how important is the deft shootist deed for a pistolero? I figure with distance on my pistol it should be fine without but i have no experience. Any opinions?

nothin?

for ref, deft shootist is a deed you can take as a feat. it requires weapon focus in a firearm. you can reload and fire said firearm without provoking attacks of opportunity.

Silver Crusade

It's as important to a pistolero as Power attack is for a barbarian.

thank you. and by what level would you say this is needed?

PErsonally I think Deft Shootist should be a bonus feat for pistolero the way that Rapid Reload is a bonus feat for musket master

I agree.

Sovereign Court

holy thread necromancy!

...but I disagree

Deft Shootist has Dodge and Mobility as a prereq, on top of "Grit class feature"

Rapid Reload has no additional prereqs beyond "Exotic Weapon Proficiency (firearm)"

Therefore, a gunslinger could qualify for Rapid Reload immediately, but could not qualify for Deft Shootist unless he takes two additional feats.

Consequently, granting Deft Shootist as a bonus feat is just too good. Rapid Reload, however... :)

Well maybe as a bonus feat but not at level 1, perhaps like level 6 or so. Similar to how the Ranger gives out some pretty good feats for free at level 6.
