Is that in IE or Firefox or another browser? Because it only seems to be you.

Both, I was researching this and wondered if it could be theme related. It has been a while since I logged in so I don't remember what my setting were.

Can you try registering a new account and see if it happens still?

And since we're on a new page:

Join in the Ultimate Psionics Kickstarter!

We are almost to the $8,000 stretch goal, which will introduce the Forgeborn race!

Starfinder Superscriber

Thanks Jeremy! He did the cover of the old 3.5 Psionic Handbook (the second one with the psi-knife on the cover).

Is it silly that I want this to be at the max level and finished NOW so that I can get all the psionic goodies? :)

Not really, there's a bunch of us chomping at the bit waiting for more Psionic goodies. As of this posting we're almost at the 8k stretch goal, huzzah!

Well, now that you can get a copy of the Psionic Bestiary as an extra, I upped my pledge!

@ Jeremy - I just had a thought. In order to get the PDFs, are we going to have to be signed up on Dreamscarred's site?

(Because I ordered your PDFs through Paizo, so I don't have an account.)

Dreamscarred Press

We just broken through the $8000 stretch goal - the inclusion of the Forgeborn psionic race shall commence! We will be adding them to our Advanced Psionic Races playtest as well as including them in Ultimate Psionics.

In addition, we've made it possible to buy additional copies of the different printed books as add-ins.

What's the $12,000 stretch goal? A Game Mastering section giving information on how to introduce, run, and use psionics from the GM's perspective. Included will be things like - how to handle players who want to nova, to adjusting the rules to fit your playstyle, to different levels of psionic-magic transparency, to integrated treasure tables, and more.

Check out the Ultimate Psionics Kickstarter today!

Yes. But there's no rush on that. Well, as long as you have it by the time the project ends.

What about a cohesive system that provides rules for a psionics are different non-transparency approach for $12K? I always preferred that one and use it still in my home game...

Jeremy Smith wrote:

Might be a good place to incorporate your "why the XPH isn't overpowered" material into the book itself.

I'm very interested in different levels of psionics-magic transparency. I like them to be different in my games. I'll probably be contributing another twenty so I can have a named power in there.

How big is this thing going to be? Far larger than any paizo hardcover, it would seem.

Dreamscarred Press

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I don't expect it to be larger than the Core Rulebook (576 pages)

So, somewhere between 400 and 575 pages? :)

Shadow Lodge

I LIKE BIG BOOKS AND I CANNOT LIE!

Scarab Sages

You other publishers can't deny...

Truly to be fair you should limit yourself at Core (576) + APG (336). So... 912.

That would be known as .96 Slumbering Tsars.

So. If I put in another $50 can we just build the Psionic Bestiary into UP?

Pledged!

Personally I enjoy the idea of the Psionic Bestiary being a separate product. Though with the way some of this is going Ultimate Psionic seems to be going nova.

Pledged! Thank you for bringing psionics to pathfinder. I am sure that the psionic bestiary will be great also.

Dreamscarred Press

Thanks to your support, we are now over $9,000 toward our Ultimate Psionics kickstarter! Advanced race options for all the psionic races will be included in the book!

And, we are closing in on Hero Lab / PCGen files being made!

For our backers, there is a backer-exclusive update (in case you have alerts turned off).

Finally, we'll also have updates on the limited availability tiers later this weekend!

Check out the Ultimate Psionics kickstarter today!

Jeremy, please clariify one thing for me. Is the color version of Ultimate Psionics only available to backers pledging $100 or more or will it be available for normal purchase?

Dreamscarred Press

There are two different color versions.

The one at $100 will be available after the Kickstarter - although in limited locations and quantity. It will NOT be available at almost any venue other than the Dreamscarred store because of the thin profit margin involved - retail outlets (including the Paizo store) want a 50% (or sometimes higher) discount, and at that rate, we'd be losing money on every copy sold. Retailers who want to buy it at a discount that isn't costing us money are certainly welcome to carry it, but it will not go through retail distribution - we simply can't afford the size of the print run needed to make color viable - even at a $100 sticker price.

The limited edition version for $200 and up backers is only going to be available to those who pledge at $200 and up. Caveat: we reserve the right to have a some extra limited edition copies made for special cases, personal use, promotional use, and the like, but it's not going to be something regularly available - even through the Dreamscarred store. When we say limited, we mean limited.

Jeremy Smith wrote:

Just throwing this out there but you've got 37 days to go and your well over your original goal. Maybe you should figure out what the cost of a print run to make the book cheaper in color would be and shoot for that as a stretch goal, even if it is an insane number.

Dreamscarred Press

Just spit-balling here, but you're talking about something like a $60,000+ stretch goal, as we'd have to do a print run of over 1000 copies of a book approaching 500 pages in color.

The reason I say that amount is because we have existing production costs built into the current pledge level, so not only do we have to factor in the print run itself, but all those other costs.

Factoring in the 10% cut that Kickstarter and Amazon take, artwork costs, shipping costs, etc, it all eats into the amount of budget available for actual printing, and to be able to soak up the distribution discount, that's the volume we'd have to do.

Ah, Ultimate Psionics made the $9,000 Goal!

WOOT!

:D

I want the $12,000 goal!

That is not by any means an impossible goal. You've raised nearly 9.5 K in five days. You've got 37 to go. If you can stay creative in those 37 days, post more videos and blogs and keep people interested with stretch goals you could even surpass that mark.

Or heck try for some other project you think is important. I mean I think the book in color would be a better selling product, but maybe you've got other ideas in mine. Just saying. I'm going to be shocked if you don't shoot past your current stretch goals.

Hey, go for it Jeremy. If the order of the Stick kickstarter can make $1,254,120 in pledges, you can try for $60,000+.

Set up that as a potential stretch goal.

Hey, set up a $100,000 stretch goal...Dinner With Dreamscarred! One lucky pledgee/winner...

Dark Archive

I wonder what stretch goal we'd need to convince Paizo to use DSP psionics.

I'm hoping it would be something around the 20 trillion mark.

Can't register two accounts under the same email address.

Dreamscarred Press

Dark Psion - I've sent you a PM on this issue so we can try to get it sorted out.

I've also revealed the $14,000 stretch goal - Psionic Item cards PDF for everyone $20 and up!

Check out the Ultimate Psionics Kickstarter and get in on all the good stuff!

Couldn't help myself, just upped my pledge to 111 dollars to see it hit 10K. Good works guys! can't wait to have this mega book in my grubby little hands!

Sorry, had to break the symmetry of $10,000. In for $30 of PDFs... we'll see if my budget permits a hardback copy or not.

Wow!

@ Jeremy Smith - You've got a lot of work ahead of you!

Kvantum,
No hard feelings! Just happy to see such a great looking book on the way!

New rewards and tiers are up, take a look!

Thanks Cavian! Just uped again to 125!

Will there be more psionic options for non-psionic classes? A psionic domain, paladin oath against psions, psionic eidolon evolutions, spells related to psionics (particularly anti-psionic spells), psionic masterpieces, a psychic bloodline, even psionic rage powers? These sorts of things could be all kinds of cool. I loved what you did for the rogue, fighter, and monk; why not expand along those lines?

I second this, though with the amount of stuff that's already being added to this book I'm not sure there will be room. As an aside, I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to do a psionic paladin akin to the old Divine Mind/Ardent from Complete Psionics, minus the "wait... these two classes seem like they were one at some point" flavor.

I've played and ran in worlds where psions and mages work against each other...sometimes only as professional rivals and up to and including ideological wars. I've also played in a futuristic setting where Psions were the 'police' used to monitor and take out mages that were too powerful and a threat to sentients everywhere.
The things Jackiscool is going for would be awesome for a game in that vein.

Kryzbyn wrote:

In that same vein I've heard of (sadly never played in) a game where the "evil empire" was pretty much exclusively psionic, there were smatterings of divine here and there but for the most part it was psionic. I really wish I could find the link to the forum thread but I'll try to do it some semblance of justice with my description.

The empire was ruled by a dynasty headed by a powerful Psion, he'd use True Mind, Switch to always succeed himself, even going so far as to basically selectively breed his next body. Other things that were talked about included: the emperor's psicrystal was fashioned into either his crown or his throne; the emperor had the feat/power that allowed his soul to travel to his psicrystal should he die; the state police was full of Soulknife assassins; interrogators for the state were high level telepaths.

That sounds awesome as well!
In the 'police' game, the 'psionics and magic are seperate' rules were being used, which made things interesting. Psions were fewer than mages, by far, but they required no outside source to use their abilities, and could function in an anti-magic cloud and such, or on a low mana world, becasue they didn't need mana. Needless to say corrupt mages feared them greatly, almost unto paranoia. Anyone could be a psion...they'd never know until they saw eyes glow...

That evil psionic emperor sounds awesome. I want to do that.

Jackissocool wrote:

I said the same thing as soon as I heard about it, still fleshing out something for my homebrew campaign world... thankfully I can take my time on it as the PCs aren't anywhere near it, nor are the players even moderately aware that such a place exists.

Maybe I'll set my campaign there. Cause, you know, I can do that.

Dreamscarred Press

We are over $10,000! Hero Lab / PCGen files for everyone $20 and up!

And we are almost to 100 backers!

I'll have more information on the $16,000 stretch goal later today!

Get in on the psionic fun today!

Dreamscarred Press

We are over 100 backers and to celebrate, we are adding a surprise bonus. We have had lots of questions about a psionic race from 3.5 that has seen far too little support. As a thank you, we are going to add the race from which we took our company name - the Dreamscarred - into Ultimate Psionics as a fully-supported race.

Our next stretch goal, at $12,000, is to add a Game Mastering section to Ultimate Psionics.

And our newly-revealed stretch goal at $16,000 is the first that is exclusive to the limited edition book - we will add the entire Psionic Bestiary to the limited edition book. Those of you getting the limited edition will still receive a copy of the Bestiary as part of your reward.

Which is the limited edition?

The one at the $200 or higher tier.

I'm a bit confused by this one Jeremy. Does it mean they get the Bestiary integrated into Ultimate Psionic AND a print (color, softcover) cop of the Bestiary as a separate book?

I'm not familiar with the dreamscarred race - can someone give me a rundown?
