I was looking for something akin to Mazzanoble's 'Confessions of a Part-time Sorceress' but for a younger audience. More specifically a twelve year old girl.

Anyone seen anything of the sort?

It may not be a book, but you may find some useful pages at this website.

How about the Buffy The Vampire Slayer RPG? It's based on a fairly simple rules system and isn't as gloomy/bloody as most RPGs.

If that isn't appropriate (and not having ever been a twelve year old girl I really can't tell :P ) then just look around for rules light systems such as FATE, GURPS and other Unisystem Games. Wikipedia is your friend in this ;)

I just started role playing free form with my 9 year old daughter. She is hooked now.

My goombers started RPGs when they were six.

We played D&D, RQ, TOON, etc.

It was less about the game than having a bunch of supportive, interested adults around.
