That said, it's probably best to just take him out. He's a liability at the moment and we're not in a strong enough position just yet where we can take any major risks. Besides, I need a few more spells before I can do the kind of paranoia-inducing things I'd really like to do.

Eh, we can always leave him gagged and shackled in here for now, and then see how things turn out. It isn't like the alarm won't be raised when they notice us missing (plus the dead body).

Also, I like the more slow, methodical temptation of pleasure and power, convincing him of how wrong the church is (or at least the people who run it), etc over fear and paranoia. Perfect for charm person spells, which I think we both have.

I didn't make the perception rolls since I believe you want to do those yourself.

Just noticed Kennie should be +3 with the bow. +2 bab +1 dex

I like this guy. We give him toughness and or power attack, breast plate, his shield, sword, a Combat trained horse and he will be awesome. Could be a great squire for Erik if he is into that sort of thing or more likely a bodyguard for one the more fragile (but no less Deadly) female party members.

Not really, they all have a -1 penality because of moral. The prison is in shambles, they sargent is a bully and keep cheating then, the Prison Warden, don't leave his tower. All in all, they are not motivated and get a -1 :D

Actually, if I recall, using a light weapon in two hands does not get the benefit of 1.5x str to damage.

@Zerik, I do like the idea of squires and leadership. I do know some DMs don't like PCs getting too many NPC followers/cohorts (or any at all) so I was going to wait until later about all that.

Couple of things about Eric that I should have clarified a little bit further: He isn't formally trained in fighting nor is he intelligent (Int=8) so I wasn't planning to use more advanced tactics with hims until later (e.g. coup de grace, flanking, etc). Trying to play up the slightly slower Int and the background a little bit. Sorry for any confusion (and for making a mess of plans XD). I promise, he will get better at his role in the party soon-ish.

Also, it seems like everything happens after midnight. :)

Understood. And of course, play to your character (advanced plans or not). : )

Though I will put forth the argument that a coup de grace is not any kind of advanced technique. You just have an opponent that can't resist so you take the time to make sure you hit them in a vital area (if you can slit a throat, you can coup de grace).

And yeah, the night I decide to watch a movie with a friend of mine and that's when everyone is on and being active. :D

Remember than even animals (like wolves) flank, and they have Int 1-2. You can play it how you want, of course.

Climbing with a rope is DC 5 so it shouldn't an issue if you take 10 you make it automatically.

If you have to roll unless you miss the DC by less than 5 (which isn't possible on a DC 5 roll) you make no progress so climbing a rope isn't an issue for anyone unless they have less than 10 strength and roll a 1.

I was under the impression that the sun had set by now since quite a bit had happened since I first went up on the roof the first time. Then came back down, told them what I saw, went to the kitchens told them what I saw, then the passage, discussed the best course of action.

I don't think we would have climbed out onto the roof in daylight when we knew there were guards about. Besides, unless I'm mistaken, dusk *half an hour to sunset) is low light, so can the guards see that far? Sorry if I sound like I'm being difficult should have specified when we went up. Since it's happened we cal roll with it :)

I think we intended to lock him up, alive and gagged, in a cell and to come back for him if things went well, though rereading the thread I can see how that wouldn't be clear. And of course I'm not against killing him if we have to.

That was my understanding as well.
