Spell combat, spellstrike and casting defensively.

Rules Questions

Sovereign Court

So I have a question about the magus. Can a magus (say fourth level) use spell combat to attack once with his primary weapon, then use spellstrike to channel a spell through his weapon and attack, while casting the spell defensively?

yes.

Dark Archive

I didnt notice this before the Magus keeps getting better and better!!!

Sovereign Court

So a magus with a longsword casting shocking grasp can do in two attacks (while casting defensively mind) 1d8+str (first attack) and then 1d8+str+shocking grasp damage (second attack as per spell combat)?

That is... crazy powerful for damage.

Yes! Yes it is. I one round ko'd a worg with my 2nd lvl magus last night with that very same combination. Although I was wielding a scimitar and happened to crit on the Spellstrike. But still, nasty spike dmg.
