Last night there was a newbie at the weekly PFS game at my FLGS. When we were chatting, I found out that he's only in town for a while, He and his son have the Basic Box and wanted to try it out. We've got him covered while he's here in North Carolina, but he's not aware of anything "back home" in South Bend, Indiana. We looked at the list of local contacts, but didn't notice any that were reasonably close.

Does anyone know of Pathfinder play in or around South Bend?

Ya this area is kinda dry for pathfinder. There are 2 LGS(not sure about the F part) that i know of the griffon book store and fantasy games, both in south bend. I havent checked personally but from other threads on this forum it doesnt look like there is strong pf presence at either.

I like in elkhart, which is next to south bend and play with some friends and family. Ive checked several websites for local games but most in the "area" are in kalamazo,mi or portage,in both farther than i want to drive.

I would love to find a group to actually get to PC instead of noobishly GMing, but no luck as of yet.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

I run the group that's based out of Lightspeed Hobbies in Portage IN.

South Bend's an hour away for me but if you wanted to talk to one of the venues out there about getting something started up I'd be glad to help out.

Did you miss my PM, Benoc? I'm in Elkhart and also looking to play. I played 3.x a long time, and I really like PF. I'm not particularly repulsive, in person.

The LGSs carry some PF stuff, and it seems to sell, but whatever PFS they tried to start didn't last. I've only been here about a year, so I don't know much about it. I'd be happy to play. I'd even GM if there was no one else to do it. Done that, too.

Thanks, everyone. I'll get this information to him when I see him for part 2 of Crypt of the Everflame.

I'm also in SB & have been looking for a game, preferably PFS.

Sorry Expert wasnt trying to duck you or anything, i had asked my group but we are pretty set on players atm.

Jeremy sent me a pm and if we can get some more players and a location id be up for another game. Im currently in my local game and a new online jade regent game, but i can probably play/run another.

Pfs is something ive wanted to try but pbp isnt my style and online its hard to find a game time that works for me.

If we can get some more ppl and spot to play, im good to play. Being laid off atm i have quite a bit of time on my hands.

Edit* ive thought about the portage idea and kalamazoo even, but with $4 gas its a little far for me.

I may be able to dig up another player. With Doug's friend, Benoc, Expert & myself, that gives us 4 to start, which is pretty good to get rolling. I've got a room with plenty of space for a big table.

I don't have a big table, but I've got dice...

I can fold out a table & pay for snacks. Best group size has always seemed like 3-6 players + GM to me. Doug, your buddy still interested? Vance, still willing to make a few trips out to help get something started? With Benoc & Expert, that'd get us 4 + GM, and once we've got something started, it probably wouldn't take long to pick up 1 or 2 more.

Shadow Lodge

I have been thinking about getting a PFS game going at the Griffon. I would love to play and or take a shot at GMing.

I believe the upstairs game room is open at the Griffon on Friday nights 7PM- midnight.

You would think that with ND in town we would have enough college age kids that would be interested in playing.

I might take the initiative this fall to try to get a monthly game going. Gonna have to find time between the three kids and a wife with a crazy work schedule so may or may not happen.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

I'm definitely interested in helping out but would be limited to weekends unfortunately.

Cheliax ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Lafayette aka Cactus-Jack

I'm out of Lafayette IN, about 2.5 hours or so away. As things develop I could schedule time to come up and help out as needed. However I will be restricted to weekends due to the distance. Also if you have any question about getting PFS started drop me a line. michaelpfsindiana @ yahoo

Still interested. PFS would be fine with me.

Taldor

There is definitely enough interest in the area for PFS play. Both Fantasy Games and The Griffon have open gaming space and would probably love to host some organized play.

On a side note, several local folks (myself included) have organized a RPG day at Fantasy Games on October 13th. Full release below:

Coming October 13: South Bend Games Day, a role playing game event
hosted at Fantasy Games in South Bend, IN

Join us for two sessions of high adventure and gritty action starring
your favorite role playing games. There will be two sessions for games
and four games per session.

Interested GMs can sign up at the South Bend Games Day website or by
emailing Derek: derekas (at) gmail.com

Sign up for interested players will be completed in a similar manner,
after we post the games for official sign up. We’ll do that just as
soon as we have the GMs signed up!

Questions should be addressed on the SBGD website or via email to
Derek. Fantasy Games is not managing this event, so they will be
unable to properly assist you with questions related to the games.

Game masters wishing to run events for Games Day in South Bend,
Indiana should either reply to this post or email: derekas (at) gmail.com

There are two time slots available for games:
1:30pm – 5:30pm
7pm – 11pm

Tables and chairs will be set up for 4-person games. We can likely
accommodate one or two larger games per session. Please contact us for
details.

Interested game masters will need to provide the following information:

1. Time slot desired
2. Game to be played (title of the scenario or just the name of the game)
3. Game system utilized
4. Game publisher
5. Familiarity required (none/rules taught, basic rules
understanding needed, full understanding of the rules and setting
required)
6. Number of players (minimum-maximum)
7. Description of the scenario for potential players (your “ad
copy”), please keep it under 200 words

Sounds like we could do Fridays at the Griffon (or Fantasy Games?) if Friday night works for Vance, Michael and anyone else on the weekend. Otherwise I could host Saturdays.

How about we list manageable time slots, player/GM, and earliest start date available?

Jeremy - Any time Friday or Saturday, or Sunday evenings. Very much prefer to play, willing to occasionally GM to fill in in a pinch. Can start as soon as this weekend.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

Unfortunately I work in Illinois so I can't do week night slots out in South Bend, I'm limited to Weekends.

This Weekend is no good for me but the 15th/16th would be fine.

I'd be glad to GM.

Grand Lodge

I am the President of the University of Notre Dame RPG Club, and we do PFS every Friday night (Go Irish and all that). I guess if you don't mind playin' with a bunch of college people, we're a decent group to play with. We get about 4 tables a week.

Taldor

FYI, there is a FB group for the Michiana area gamers, simply search for Michiana Area Gamers. I'd suggest putting a post in the group to attract some players.

Shadow Lodge

Zean

I would be very interested to jump in on your Friday night PFS games, if you don't mind a 35 yr old married guy that has been playing since 2nd edition.

Do you guys play on or off campus?

Grand Lodge *

Zean I would also like to play if you have a spot open. I'm a 33 year old married lady so I am in the same boat as Amzu :)

Sczarni ****

I'm new to the South Bend/Elkhart area and looking to see if there is any pathfinder play available in the area?

Not enough, apparently. I'd like to play, but I can't host, and I don't want to GM.

Sczarni ****

I would be willing to run PFS sessions. If there would be enough interest, I could arrange to reserve tables at either of the local gaming stores (Fantasy Games or Griffon Bookstore) in South Bend.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

Sounds like we need to get something going.

What weekends would work for you guys?

I'm not as familiar with Fantasy games but I've been to the griffin a few times.

Sczarni ****

I'm pretty much available any weekend, really. The only exception is the 22nd, as I will be GM'ing a session for the PFS play they have up in Kalamazoo.

I can play pretty much any weekend. I'll show up.

Grand Lodge *

I'm good for any weekend as well. I'd prefer the Griffin but I will go to either to play :)

Hi everyone. I'd like to help you all organize in any way that I can. There has been a lot of interest in PFS in South Bend/Elkhart, especially after GenCon. VanceMadrox and Irish202 are really great GMs, and I think they would be wonderful assets in terms of GMing and organizing!

I'd like to see us involved in the October 13th game day. I will see what I can work out.

If you need anything from me, please do not hesitate to contact TracyPFSIndy at a gmail dot come email address!

Sczarni ****

I have some free time today, so I'll swing by Griffin and see what their availability is. If there is availability, how does this Saturday (22nd) at 10AM sound? I don't have to GM in Kalamazoo until 6PM that day, so that would leave me plenty of time to get there.

Also, hey Tracy! I checked the Game Day website, they only have 1 more free slot open for the 7-11 slot. You may want to snag that slot soon, though there is another person is also running a pathfinder game too.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

I will have to check and see about Saturday but will let you know.

I'm perfectly willing to GM.

Of those interested are you new players? If so we may want to run First Steps.

Grand Lodge *

I just went to the Griffon today.

Game room hours

Fridays 7:00 PM to midnight

Saturdays 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM

I'm down for 10 on Saturday. :) I have played once before but bought the Core Rule book today (Got the beginners box at Gen Con) so First Steps is good with me but if other object then I will play whatever is clever.

Silver Crusade ****

Irish came up and visited us in Kalamazoo a week ago, and I think he's GMing for us this weekend.

Sczarni ****

Yup! Daniel, I'm only signed up for the 6PM session up there, so there should be no conflicts to worry about :)

I went ahead and reserved us a table at the Griffin for this Saturday at 10, so its official. I did not think to ask if we could post a sign/something advertising to other players though.

I'll be there. I've played PF, but not PFS. Will we play pregens?

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

As long as I can make it (and still need to fully check on that) I'll bring stuff for character creation, including SOciety $s.

You can always play a Pre-Gen if you want though.

Shadow Lodge

Dang I'm out of town this weekend or would make it to the griffon sat :(....

Please post here if anyone runs PFS at the griffon again!

Sczarni ****

I'll make sure to bring pre-gens with me, or you can make your own character. I can help out with character creation b/f or a/f the session, if needed.

Rob, if there is enough interest, I would like to make this a weekly event. I'll post here later for confirmation and updates as they arise.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

A weekly event would be awesome.

Unfortunately I probably won't make it out more than once a month.

Grand Lodge *

The Hubs and I will be there at 10 :) looking forward to it.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

Ok I should be able to make it though I may be a bit late. With the time difference it means I need to get out the door by 7:30 am local time and it's Saturday so I can't promise that.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

I'll be there but it might be closer to 11 by the time I get there. Don't wait on me to start

Thanks to everyone for a great time. I'll study up on PFS a bit and try to come up with another character. Maybe another cleric. Everybody likes clerics!

Had a ton of fun. Can't wait for the next game. May bring another person with us next time.

Taldor **** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Northwestern Indiana aka VanceMadrox

It was great to meet all of you. You'll be in good hands with Irish as your GM for the next one. I'll see anout coming out for the one after that.

Hey all! Hope the session yesterday was fun. I have scheduled the next session to be October 6th @ 10AM, for First Steps Part 3. Additionally, there will be time available if people want to make their characters as well. Let me know if anyone has questions!

I loved it. Everybody showed up ready for a good time and that's what we had.

I decided to stick with a cleric of Sarenrae, but change a few things around. I like what PF did with the cleric class. I'll try to make sure it conforms to PFS rules.

Shadow Lodge

Crap out of town Oct 6th too!!! Sigh... I hope you guys keep this up I will make it out as soon as I can. As For making new characters I sprung for hero labs right before GenCon and man does it speed things up!

Should we make a SBPFS Facebook page or a shared google callendar email list or something as a way to keep everyone informed of the next session? Or do you think just best to post here to eliminate e need of cross posting?

After I get a few more games under my belt I will be willing to give GMing a try if the PFS at the Griffon starts to grow and we have a need for another GM. (i've always wanted to try GMing)

Silver Crusade ****

@Irish:
If you want to advertise the Oct. 6th session down there on the MichiganPFS.org page, feel free. While technically not Michigan, some of us may want to chance the border patrol and play south of the border. :P

Andoran

I would love to play Pathfinder in the South Bend area! I was looking for a local group months ago and finally gave up. I'd be in for almost anything as long as my schedule allows!
