Paizo artists

Paizo General Discussion

With all the glorious artwork in Paizo products, is it possible for a struggling new artist to get his foot in the door? Obviously it is a very competitive field, and Paizo as a company is satisfied with the material they get from their regular artists, but do artistic fans such as myself, who possess an overwhelming love for the game and its company, have a chance to one day contribute to the multitude of talent that Paizo represents?
Until such a time comes, I shall continue to grow my portfolio and be inspired by the artists who do grace the pages of these books while working towards a bachelor's in fine arts.

Sometimes it seems like its all WAR, but actually there are quite a few.

Keep a look out for the artists call for the next Wayfinder fanzine and contact some third-party publishers. That might open some doors for you.

Yep, the advice for artists is pretty much the same as for authours, get yourself into as many products Paizo are likely to see. They have a reasonable spread of artists, but I'm sure they always need more - artist don't work out, are too busy to do a project, aren't suited to a product, or even another artist impresses them enough to get a try.

I believe once you have a good sized portfolio built up, Sarah Robinson is the one you would want to contact... i could be wrong though

Or Seoni.

See, the digital stuff is nice, but I really go for this traditional watercolorist. She'd be fantastic for some First World illustrations! Love the Iron John cover she did...I used him for a character portrait once, an old dwarf druid.

As the Editor-in-Chief (and some tell me that I'm really more of the publisher of it now)of the Wayfinder fanzine, I STRONGLY encourage you to point me towards your stuff (like on a website or DeviantArt). Wayfinder seems to be becoming a sort of launching pad for authors AND artists into the Pathfinder section of the RPG industry. I've been asked for artist recommendations by 3PP, and I've also made strong suggestions to some 3PP about artists we've used that are seriously talented enough to move up to the majors IMO.

I'm always on the lookout for new people to give art assignments to. BUT, I can't do that if I don't know who you are.....

Removed a post, this was unnecessary.

As Tim mentioned above, Wayfinder is an excellent place to start. We also have an art department address that you can send portfolio links to: artsubmissions@paizo.com.
