Should Spider-Man and Captain Marvel be a couple?

Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Spider-Man were a hot item, and apparently the feelings that Carol Danvers has for our Web Slinger are real and should be explored. Now Joe Quesada breaking up his first marriage with MJ was the worst thing that could ever happen in Comics in my opinion and should be the best reason why comic book heroes should be retired after every generation.

Just that Marvel and DC are just a bunch of cowards when it comes to it. Spider-Man is like Marvel's (Disney) cash cow. The X-Men are one big soap opera (my sister pointed that out). I got back into Comics reading Green Lantern (the new 52 series). I loved how Senestro became a good guy and there is a possibility that Ganthet will be a good guy again. And Arkillo is a good guy too.

Green Lantern is my favorite DC hero. Because it's obvious (although they could take that ring away and I'd be pleased, most fans would hate it -- I think the ring actually focuses the will of the wearer and that the whole recharging it just recharges the capability).

---

I digress. Since Joe divorced MJ and Peter, I thought that with Peter getting together with Captain Marvel would be a great thing since they both have some things in common. What do you guys think, should Captain Marvel and Spider-Man hit it off?

Why not? Peter Parker and Kitty Pryde had a relationship in the Ultimate Universe (before Jeff Loeb screwed it all up) and that seemed to work quite well.

As someone who buys a LOT of comics I'm in agreement that comic characters can get stale. Some of the characters peaked long ago and now seem to be going through the motions.

Of course I could have said that about Captain America before the Winter Soldier storyline so there is that...

Carol and Peter? Why not? My only concern is that Peter's bantering would eventually get on her nerves.

@Fall: I miss the Ultimates Peter/Kitty relationship. It was an excellent break from the 616 universe that they eventually ruined.

Isn't Peter Parker dead? Are we talking about the new Spiderman?

Ultimate Spider-man is dead. Well, Peter is anyway.

The regular Marvel Universe Spider-man is fine as far as I know.

Well as fine as you can be after sacrificing your marriage and unborn child to the devil in order to resurrect your Aunt who was totally fine with dying anyway.

Boy, "One More Day" sucked...

Wait...he did that? Sorry havent been in marvel for a while....and i do think that was unreasonable for the character....sacrificing their love so that May's soul wouldn't be in mephisto's hands would have been more reasonable.

Remember that ultimately it was Mary Jane that pushed him into saying yes. She was gambling that no matter what Mephisto did, their love would find each other in the end.

That was a retcon which made things worse because people hated "One More Day"
