Sanctioned Modules Questions

I have just run Crypt of the Everflame as GM and I have a pair of questions after reported it.

-How many PP I get for run it? I believe I will gain 4 PP like my players but only 2 appear in my profile. Is this correct? You will credit 2 PP whatever module you GM?

-I think Max Gold is too low (only items in the chronicle without potions and scrolls are worth in 14,200 GP and there is also a pair of +1 weapon). Is mandatory to reduce GP gained if players miss a room?

As a GM, you receive max PP for GMing the scenario. Thanks for taking time to prepare and then run the game or your players!

Sanctioned modules in PFS determine wealth on the WBL curve, not adding all items together and divvying gold up as you would a home game. We've listed the max gold amount on the Chronicle sheet to aid GMs with this so it is one less thing they have to worry about figuring out. If the players miss a room or otherwise skip a treasure, the amount listed of that treasure skipped should be reduced from the max gold rewarded at the end.

Hello,

I'm one of the players who played that game. I do also master some games.

Regarding the gold issue, I just dont understand the way to calculate the gold in a module as in theory the way to do it is to sum up every gold coin+items/2 (sold item value) and then split among the players but this module is far from that amount. If I remember correctly the max gold in a module sheet should be that calculated on a basis of 4 players for an average party level.
Re-reading the chapter 5 step 3 and chapter 7 "Filling out a character sheet" subchapter and step 5 nothing like that is said.
So in any case as I said to Miguel, it is OK for me that result, altough I'd like to know the way that gold is calculated just in case I like to use Pathfinder Society Organized Play (PFSOP from now on) in a house game which is not really PFSOP which a home-made module.

By the way, Miguel, re-reading the PFSOP I fing that a master get partial reward:
- 1 XP
- 50% of the max gold

Alberto, a couple of things:

That reward you posted above is from a now-obsolete version of the PFSOP. Make sure you have v4.1 or v4.2 when it comes out in late July/early August.

GMs get:
1 XP, 2 PP and full gold for running a PFS Scenario.
3 XP, 4 PP and full gold for running a standard Pathfinder module for PFS
1 XP, 1 PP and full gold for running one of the special Free RPG Day modules for PFS.

Scenarios are worth one table credit toward GM star rating.
Modules are worth 2 table's credit toward GM star rating.

So:
Crypt of the Everflame:
GMiong earns 3 XP, 4 PP, full gold for a module appropriate PC, and 2 table's worth of credit toward GM star rating.

Crypt of the Everflame, as a Level 1 Module, can be replayed and re-GMed for full credit for any number of 1st level PCs. You can only earn play credit, and presumably GM credit, once for a 2nd level PC for this module.

For determining gold earned by the PCs involved in playing a module, you look at the maximum GP available for the module, then you add-up the full value of the items that they didn't find/recover during the play of the module. You divide that number (for non-monetary loot) by 2, add the actual monetary loot missed, then divide by the number of PCs that the module was designed to handle, in this case 4 PCs, so you divide the number by 4 to determine how much to lower the final GP earned by the players by.

Ok. Thank you very much for the quick response.

Hello, I haven't run any modules, but I've GM'ed a Free RPG Day Module (We Be Goblins, with a PFS interlude and afterlude stories to connect the Goblin scenario into the Pathfinder Society), according to the guide and to the explanation of Michael, I'm supposed to earn 1 PP and 1 XP, but in the report page, I cannot edit the Prestige Points I've earned, and it gives 2 PP to everyone automatically.

Additionally, a friend of mine run a sanctioned module, and with the clarification here, he is supposed to earn 4 PP and 3 XP, but instead he claims that he has been given 2 PP as a reward.

I believe there is a problem with the reporting system, as it sees every module like just another seasoned scenario.

What's your opinion about it?

For WBG, the players should receive 1 prestige; this can be achieved by putting 1 in the relevant box on the reporting screen. If it shows 2 currently for each player, you should be able to go in and edit the session (assuming you're the event coordinator).

The system will always award a GM 2 prestige for running a scenario or module, even if it should be something else (e.g. 1 or 4). This is a known deficiency in the reporting system which may be fixed at some point in the future; don't try and 'fix' it by putting the GM in as an extra player, or anything like that. Remember that your physical chronicle sheet is the primary record; the online system is just a backup.

Thanks for the explanation :)

This has been very informative. Thank you all for the discussion. It answered all of my questions on running sanctioned modules (so far)

I'm planning on running Crypt of the Everflame at SpoCon this year. I might run something else. But Crypt is just a really good dungeon crawl. Perfect for new players.

This was indeed very informative for me as well. I just ran Feast of Ravenmoor and discovered the society character I applied it to lists only 2 prestige. I had assumed it would be 4PP the same as a player would receive!

Now I know. :)

I have a general question regarding GMing sanctioned modules. I'm a veteran GM and player who is new to PFS play. I want to GM some PFS modules. I GM online at Roll20 in a voice-chat environment. Rather than limit myself to people already signed up on Roll20, I'd like to recruit players here on Paizo. I see there's a great recruitment board for online games, and I intend to use it.

I would like some help choosing the first few modules to run. I'd like to start with a Tier 1-5 or lower. I plan to buy the Paizo PDF download. I'd like to choose something that is likely to draw a good crowd, and I'll probably run it 2-3 times. I'm seeking advice on which one, among the MANY PFS sanctioned modules, I should pick to do first.

I'll almost certainly take the advice of people who respond. The array of choices is boggling. Please advise.

Thanks for your time and attention.
