Anime Character Builds: Luffy, Gaara and Yusuke

Homebrew and House Rules

Okay. I'm sick of hoping that Google will magically give me an answer or even something to work off of. I want your guys' opinions on how I should make a Luffy character, a Gaara/Crocodile character, and a Yusuke character. I already have something of an idea for them, but I need help fleshing them out, such as feats/spells/domains/etc. Right now I'm thinking of Martial Artist combined with the Eldritch Heritage for Abberant Sorcerer (to get the Long Limbs trait) and Lunge feats, as well as the Pliant Gloves, to make Luffy. For the Gaara/Crocodile character, I'm thinking a Wildblooded Deep Earth/Bedrock Sorcerer that focuses on Sand/Earth/Wind/Dehydration (if they exist) spells. The one I'm having the worst problem with is the Yusuke build; my friend had a great plan for him, but it was really complicated and I lost all of the messages that gave me guidance on it. So, yeah, I'm hoping to hear some guidance from you guys if you have any on this matter.

Wizards hook for Crocodile. Its mandatory. Also, make it seething with poison. Magus with desicating touch would be fun and pretty wicked.

Gaara might be a synthesist. Lots of earth moving powers and the power to become a powerful beast. Fluff it as being taken by the sands.

No one can really be Yuseke I don't think. Unless theres a spammable spirit gun equivalent I don't know about. Probably best done with another games mechanics, Pathfinder isn't a big fan of spammable mechanics like that. Psion maybe if your willing to go 3pp.

Interesting...I didn't even think to look at sythesist. After looking at the wizard's hook, I must say that I absolutely love it, so that is now definitely on the list. The spirit gun is honestly the main issue I'm having with Yusuke's character. I want to recreate it without spamming, but I can't even think of anything that would let me do something like it once (except stuff like rays, but f+&* that).

Well thats why I suggested another system or Psionics. Psionics have a power point system that lets them choose how much oomph they put into it, and the characters in the show were refered to as Phychics. While they blast rays, you can just refluff it as cannons. Energy based attacks are usually against reflex or touch anyway.

I was raised on this stuff, I'd certainly hope I have a good suggestion.

Requires a bit of GM Fiat, but a Monk with a Throwing/Returning Amulet of Might Fists might do for Luffy. There's also a 3rd Party Telekinetic Monk that can Flurry at range which could be refluffed, but IMO it's not very good since you can't add Str to damage.

Your idea for Gaara (either of them) sounds solid.

Yusuke could also be done as a Monk. Qinggong to be precise. Swap out Slow Fall or High Jump for Scorching Ray.

At higher levels, it can even be Shotgun!

I know nothing about Psionics except it works off of a point system so it also might be good.

Yusuke as a Monk 1/Sorcerer (Crossblooded Orc/Draconic)9/Dragon Disciple 10 might be neat too.

Breath Weapon reskinned as Shotgun, Ray spells as Spirit Gun, Wings as just a high jump or summat. Been a while since I've seen Yu Yu Hakusho but I don't believe even as a demon he can fly.

Aside from being quite weak (imo), Arcane Blast might actually be a possible match on that.

I mean, it's not as earthshatteringly powerful as it probably should be, but it seems like it's kind of along the right train of thought.

Actually I think anyone with amulet of throwing and returning is Buggy the Clown.

True, it works for both.

For Buggy it doesn't need any reskinning.

Kind of, he uses daggers. If you have an amulet of returning and throwing can you throw your fist to punch them with a dagger?

Lol! No you cannot, as AOMF only works on natural/unarmed attacks. Do note however that you only need throwing on the AOMF. You don't lose anything by throwing an unarmed strike at range, so there is no need for the returning property.

BTW returning makes even less sense on the ammulet than throwing... You throw your fist and then a couple seconds later it 'returns' doing what? Landing at your feet? Do you go leave severed hands wherever you go? What happens when you headbut?

Btw I understand throwing to work like a camels spit attack. He can do it an infinite number of times with no loss of body parts.

That's kind of Buggy's thing though. He literally comes apart and "throws" his body parts (usually his fists with daggers) at people, which then "return" afterwards (if they can). His limbs usually just reattach themselves. The only part that needs to be attached to something is his feet, which have to stay on the ground.

Yes, I remember the anime very well. It only gets complicated if someone catches and bundles up all your parts, but in that case you have the anime to turn to to see the results. If your basing this off the anime anyway. Actually everything I made said was about the anime and not talking about the RAW at all, so just apply that logic to everything and your good!

Its not a far stretch or at all overpowered to let you use light weapons with an AOMF of returning throwing. Not in anyway I know anyway. Touch attacks at worst, but thats not what we're doing.

I want to see a way to do sand burial. I could see a really reflavored pit spell, but I'm not quiet sure.

Me too. I've got to admit, the thing that really made me want to make a Gaara character was watching his fight against Kimimaro. I just want to bury somebody in a s!&$ ton of sand and then crush them.

Custom spell, best I can come up with. Gaara was pretty awesome for a bad guy when I was a kid. Same with Crocodile. Enel... Gosh your making me remember shows from my childhood.

Synthesist summoner would make a pretty good Gaara I think. Just give the synth form a sort of cannon for 2/3 EP or such. Just give him a 2nd/3rd level spell depending on your campaign to pin someone with the earth and crush like a dragons ability or some such. Not too complicated.

I think Psions have a few ways to make several of the Yu Yu hakusho characters if you take a peak at making anyone else.

You know you could have just asked me again.

And I like how this post became Build buggy. Dibs on that one kelly.

For Yusuke try the Soulbolt archetype for the Soulknife if you do go with Psionics. I actually read that archetype and thought immediately how much that could work as Yusuke.
