Spell DCs

Playing the Game

I can't seem to find how the Spell DCs work in the playtest book. Could anyone give me a quick rundown? For example, I'm casting Fireball with a level 7 character and my INT is 18. What would the DC to be and how would I calculate it?

Thank you Paizonians!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Spell DC = 10 + Level (7) + Proficiency Rank (Trained, +0) + Spellcasting Ability Modifier (4) + Other Modifiers (0) = 21

All DCs are calculated this way, for the case of non-spellcasters that use abilities with saves, and all spells use the same DC.

As above. 10+Level + proficiency rank + casting mod. (Technically it's "10+Proficiency+Casting Mod" but "Proficiency" is just your level plus the bonus from your UTEML rank.

And for any other kind of DC (Will DC, Athletics DC,etc.) it's just your bonus to that skill/save plus 10.

The updated character sheet from errata actually breaks it down into its components for you, I believe.

Which is why no one outside of Paizo lists it that way.

(Personally I say "Level + TEML" instead of "Proficiency")
