Scrying produces a sensor in an area that sees. Antimagic field doesn't stop you from seeing, hearing, etc. Furthermore, with AMF, you cannot get any benefits from dexterity enhancing items, elixers, magic cloaks, or acquire constant concealment. Essentially, you become a mundane again. Folks have pointed out the many reasons you cannot really use Stealth effectively without magic plenty of times before.

It also does nothing to help you deal with golems or undead. Guarding your lair with golems or undead is basically a sure-fire way to kill someone with a permanent antimagic field. Many have DR that require magic weapons to bypass, or nasty Ex abilities. Some cannot even be stopped without magic.

That's before you get into traps and the like. In a permanent AMF, your armor class is going to hurt badly. Be you Monk or Fighter, your losing out on +10 points worth of enhancements, 5 points of natural armor, 5 points of deflection, some ability score points, etc. In essence, mundane traps can completely rail you in an AMF.

Stuck in a permanent AMF means that you can be dismantled by a bunch of mooks of CR 1/3, with some alchemical items and easily. The big bad wouldn't even need to send his moderate bads, just the minor bads.

You are likely helpless vs swarms.

You are heavily vulnerable to ranged attacks.

You are essentially helpless vs anyone with Fickle Winds and flight.

You lose many class features (including most sorcerer bloodlines).

You cannot even the odds with enemies who are larger than you (like ogres, ettins, trolls, etc).

In essence, AMF is bad, and makes you feel bad.
Nicos wrote:Ashiel wrote:Not really. Antimagic field is more detrimental to your success than not. It's still incredibly easy for spellcasters to ruin someone with antimagic field.

Heres a few;
Twin Form.
have someone like a cohort mind swapped into the second body. you can switch between the two bodys as a free action, "tecenally' have 2 bodys. your ability to be in two places at once would be real funny and powerful. also there is no limit to the ammount of bodies you can create.

Rage.
Having a permanent rage cast onto you (as a fighter or barbarian?) could be really funny, tho the fatigue time if it ever gets dispelled..... well you wont be getting out of bed for a few weeks 8D

Iron body.
This one I really wanted to try sometime. Just the thought of it screams SWEET!

Ride the Lightning.
Being able to blitz all over the place whenever you want (as a standard action, tho wonder about quicken spell? probably wont work). would make for a real fun char, but really? overpowered

Rusting grasp.
this on a tendori monk just screams funny. destroy anything you catch!

I thought there was a regenerate spell that healed you constantly every round until you were at full hp but I cant remember the name... if that didnt end at full hp, lulz ensures.

Aura of the unremarkable.
This is just a real funny rp spell. great for incognito chars.

Hostile Juxtaposition.
if you could constantly change the target, or select a target until changed. makes for interesting tactics. needs a bit of tweaking to make it work tho

Transformation.
using this with a alchemist built for melee would be interesting. gotta try that sometime actually...

Also isnt there a spell that makes you sneeze fireballs that knock opponents back?
well there is some ideas to run with. Have fun!
hmmm.... Heres a few;
