) the problem. Jeremy has already told ENWorld about this. But it's psionics so I don't see anyone being in a hurry to yell out to the world. Paizo... I actually expect is waiting until it's down to a week or less to post this on one of their blogs, which isn't a horrible move. On the down-side it gives people less time to scrape up money. On the up-side, stretch goals will have been met, making the deal that much more attractive to people who hear about it late.
I dunno. I still get the whole "I don't want science-fiction in my fantasy", as if it's every been true.

I know I wouldn't have been able to afford my pledge amount if I hadn't had such advanced notice. As it stands I have 30 days to save up to it (aka 30 days of bag lunching & avoiding an extra soda/coffee during the day).

I've not asked Paizo about doing a blog post for it yet, but I'd also rather wait until some more time has passed. Kickstarters are all about maintaining momentum, and while you want to push the visibility, you do want to keep options available so you're not constantly hammering the same folks.
And yes, I did submit the Kickstarter to ENWorld. Sadly, we were not fortunate enough to get coverage.
That being said, we still have plenty of time to go and we're continuing to look at ways to get people informed about the project. For example, we've advertised on websites, on d20pfsrd, in the upcoming Rite Publishing Pathways, and via DriveThruRPG.

I believe the reason the bones Kickstarter got a blog post was because so many of the Paizo staff were really interested in getting the minis, so they made a blog post about it to get the word out.
