Sorcerer / Ninja wants spells to make things flat-footed.

Advice

I am really tired and worn out and have to make a sorcerer/ninja for a game tomorrow. Blurg. So tired.

So what spells make enemies flat-footed? Don't worry about spell levels. I'll be able to get all nine.

Grease.

That's a really awkward way of doing it.

Invisibility/Greater Invisibility. There's even Ninja Tricks to get both.

Feinting in combat (kind of confusing, and may be feat-starved.)

Good ole fashion Stealth creativity.

Yeah, oh well. I was thinking of looking for more means than just invisibility. At the very least, blur provides concealment for stealth.

What level and are you fixed on sorcerer?

The classes are fixed. What's done with them is currently not. Level is irrelevant, as the character is gestalt and has full progression in both.

Well if you can get traits then two world magic can net you the
Unwitting ally spell.

As a third level spell Twilight Knife gives several rounds of flanking.

Or as a 4th level spell you can use Overwhelming Grief But by then you can start getting the Dimensional Agility Feats which are better than most spells.

Of course you can also just use summons to get flanking buddies.

Color Spray makes them stunned on a failed save. Good enough for sneak attack goodness. Quicken it for a 5th level spell slot.

I'm not quite sure how Grease flat-foots people. I see the line at the end that says creatures that do not move are not considered flat-footed, but not any part of the spell that causes it. All I see it doing is making people prone. What am I missing?

If you are just looking for sneak attacks, summons always help provide flanks.

I couldn't find anything in the SRD that directly causes the flat-footed condition, besides: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/r/recoil-fire

Grease is awesome. Was demoing d20Pro at Origins and we were using Grease constantly to flatfoot people for the rogue archer (me). Works great against non rogues.

Oh, I don't disagree that grease is a great spell. It really is, and it has disarm and anti-grapple applications as well, in addition to the traditional make-'em-fall battlefield control.

I just don't see where it makes enemies flat-footed. If anything, the prone enemies should've been harder for your rogue archer to hit.

I think in PF people are only flat-footed when they are moving in the area of Grease, not merely whent they are standing in it. You can still use it by readying an attack for when they move, but it's less practical and doesn't let you get full-attack.

Sneak attacks aren't really a concern. That's fine. The party will have a barbarian/witch voodoomonster jumping into melee to flank with if that becomes necessary.

The main shiny thing is the 10th level Assassinate ninja trick. :3

1. Observe target. 2. Dimensional assault unaware target. 3. Profit!

Is there by Raw anything against using blur as HIPS ? I am not allowing it in my games regardless but was just wondering, same thing with displacement the fact that creatures must see you for the spell to work seems counter productive..

Grease has been nerfed a bit in PF even though it is still good it isn't quite that lethal anymore.

I don't believe there is. It's outright concealment. No limitations like displacement.

Anything preventing you from just going:
Round 1: Vanishing Trick, move (stealth), study for Assassinate
Round 2: Flurry of Stars (or Dimensional Assault, sure).

Vision of Hell (Sorc 3) is a good one when combined with the Shatter Defenses feat. You lay out a nice 50 ft. radius emanation and everything in it is considered flat-footed (in addition to the shaken condition caused by the spell). Of course, that's a two feat investment and it gets a little sad when a party member fails their save.....
