How to determine if an animal companion is Large[long] or Large[Tall]

How does one know which type of large animal companions are? I know that things like camels and horses are long, but what about an axe beak companion to someone with at least an effective druid level of 4?

It is not specified in the AC stat block but in the bestiary entry it does have a reach of 10ft when large. I would like to think it does but I just wanted to be sure.

There is no difference in Pathfinder, Large creatures take up 4 squares.

well pretty much any animal that is on 4 legs is 'long' but an easy way to look sif they are large and have a reach of 5' thats the first indication they are long.

If it has a reach of 10' in its normal statblock its tall.

Awesome, so with a single casting of Enlarge person (go share spells!), I will have a huge companion with 15ft reach.

Still has a difference between tall and long.

I just use the Bestiary to determine the reach of my animal companion, but usually quadrupeds are "long" and everything else is "tall", even snakes.

I didn't, I am not a druid. I am an Ancient Lorekeeper Nature Oracle which gets to pick arcane spells as bonus spells instead of the ones normally provided. So for my fourth level bonus spell I will pick Enlarge person. I have to cast it as a 2nd level spell, but for the benefit I think it is worth it.

The Growth subdomain also grants Enlarge Person as a Druid spell.
