If I have an ability that reads, for example...
"Add +1/4 to the eidolon's evolution pool"
...does that mean that I add +1 to the evolution pool per four levels or every forth level?
If the answer is per four levels, then I presume +1 at 1st through 4th level, +2 at 5th through 8th level, etcetera.
If the answer is every four levels, then I presume +1 at 4th level, +2 at 8th level, etcetera.
This type of phrasing comes up a lot in Pathfinder, so could somebody please direct me to where the rules clearly answer this question? It would greatly diminish arguments at my table. Thanks!

Things like this are ALWAYS rounded down unless it also states a minimum.
A level 1 you choose your favored class bonus that gives you a +1/4 eidolon evolution pool. That is all you have for now: 1/4.
At level 2 you choose it again and now have 1/2.
Level 3: 3/4
Level 4: you inexplicably skip choosing this and instead choose to up your hitpoints by 1. You are still stuck at 3/4.
Level 5: you decide to go back to 1/4 eidolon evolution pool. Now you are at +1, enjoy the new evolution pool point.
If this 'ability' is in fact the Racial Favored Class bonus (as I suspect) then the relevant information you need is on APG p9.

Here you go: Advanced races from the APG. Look for the fourth paragraph under "Racial Favored Classes".
Does that help?
