re: Kitsune looking for extra tails

Advice

Silver Crusade

I was taking a look at the extra tail feat. It looks like allot of fun. It seems like you can take the feat 8 times. What would be the quickest way to get all of those feats? thanks

As they don't appear to be fighter bonus feats, looks like the fastest way to get them all is to be level 15.

I'm not up much on the whole "Nine-tailed fox" lore, but I seem to recall those with all nine tails being pretty danged powerful, like right around where a 15th level character would be.

I presume you mean Magical Tail? Since it's a racial feat, not a combat feat, the only way to get all 8 would be to take the feat every odd level. Beyond that, you'd need DM intervention, or maybe a Wish spell...

Silver Crusade

ah yes, it would be magical tail. Thank you

An eeeevil Kitsune might decide to take a shortcut, and use some cruel magic to steal tails from other Kitsune and graft them to themself...

Liberty's Edge

If doing this, I'd go ninja for class. Spellcasters, they're probably not worth it (being just a few extra spells), and nobody else is both appropriate and Charisma based. Also, tricky nine-tailed Kitsune Ninja? Thematic gold.

And it can use Ninja Tricks to make up for all it's level-based Feats being taken up, something like this:

2: Finesse Rogue
4: Vanishing Trick
6: Combat Feat - TWF
8: Shadow Clones
10: Invisible Blade
12: Evasion
14: Feat - ITWF

I saw the feat for multiple tails and spent a little bit of time pondering how it would work in my campaign. What I came up with provides a great cover story and should add great RP value.

Multiple tails are signs of expanding the innate magic of the kitsune. Problem is many in the past have taken short cuts in expanding it which frequently leads to demonic possession. These decadent souls are pretty much lost and become major villains, even centuries after their deaths their actions have repercussions still being felt.

Because of this those few that take more natural ways in developing their powers are shunned, even hunted. Most will flee their communities to dwell hidden among humans rather than risk their life.

Admit I had this exact character concept. Most of the Kitsune tail feats seem absolutely perfect for enhancing this sort of character. Honestly Kitsune in general already made very powerful ninjas so this really just sweetened the deal.

I've been thinking about this lately, but I'm not sure about going Ninja. I was actually thinking a caster would work best, since you wouldn't miss the feats as much as a non-Martial class. Perhaps something like an Oracle, since so many of the spell-likes you get are Arcane?

EDIT: Seems like you could easily do this as an Oracle 5/Mystic Theurge 10, since by 5th level you'll be able to cast a 2nd level arcane spell (Misdirection) via the Magical Tail feat.
