Those Speedy Halflings

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Dark Archive

So looking over some goodies from the ARG, I spot that Halflings can now rid themselves of slow speed for a mere -2 to Climb and Acrobatics. Is any Halfling not going to be taking this from now on?

I would put the little guys a lot higher as dervish dancers now, especially for the magus class. High dexterity, small size for extra accuracy, and now the same movement speed as anyone else.

Adaptable Luck is also quite amazing. I'm thinking the combination will be quite popular for martial halflings.

How does the overall balance look so far. I'm on the fence about adding this one to the library (once it is on the shelf, it is hard to keep it out of the game without a fight...)

Mostly fine, some flareups though.

It seems equally attractive for non-martial / Caster Halflings as well.
They dont' really have a higher need for Climb and Acrobatics vs. Martials.
And moving (to avoid Casting in Threat Area or just avoid getting beat up in melee) is very useful to them as well.
The wierd thing is that the speed increases MORE than cancels the Acro penalty for purposes of Jumping.
So yeah, unless you want a different Alt Racial Ability than conflicts with this swap, this seems practically an automatic choice, assuming you are playing with Adv Race Guide rules of course.

Anything beyond what they will errata. I still have to beat down "persistent" spell from the APG, for example.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, my halfling cleric character definitely wants this. To heal/buff his allies in battle, he needs to be able to get to them.

I'm on the fence for my roguish halfling. I was planning to use acrobatics a lot to position him for flanks without provoking AoO's, so giving up the +2 Acrobatics kinda sucks. But he can't get into the fight if it takes too long just to get there, so I'll probably just go ahead and take it. I'll just end up relying on high dex and maxed out Acrobatics as a class skill, without the racial bonus, like every other rogue in Golarion.
