Is Psionics Expanded: Advanced Psionics Guide finished / done / finalized ?

Compatible Products from Other Publishers

I've just checked Psionics Expanded: Advanced Psionics Guide and it's still a work-in-progress. However, when Psionics Expanded: Hidden Intentions came out, it was labeled as the 6th entry of the 6-booklet series, a.k.a. the last one, and it got added to Expanded soon after.

Since all 6 booklets are regrouped into one, does this mean that Psionics Expanded: Hidden Intentions is finished, or is there still more material to be added ?

The series of six booklets is completed, but Dreamscarred is still compiling them into the big Psionics Expanded book.

And after that, IIRC, they are going to merge Psionics Unleased and Psionics Expanded into one huge super book of mental might.

So... since I already have Psionics Unleashed, is it okay for me to buy Expanded now, or should I wait a little while longer ?

The individual files are finished. If you pre-ordered Psionics: Expanded, they they are each available for free in .pdf format. There are still archtypes, powers and equipment being playtested that Jeremy plans to include in the final version, but these are complete for the most part. He hopes to have the complete Psionics: Expanded ready by GenCon.

While the information in here is correct, let me expand a little bit. :)

Officially, the serialized portion of the Psionics Expanded project is done, meaning you will not see any additional small releases. We are actively working on taking all six releases and putting them together into one massive PDF (around 190 pages at the moment).

As we put that book together, we've identified some gaps in the book that need to be filled in so that we feel it's "complete."

This is why I've been posting additional material for playtest - to fill in gaps - primarily archetypes for the new psionic classes.

That supplemental material is likely going to be released as a free web enhancement, because it's all reliant on other pieces of the release, rather than standalone new material, and it wouldn't make sense to release as an additional ~5 page product. But for folks who bought just the individual PDFs, we don't want them to feel like they missed out.

My expectation is the final big PDF will be done in July. Considering how much work there is still yet to do, I think that's a reasonable goal. Then hopefully the printed version will be ready in time for GenCon.

So, will there be a separate print version of "Expanded" to accompany the print version of "Unleashed", or will there only be a print version of the combined tome?

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

The printed version for GenCon will be just Psionics Expanded by itself. The combined book won't be until next year.

Is there something going to appear in the combined tome that will not be included in either of the two books separately? Would be bummed if I already have Unleashed, pick up Expanded, and then there's something exclusive to the combo.

Publisher, Dreamscarred Press

I can't make any guarantees there, as we have not officially started on the combined book. I'd say probably artwork, but I'm not sure that's what you're talking about. ;)

That being said, we try to do it fair all the way around, so anything "bonus" we try to release in a fashion that everyone can access without having to buy another book if they don't want it.

It's a pet peeve of mine; especially since I'm really into music and there's the standard edition, the limited edition, the japanese edition, the remastered edition, etc. It gets to a point where I just start throwing out half a peace sign and take the business elsewhere.

Updated artwork, I've no big compunction on it. But if there's new exclusive crunch after all is said and bought, then I confess a bit of grumbling. I realize it's the way capitalism works at times.

"For GenCon" - does this mean it won't be available to a non-attendee?

Let me be clear - if there's new crunch that gets included, there is a 99% likelihood there will be some way for people to get it who bought the individual books. We don't like to penalize the early adopters. The problem is that we can't retroactively modify printed books ;) So while it may not be in THAT book, there should be a way for you to get access to it - whether that's a web enhancement, some small PDF, or whatever.

Brian - no. It means we want to have it available in time to be at our distributor's booth at GenCon. It will be released everywhere our books are normally carried.
