Witch's Hexes and Rage

Advice

Can a witch who is also a barbarian use hexes whilst she rages as a barbarian. Sure some dont make sense such as cauldron, but what about cackle or misfortune? As (Su) abilities do they get round that require patience disclaimer from rage? They certainly seem in flavour (especially cackle)

How about a Scarred Witch Doctor that uses CON for all spell dcs and effects. Does this even mean that a SWD can cast during a rage? (I'm guessing not, just putting out there as devil's advocate)Pain and rage would seem to go well together.

Oops, should be in rules questions i s'pose.

as you probably guessed, it's a GM call.
I would say no. On the other hand multiclassing is weak enough that the little con boost won't be that amazing.
If the flavour is alright, I would allow it. Even cackling can be screaming when you're enraged.

there is a Orc witchdoctor archtype for witch that uses CON for spells and hexes

would seem to be perfect as a Hex Rager

Can they use Hexes during rage? Absolutely. It's an Su ability, therefore there's nothing saying that it requires patience or concentration to use Evil Eye or Misfortune on an enemy, or to Cackle maniacally at them. Cauldron, definitely not (alchemical mixing of potions definitely requires concentration).

Spellcasting, however, even when using Con as the relevant ability, is still out. Spellcasting ALWAYS requires patience and concentration, unless specifically stated otherwise (such as spells that have an immediate action activation, like feather fall). So yeah, the Witch Doctor/Barbarian can Hex to her heart's desire while raging, but still needs to have Moment of Clarity to be able to cast spells while raging.

I'm actually trialing an Orc Witchdoctor polymorpher that will have a high STR to make use of polymorphed forms with the versaility that Hexes offer.

In fact Hexstrike coupled with some other feat I forget the name that allows using unarmed feats with natural weapons would allow delivering Hexes and damage at the same time.

It's going ok so far need to hit about 7th to have all the needed feats though.

by the time BAB starts becoming an issue I should have access to the transformation spell to boost that BAB. although may not need it with the high STR bonuses I'll be rockin

It's a cool archetype, too.

How about Scarred Witch Doctor 5 Urban Barbarian 1 Eldrich Knight? You can cast while raging and if you boost con your rage actually empowers your spells. With raging vitality thats a hefty +6 to your casting stat with a possible additional +6 if you can get away with Eldrich Heritage Pit Touched. (need a good cha and a GM who allows wild blooded bloodlines for that though).

Whether or not you can casts spells during an Urban Barbarian's Controlled Rage, is being discussed here.

moment of clarity.

The Prehensile Hair Hex sounds like an awesome pick for this combo.
