Doyle Taghaur |
Dolok blinks at Doyle in thought.
"Whats a book? and why is a bat talking to me? you some bound creature to a magic user?"
He grabs Doyle and shakes him lightly then sets him back upright on the beam.
The poor bat tries to answer while being shaken "KrEiGhTon ShaAAAaane is GoInG to hAvE his WOrk cUUT OUt fooor him...Erm.. something like that. I'm bound to someone but they're taking a vacation in the mawangi expanse" he swings back to the upside down position and continues as if this were perfectly normal.
A book has words written in it. Its a wonderful way to have someone tell you things that they can't stand in the room and tell you, usually because its too much information, you're not in the same spot, or the auth.. person who wrote the book is dead. Its a way to write your words on the winds of time.
Sometimes people want to talk in person though. Its why they called me back from Rahadoum.
"not sure if that was right greeting for bat...but i hope your not offended."
at least you didn't use the broom...
Dolok the Shield |
Dolok shrugs.
"so many things to remember and identify... this broom for example... that is also a new word. My people are just not used to the dwellings of stone which you live in. We hunt and move with the herds of the land.. knowledge is spread by tales and the deeds of our kin. The ancestors and honor brothers of the Frost Giants... writing is rare. Some know the runes, while i do not."
Dolo sighs.
"But that is for another time... "
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
Rhon grabs a round of stout Dwarven Ale for Dolok and himself and passes the drinks around.
"Ahh....Pardon my manners. I forgot to ask if you would like a drink." said while looking towards the rather large bat that Dolok has been speaking with.
"Dolok ships are used for sailing on oceans and large seas. Boats on the other hand are used for traversing lakes and ponds as well as for traveling on rivers."
Dolok the Shield |
"I see... and these oceans are just larger bodies of water? I know of the rivers and lakes of my peoples lands. My travels down here brought me to great bodies of water... how do you tell oceans from seas?"
He raises the Mug of ale in a salute and downs the contents.
"Interesting flavor... what do they call that?"
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
"Yes Dolok, oceans are just really large bodies of water. The easiest way that I know of to determine between a sea and an ocean is by the amount of time it takes to traverse it. If it takes more than three days to cross you are more than likely traversing an ocean. However if it takes three or less days than it was most likely a sea."
"Perhaps there is someone amongst this astute group of adventures that can explain it more clearly for you than I. I never have been very good at geography. This is why I always try to have a map of my destination and of my route of travel to that destination."
"The ale that you just had was crafted by the Tenkegs clan. They are the finest brewers in all the land. If my memory serves me correctly this particular blend is called "Beard Prickler" because it can make your hair stand on end due to its rich taste."
Dolok the Shield |
Dolok nods and sets the mug on raft next to the bat. With a single stride forward he steps next to Rhon and clasps his free forearm in a warriors greeting.
"Thank you friend Rhon, not many speak as casual with me... seeing me as some primitive from the north... from the north yes, but i am far from primitive. It is true, we live differently... but that is due to need, not desire."
Bree-Bran |
"Well," the overarmed Chelish woman speaks up, "Here it really don't matter where you are from. What matters is what you intend. If you fight for the good of Golarion, you are one of us."
"I've met those from all over the world, as far as the Tiens, and Mwangi. If someone bothers you about where your parents started you, that person is the problem." She smiles a little ruefully. "I know my former countryment are famous for such attitudes."
Dolok the Shield |
"My people have fought for many generations against the plague of the lands of Sarkoris. Diseased animals have had to be put down, and the waste of precious food supply put to the torch and cleansed... many only see the suffering of the southern peoples and fail to see the sparse populations of the west and east of that cursed land."
He shakes his head.
"I have traveled a great distance yes, but to call me knowledgeable in this world is a falsehood... i know nothing of most other people in this Golarion as you call it. My parents started me..."
He chuckles.
"I could not tell you where, but apparently i was quite a kicker."
Dolok the Shield |
Dolok nods.
"that is good, some of my people blame the blight upon those of that faith... i do not know why, but hatred seems to run deep among some. Tales from before my time speak of the Druids of that nation, and there responsibility... but i do not know what for... or how?"
He sighs.
"If you travel to the north lands, i suggest you cover that bald head of yours... you will loose a great deal of your bodies warmth. I suppose a fur cap would do well... do the southern women prefer that style of hair... i have seen a few walking around such as yourself."
Venshad |
I am Augustus Maximus, first of my name, follower of Iomedae.
Although not a paladin in strenght of arms, I took the same vows, for my convictions are stronguer than mere flesh and bone.
I wield not the sword and shield, but The Art is my weapon and armour.
With Iomedae's guidance, I'll scorch evil with holy fire.
Zervania |
Zee bursts back into the room looking quite bedraggled and thin, even more frail than normal.
"GOD'S ABOVE! how long have I been gone?!"
"I've just returned from the World Wound! you wouldnt believe the things ive seen... time is... time is different in the wound... i was heading up an investigation, sending units after strange relics... ive said too much about that, our advanced base was assaulted and i was captured by the Demons... ive been to the other side... I need a strong drink... now!"
OOC: my apologies for the long time away, friends, ive been working so much lately that ive not even played pathfinder since july! im going through withdrawl! xD it is nice to be back though, i will soon begin playing a Kitsune Arcane Trickster in a home campaign, so i feel ill be getting my fix soon enough.
Gareth Silversong |
"I swear by the Inheritor, if I have to bail out that fool Blakros one more time, I shall be sorely tempted to burn his accursed museum to the ground to cleanse the evil that clearly infests the place," Gareth growls as he pushes open a side door, deftly turning his shoulders to get his sheathed greatsword through the doorframe. "When is the next departure for Avistan and Mendev? I feel I should be quit of Absalom for a time, and would see the Diamond of the North."
Bree-Bran |
"If you can find a Venture Captain needing a mission performed, transport can be quick, easy, and painless. Since my discovery of the use of the Tapestry, I find myself travelling much more than in the past." The overarmed and -armored woman grins a little ferally. "I do like doing my part up there. Gets me a chance to put my training to good use."
Bhaene |
'What skills I have shall unfold," She smiles. "I have been taught to listen to what is not spoken, to see what is concealed. I have found entertaining on stage, and for others places me in a good position for applying my talents. Doors open for me, that do not open for others, and tongues become loose around those who offer no threat."
Dolok the Shield |
"Right... so you can't swing a sword? aren't blessed by the spirits or empowered to destroy the demonic forces of Sarkoris with the forces of nature? Perhaps a Bow?"
He sighs.
"From what i am used to, its fight or die... tongues loose warcry's with promises of glory. There are no stages... only hunting grounds, the only doors i have known prior to heading south is the leather flaps to our steadings."
He smiles.
"But i see that guile comes with your pretty face."
Bree-Bran |
"There are those of us who can fight, and some of us don't need to be inspired to face the forces of the WorldWound. However, there are many who desire to help, but their intent is greater than their means. So, inspiration and guidance can help those achieve what might be beyond them."
The armored woman nods to the dancer and the companion. "All who want to defend the world, and oppose the horrors that encroach are welcome, and desired. If the front lines are too difficult, giving succor and entertainment in Nerosyan cannot hurt as well."
Bree-Bran offers a smile, and passes over a bottle of OldLaw.
Auge |
<<A short being clips into the room accompanied by a small white fox. His clothes range from black to weathered black but don't go so far as to hide the cloven feet of the fey>>
Well met all!
I am Auge otherwise known as 'the Blackcap' and this is Cauda. For too long we called Irrisen home and now we stand here, ready to serve the society (and the Silver Crusade) as scouts.
Bhaene |
*Nods at Bree-Bran*, "I shall head for Neryson, and if along the way my talents mature enough to be of even more help, so be it." Bhaene begins a dance of twirls and spins, the astute notice a ting of magic in her performance, then she dashes off at incredible speed for one on foot.(The magic also effects Dolok, and any others nearby, if they so chooses to run with Bhaene.)
Dolok the Shield |
Dolok chases after the Bhaene, viewing the whole event as some competition or test of endurance. Any whom follow the dance running party will see that he is clearly faster then a normal human, marking him as either a barbarian or monk.
"this is a useful talent Bhaene, it allows us to close faster with the enemy."
Bhaene |
*Nods at Dolok* "Yes it does, or allows quicker travel, or retreat away from overwhelming odds."Smiling as she runs, "My mentor said it would come in handy in many circumstances." At that point she also begins singing, and the air pulses with energy that refreshes the runners, preventing exhaustion. Bhaene Sidhe laughs, "I can run all day!"
Bhaene |
"You may have guessed I do not originate from this world, but from another world. The journey here while it did not rob me of memory, did rob me of some of my power." Bhaene laughs a bit again, "or maybe that was the gods price for my defying them in the outer planes. However it maybe, I now only have access to the very first songs I was ever taught. Two of which I am weaving together for you now. Accelerando, and Jig of Vigor. I was a well honored in my home world, a protector. Now I am but a dancer."
Dolok the Shield |
"planes... another world... are you something other then what you appear?"
Dolok seems a bit wary, his smile fades.
"Many of my people have been tricked by the false images which the demons of the scarred earth have used against us. One must never defy the gods, for they show us direction and guide us on to paths which normally are not open to us, on our own. Gorum, has shown me that..."
Auge |
"Thank you Dolok,to be honest I am not quite sure who I am entirely...we didn't have the opportunity to talk with our captors whilst escaping Chillblight... but we are looking forward to spending some time with a White Witch should the opportunity present itself".
<Auge shifts in his seat, reaching for his mulled wine and raising it for a toast>
"Here's to ending slavery!"
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
Rhon walks over to Thereus and shakes his hand while saying "Welcome Thereus, come sit and have a drink, for tomorrow we all could die."
"It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Service to Silver Crusade is a noble pursuit and one that will lead you on many any interesting adventure. I only ask one thing of you though, always remember to do what you feel is right no matter the circumstances or the peer pressure you may receive."
When Rhon finishing speaking he quickly downs a mug of finest Dwarven Ale and gestures for another.
Silhren Rilbahn |
A soft song plays gently, carried to the ears of others nearby. A handsome young man stands before his fellow faction members. Sparkling green eyes seem friendly and inviting, long black hair rests in a simple ponytail. Recently cleaned armor shined with a holy symbol of The Eternal Rose displayed on a tabard with a glaive slung over his back.
"Greetings, fellow Crusaders... I'm Silhren Rilbahn, Divine Defender and Paladin of Shelyn." He lingers for just a moment before taking a seat. "I've heard about what happened in Mendev.. I have not seen the damage first hand, but I hope to go and offer my services as soon as possible.."
Genesis Garland |
Unlike those pleasing to the eye, this young warrior enters with a most blank like expression. His face and body features mainly covered by tattered robes and dented armor. Much of his attire seemed to be in dire need of repair. He wasn't much for a man of appearances mainly due to the fact of his rather sponged lifestyle, living off his meager earnings. If he had an excuse for his appearance it would be lack of currency. It was clear by a mere glance that his young man had seen enough battle for a seasoned veteran, but a boy is still a boy and has plenty of room for error.
He wore his scuffs and nicks proudly, despite being able to tell on his face. On his waist was a blade, exotic by look simply by its sheath but like the rest of his attire, the home for his blade was in equal disrepair. This man could be connected to ragged bandit or rather a beggar just with a bit more bite. In his eyes if one should choose to look hard enough, one would be able to see his hardships and how he is simply searching.
Before the faction stands a man who to him, the gods haven't written a destiny. Was it part of their plan that he would stumble across this faction, or that which compelled him to want to be a part of this society? To him it wasn't likely, he simply had heard of their worth. He believed himself a weapon, to be wielded in whatever form he so chose. But even so, the lost require a purpose. Right now, was a man clinging on to the thought that there was certainly a place out there.
Much like a blunt and weathered blade, deep inside he wished to be held up much like a memento, and sung tales of its strength, to then become legend and to be burnt into the invisible tablets of the world history.
Silver Crusader Rhon Delver |
"Come young pathfinders, sit with me, and tell me your tales of trial and tribulation. I will get you all a drink."
Rhon gestures to Silhren and Genesis to join him at his table.
Sitting before you is a male Dwarf who appears to be approaching his middle years. His green eyes are sharp, appearing not to miss a single detail. His hair is black as night and is beard is intricately braided with a silver beard clasp holding it together. His full plate armor is highly polished but dinged and dented from years of adventure and exploration. His shield and axe are leaned up against his chair and you can easily note the holy symbol of Torag emblazoned upon the shield. Rhon has a silver tankard in hand that he is gesturing to you with.
"Welcome to the Silver Crusade how might we assist you."
Genesis Garland |
Genesis slowly made his way towards the Dwarf who gestured to him. The offering of a drink was tempting since he hadn't had something with flavor for some time. He obviously towered over the man in height but the Dwarf before him looked much more seasoned than himself. His well kept armor and weaponry look to have had several adventures something that he one day hoped to also have. "I am not sure, I had heard of the Silver Crusade and had hopes that I might finally find a place for myself."
He spoke in a tone that reflected his long travel. He searched for a place where his endeavors would be accepted so far the Silvers Crusade hospitality was refreshing, definitely a change from scavenging.
Genesis Garland |
Taking the ale in his right hand he lifted it up, showing respects before downing about half of it. Dwarven ale was strong, and much different from the relatively subtle humanized alcohols. He clenched his teeth to the burn that it gave going down his throat and exhaled a heated breath, it nearly made his eyes water. "I don't quite understand how you can stomach this so easily." He said with a chuckle, there was no way he would be able to take another swig so quickly so he'd wait for a bit before his next self infliction.
"I do hope that is true-" He replied to the man who gave him the ale. "I am often frowned upon for taking an unhealthy liking to the fight." He admitted, it was the reason no one really enjoyed employing him, and why his gear was in a state of decay.
Thordin Mugsmasher |
A sour faced middle aged dwarf enters the hall. He's dressed very plainly with a red tabard; and plan trousers.
His fiery beard has a few tinges of grey around the edges.
"Y'know what? It occurs to me that plants are better than people. Think about it. If I plant an apple seed, and care for it. Eventually that seed'll grow into a tree. but people;"
he clenches his fists angrily.
"You can care about people, you can raise them from when their little, care for them when their sick, sacrifice your time, effort and energy; and still..."
he raises his voice
"and STILL they can treat you like some filth to be scraped off their boot!"
He takes a deep breath; some of his anger appears to have left him.
"and yet " he mutters "here I am, in the midst of do gooders and idealists. Here I am, still risking life and limb for ungrateful bastards. I must be the daftest dwarf on this planet."
Thordin Mugsmasher |
Oh aye. But it get's hard . So so hard. Especially when its your own kin who let you down. My daughter... never mind. Its too long a story and its wounds to fresh
Im here. And ill help. Just dont expect me to be shouting joyous tidings and how do you do's
And if anyone tells me that its all some gods holy plan I'm liable to have a violent disagreement with them.
Augustine Jaeger |
A tiefling in a dark cloak steps out of the shadows. "Sometimes that's the best way, Thordin. If you go around shouting joyful tidings all the time, the bad guys will hear you coming." He flashes a toothy grin.
"And whatever vows of honest dealing and fair fighting you may have sworn . . ." He pauses to look around the room, noting the presence of several obvious paladins. "There are plenty of folk that will take a cheap shot if they get the jump on you!"
