Okay, who was the disembodied devil-looking bad guy next to Ralph at the meeting? I place him as a Final Fantasy (early?) bad guy, but I can't figure out which one. I put all the characters I could identify in the spoiler below.
Showed it to my kids and they're stoked (they recognize the characters since I like to play vintage games, even the updated versions). Yay! Another fun movie to take the kids to!
Really surprised me to see Bowser, since Nintendo is really careful about their Mario "brand."
What was funny was seeing Zangief and M. Bison in the same circle as Kano. That and Zangief's expressions were just hilarious to me for some reason.
My take on the members of the support group (correct me if I'm wrong).
Devil guy I can't identify
Smoke from mortal combat,
Bowser
Zangief
Robotnik/Eggman (which Sonic did YOU play first, it matters which name you remember!)
M. Bison
Clyde from Pac-Man (of Inky, Blinky, Pinky fame)
Yellow robot may be from "Metal Arms, Glitch in the System," but I'm not sure.
Blue Elf (unknown)
Purple Rhino (I remember seeing it, but I can't remember the game)
Some Beholder (Wizardry? Early SSI/TSR game? or could it be a FF Bomb?)
Kano
House of the Dead Zombie

While I enjoy the concept, especially the cameo of Bowser (my all time favorite), I am inclined to think...
Wreck It Ralph - games + fantasy = Shrek
In other words, I worry that it will just be effectively the same thing as the Shrek series with a foul protagonist anti-hero trying to cast aside what assumptions of him are, with plenty of cameos.
At least we won't have to listen to Mike Meyers' grating accent even if it is effectively the same story.

Not EVERY movie can (or has to be) be a deep, psychologically engaging experience. When you dissect someone down so far that you can define it in a single sentence, then yeah, they're all gonna sound the same.
Plus, it's a Disney movie. The primary audience is going to be children, no matter how many throwbacks they pepper it with.

First off the link in the first post no longer works, Here's a repacement
Second, I believe after some searching that the demon guy is Diablo from the games of the same name.

That was my initial thought, but I looked up Diablo, and it didn't match. Closest i've come is Sten from Breath of Fire 2, but it's not a match.
This has been driving me nuts for over a week now!

I couldn't ID him and ruled out Final Fantasy as a result as I'm pretty familiar with the entire series; he has a vague resemblance to Chaos from FF1 but only barely.
Searching around the internet several websites dubbed him Diablo, but I'm not familiar enough with the game to say no myself. I couldn't find any pictures of him with a cloak, though.
