(Instant) shrimp pad thai (meh, it was fuel)
1/2 large banana
Glass of sweetened tea
I need to send you some REAL BROOKLYN PIZZA
I actually make a pretty good pizza myself. Nice airy/bubbly, chewy inside, lightly crunchy Neapolitian-style crust with a little char -- the flavor secret is letting the dough ferment in the fridge for at least 24 hours. I've used mineral water before, but it doesn't seem to have any noticeable taste difference over my filtered water.
Blast bake the raw nekkid crust off in the oven a few minutes, pull it back out, add 2/3 of the mozzarella directly on the crust, then top with homemade sauce (ripest Roma tomatoes and any heirloom tomatoes I can get, good pinch of red pepper flakes, dried oregano, chopped fresh basil, and olive oil). Add on the rest of the mozzarella, some freshly grated good parm (not the pre-grated substance in the shaker), any other toppings, a very light drizzle of olive oil, then back in the oven until done. Cheese directly on the crust keeps the sauce from sogging the crust, and it bubbles up through the sauce.
I'd eat pizza much more often, but it takes time and work especially with my bread machine on the fritz. I only baked bread in it once, but it did an awesome job kneading the pizza dough.
I went to a fast food/restaurant cross-over that sells food by weight. You pick what you want at the counter and pay for it all.
I picked some fried fish, some fish in veggies, some pork meat in veggies, some grilled pork, some noodles, two or three kinds of veggies, and a single roll of sushi.
Makes plans to harvest pumpkins and possibly do a Supermanesque fly around the globe to reverse time thingy, ends up sorting half the laundry and crashing on the couch watching the Masterchef semifinals.
Lunch:
Semi-fancy steak & cheese burrito (pretty good, but why is there corn in here? Surprise corn = Boo!)
Small bowl of mixed melon chunks
Pot of black cherry French yogurt
Small glass of fruit punch
A sort of salad made of chicken kebab meat bought from Lidl, with a mix of lettuces and similar veggies (also bought in Lidl), and sauce made from mayo, yogurt, and cream, with some powdered garlic added in.
About 2 cups of creamy "Mediterranean"* chicken pasta salad
5 oz pot of mixed berry yogurt
Large glass of piña-pineapple kool-aid
Mediterranean pasta salad:
Box of creamy Italian pasta salad kit (example), prepared according to instructions
Add to it:
roughly half a rotisserie or roasted chicken, meat picked clean from bones, roughly chopped
⅔ cup/175 ml (jarred) roasted red pepper, chopped/diced
⅔ cup/175 ml fresh tomato, chopped
½ cup/125 ml extra of a good mayonnaise
10-12 kalamata olives, diced
1 tsp/5 ml Italian seasoning blend
Handful of fresh parsley, minced (or ½ tbsp dried parsley)
Salt to taste (optional, I didn't need it because of briny olives)
Mix well in bowl, cover, and refrigerate for an hour or more
Fried chicken breasts, fried eggplant (or aubergine for those who know the English term), and potatoes mashed with yogurt. Yummy! Though I made the portion a tad too big and I am full now.
Half a sandwich and cup of soup. My local Bruegger’s has a deal where you get that and they have it as the same price as the sandwich. But the workers read it as the same price as the soup, so instead of it be $5.99 it’s $3.01. It’s great, nothing like benefitting off people’s mistakes
I took some shredded chicken meat, and mixed it with a sauce made of yogurt and mayo, added shredded lettuce, mixed up. Ate some of it, and then added rice that was boiled with some small pieces of meat, and pineapple from a can. Mixed again.
No Legend Of Five Rings session this week (again) so I am sweetening my day with some mocchi (taro-filled). Later I will have six more with fruit filling.
Lunch today was leftover homemade New England clam chowder, two slices of flax seed sourdough bread from a local bakery, an apple, a tangerine, and a pot of jasmine green tea.
I had to take both kids to the dentist today so I was faced with a choice 1) make their lunches myself; B: Take them to Culver's before taking them to school.
