Other adventures located near Sandpoint?

Beginner Box

Besides the 2 adventures in the Beginner Box and the 4 Beginner Box Bash adventures from the website are there any other published adventures that are based out of or take place near Sandpoint?

Besides the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path that is.

Jade regent starts in sandpoint. But doesnt stay there long.

Well, there is Feast of Ravenmoor, which takes place a few days' travel away, and would tie in well with an adventuring group based in Sandpoint.

We Be Goblins takes place near Sandpoint, but in that adventure, the players are playing Goblins. Which is very fun, but might not be what you are looking for.

The Harrowing is a great module that could be dropped in anywhere but fits well with Varisia, however, it's 9th level, so it will be a while before your players can take it on.

Finally, as Carn suggested, the first volume of Jade Regent, The Brinewall Legacy takes place in and around Sandpoint. You could probably run it as a standalone adventure pretty easily, stopping after dealing with the Goblins in Brinestump Marsh.

Likewise, even though it sounds like you don't want to jump into Rise of the Runelords right now, you could make the first book into a standalone adventure very easily. In fact, you could probably get your existing characters right up to about 5th level using the first book, Burnt Offerings. Even if you don't want to run that adventure, I would highly recommend picking up the pdf of the first book, because it includes a gazetteer of Sandpoint, which is chock full of adventure hooks for you to spin out into your own stories!

Good luck, and have fun!

An impossibly long time, as the Beginner box only goes up to 5th level.

;)

Just sayin'.

Well, I was assuming that they would "graduate" to the full Pathfinder rules eventually. But yeah, it's a bit outside the scope of the Beginner Box.

Also, if you haven't picked up the Beginner Box GM Kit yet, there is another short adventure in there.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I've no issues with jumping into Rise of the Runelords, I just wanted to see what all adventures were available for the Sandpoint area.

Do you know if any of the PFS adventures take place in the area?

I did a quick glance through the available offerings, and I didn't see any that jumped out at me. I have played "Murder on the Throaty Mermaid", which starts out in Magnimar (the closest real city to Sandpoint), but the whole of the adventure really takes place on a ship. It really just starts there at the beginning.

However, the new crop of scenarios coming out this August *does* have quite a few that take place in Varisia, and I'm sure at least some of them will be set near Sandpoint.

There are a number of modules that could easily be adapted for play near Sandpoint.

As a side-quest in my Rise of the Runelords campaing, I ran the Pathfinder Society Scenario, King Xeros of Old Azlant, set in Magnimar instead of Absalom (and re-titled "Ghost Ship of Thassilon"), re-skinning all the Azlanti stuff to be Thassilonian. (I also used the Chelish faction mission, tying that MacGuffin into RotRL.) It's a 3.5 module, so I had to adapt it slightly for PF, but I just used all the same monsters with their PF stats from the Bestiary.

For my kid and her friends, who are all new to RPGs, I ran Master of the Fallen Fortress set near Sandpoint. Instead of an ancient siege engine on the Isle of Kortos near Absalom, I made it into a Thassilonian ruin on one of the mesas in the Sandpoint Hinterlands. Plus, it's a free PDF!

And, it's higher level, but Dawn of the Scarlet Sun is set in Magnimar. It's also free!

Also free: in Wayfinder #7, there's a short adventure set in Sandpoint called "Chopper's Isle". I ran an earlier version of this adventure as as side-quest in my RotRL game, and it went very well.

There are an number of PFS scenarios coming out this year that are set in the general vicinity of Magnimar: 2012 is Paizo's "Year of Varisia."

Oh, and the upcoming Shattered Star AP is also going to be set in Varisia.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look at them.

Also, does anyone know if the 2 Basic Paths modules from 01 Games are set in Golarion/Valusia or some other setting?

The 0One Basic Path games take part in a town called Gafolweed that can be dropped in any fantasy setting. I only own the first one so far, but I highly recommend it.

Ah, thanks for the recommendations.

I just bought the Beginner Box to play a game with my son and my wife. My son has dabbled in this for years and I have played here and there since the early 80's. I have a very rudimentary understanding of the rules and DM'd for the first time with this. We had a ball, albeit with alot of pauses to get everything right. We have another noob coming over this afternoon to give the RPG table top gaming world a whirl.

Should I just go with the next suggested adventure out of the beginner's box "Ruins of Raven's Watch" or should I try my hand at the "Brinewall Legacy" that I bought yesterday. I want this to be a fairly quick adventure as not to bore my wife and our friend.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the Beginner Box page on Paizo.com for the free Beginnier Box Bash adventures. They're short adventures. Or download the free GM kit and get the "Mines" adventure, also free.

Cool, thanks alot!

If you buy Brinewall Legacy and Burnt Offerings you can basically build an entire Sandpoint Sandbox full of Goblins and treasures and plot hooks.

Well you can always go too the golden goblin at riddleport and play in the famous poker tournament.
Riddleport is a bit north of sand point and also where the adventure path second darkness takes place.

Issue 1 of the Pathfinder comic has a 1st level encounter set in Sandpoint, along with a description of Sandpoint, stats for a couple of Sandpoint NPCs, a small map of Sandpoint, 1st lvl stats for 4 of the iconics (I haven't compared these to the BB stats) and a pull out map card. The comic itself has lots of Sandpoint flavour.

Andoran

Rise of the Goblin GUild PFS is set in Magnimar, Also I think Goblin blood Dead, NEw PFS scenarios
