Advice

My brother who is in the Army just sent me a letter asking for some information but I am unfamiliar with pathfinder and haven't played any RPGs for years. If anyone could help me find the information needed I would be ever so grateful.

This is what he wanted:

Stats for special abilities (all races and classes for first five levels) including specials, bonuses, feats, skills, and skill points.
Character sheet.
Level one basis for all classes (feats/spells to use, etc.).

Please help me out! Thanks

If he has Internet access where he is stationed send him this link.

And there are hundreds of printable character sheets online as well.

It sounds like he might want a PDF of the Beginner Box. You can get it here for only $9.99:

Welcome to the Boards and to Paizo Publishing

Data can be found in the PRD, and d20PFsrd.com.

The character sheet can be found in the download's section, in the top left corner of the website.

He implied that I could fit all of the info he needed in a relatively small letter and there seems to be a WHOLE lot of stuff. I am completely lost as to what he needs. If it's possible to cut and paste into a file and email it to me I would be really grateful.
I apologize for being a pain. I wish I knew what to do.

If he doesn't have internet access you could probably go through the PRD/d20pfsrd.com and save every class, race and "category" list (feats, special abilities) as a seperate file (mhtml or something so there is only one file per) and email those. He could then save the files on a personal laptop to access later.

Other than that, he may want to invest in some sort of program like Herolab to have most everything accessible when he wants it if the internet isn't normally available where he is. You might be able to purchase it and download the program then save to cd/thumb drive with the unlock code or whatever they do.

Do your own legwork, please. Lazurin Arborlon's link has EVERYTHING YOU NEED easily sorted and categorized for you to cut and paste.

You got your help. Don't push it. If you're missing anything after you check those sites, you can ask here again.

It's one thing to ask people to point out resources... but seriously? You're unwilling to click, cut, and paste yourself? You won't even LOOK before you deign to pass the buck?

If he YOUR brother, or OUR brother?

On the mentioned site, d20pfsrd, there is an option to download ann the stuff. So you could even download it for him and send him a small flash device with the data.

Some people I play with have it on their mobile phones or pads, so there are a lot of options.

In my opinion, your brother is asking for a lot of information. A lot more than what would be easy to write down in a letter to send to him - especially if you are not familiar with the game. We are talking pages and pages of text. Basically just for the Core races and classes that is Chapters 2-5 of the Core Rulebook a total of 117 pages. And that doesn't include any spells or equipment. And there are about 4 other hardcover books with more race and class info.

Perhaps you could ask him to be more specific.

Easy guys, I dont think Aussie knows what he is asking for, so he doesnt know how difficult it would be to write it all down in an email or send as a letter. After all this is for someone who is in military service we do not know the limitations imposed by where the man is stationed either.

Aussie here is the deal though bud, your are asking for the amount of information that equates to about the first 5 chapters of a standard high school text book. Its not something we could easily write down for you, nor is it an undertaking that would easily translate to email.

My suggestion to you is to download the PDF's and send them electronically or to guide your brother to the links I provided. Sending a document this size in real paper will be costly.

I'd say get him to buy the PDF of the rulebook.

Depending upon where he is stationed, the links or pdfs might not be accessible. A paper copy may be required.

Like DW said, probably the closest you could come is the beginner box and mail him that.

It would be SUPER awesome if he could get it to his bro though. Long hours of boredom isn't great for the fighting spirit, and what better way to keep your spirits high in your off time as an american hero than being a fantasy hero?

Aussie, don't give up, but disabuse yourself of the notion this is an envelope's worth of info.

I've never been in the service, but I'd imagine the most precious thing a remotely stationed infantryman could possess would be an RPG core rulebook, and a girlie mag.

Yeah- best bet is if you can get him a beginner box somehow. Then he'll have everything he needs to play in one package.
