Cant wait for this. Hopefully they fix the existing vampire glitchs such as thieves hood and Face burns.

Also hoping if you are an existing vampire its an easy transition too the new vampire species. I plan on having my imperial/werewolf fight for the Dawnguards while my vampire fights on the vampire side.

This means the PC release will likely be around September or October.

crosses fingers for a bug-free expansion just in time for Halloween

I hope it fixes the Whiterun bug. I can't go to Whiterun anymore or the game will crash to desktop.

Does this happen only with fast travel or even if your character just walks into Whiterun?

inb4 'One does not simply walk into Whiterun.'

I had similar problems with New Vegas after installing Old World Blues. The solution was to create a new save, delete the old save and all autosaves, and then restart. It was annoying, but that band-aid worked every time.

It happens no matter how I approach Whiterun. It's a well-known and documented bug that has no fix as of yet.

Christ, I've yet to finish any major questline. I want to see everything, but I want to see it all with different characters, and I always find myself getting horribly bored at the low levels of the elder scrolls series. It's a vicious cycle.

What would you describe as the "must see" stuff for my playthrough before this expansion comes out?

I've surprised myself by unlocking almost every achievement (still need to play through the mage guild stuff and learn all 20 dragon shouts), because in Oblivion I never touched the main quest, and only dabbled in the various affiliations. I mostly ran around fighting bandits and exploring Ayleid ruins and painstakingly decorating my homes with telekinesis. ^_^;;

As for must-see stuff...all of it! Uh, that's unhelpful, I guess. I would say you should play through at least one of the questlines to completion. I thought the thieves' guild and Dark Brotherhood ones were the most awesome, though the Dark Brotherhood stuff is extraordinarily brutal, IMO. If you're playing someone who would never join the Brotherhood, wipe 'em out! I love that there is an actual option to fight back against the evil organization for once. I thought the Civil War stuff was way too easy and was over too quickly, though it was a neat premise, and I just never really clicked with the Companions, though I know some folks love 'em. There are some reallyreally fun parts in the main quest, like infiltrating a fancy party, visiting the otherworldly Blackreach Depths, and a bunch of other stuff.

I am incredibly stoked for this expansion, but I don't know who I'm going to turn into a vampire. I've already run my main character through every Daedric quest and less-than-entirely-Good-aligned organization; I don't think I need to maim his poor blackened little soul any further. Maybe I'll make that caster I've been putting off.

So happy about vampiric perks! I'm gonna be turning into bat swarms all over the place, at the slightest provcation. "You never should have come here!" Bat swarm. "It's a fine day with you around." Bat swarm. "Let me guess: someone stole your sweetroll." BAT SWARM. Twice.

I just wish the game had more (read: any) options. Like, if I decide that I don't want to join the Companions (which they tell me is perfectly fine. They do pretend to give me a choice)? The only option you have is to just leave, and ignore the 'join the companions' quest in your quest log. You can't tell them to go stuff themselves. You can't betray their secret to someone. You can't even politely decline (despite them politely asking you if you're sure you want to join). Your only options are "YES PLEASE HURRAY!" or "Sure, uh, gimme a minute, I'll be right back!"

Spoiler:

Especially bad when your good friends, The Blades, suddenly turn psychotic after you kill Alduin, and decides to send you on Really Dumb Quest(tm). Sure, you can just Not Do It(tm), but then you can never talk to Delphine or Esben ever again, since their only dialogue will be "Hai! Did you do that Really Dumb Thing yet? No? Well, see you when it's done then!" Where's my option to tell them to take a long walk off a short pier? :(

It also bothers me that, if you're a completionist like me, you end up as the leader of practically every faction in the known world. AND that the game obviously isn't aware of this.

things i'm hoping they change with DLC

remove black burnt spots
Being attacked at level 4 vampire (rumors are that this was fixed)
Make it so that your race still refers to you as member of that race. Argonians now call vampire argonians "land striders", etc.

some othe NPCS such as Delvin in the Thieves guild makes a comment that you are members of the guild and darkbrotherhood and one of the Brotherhood says the same about the companions.

Places/quests i would recomend

Dark brotherhood/thieves guild-If you like building up sneaky style.
Dragon mask locations are usually fun.
high level Daedric quests are very twisted-Ebony blade, Boethiah (spelling) etc.

Companions quest was so so and i only used it as a stepping stone for my spellblades.

Mage school-Very rewarding at later levels and some of that may be very helpful to both sides in Dawnguard.

Whens this supposed to come out?
