Dawn of the Scarlet Sun PFS Chronicle Sheet

So I ran this last night online for the Collective, and I need help figuring out the gold on the chronicle sheet. If I'm adding up the items/gold found in the mod, I'm getting 23940 gp worth in the mod. Since they let Avalexi go, she disappeared with 10680 gp worth. 23940 is a lot for a mod of this level, which makes me think I did something wrong. But if I assume what I did is correct, 23940-10680=13260/6=2210 which would mean they lose 42 gold for not defeating Avalexi? That seems really off... Could someone please confirm if I've done this correctly?

(I guess I've just been spoiled by PFS Scenarios writing "Award the players XXX gp..." after each encounter)

Wealth in Pathfinder Modules does not follow the same formula as it does in Pathfinder Society Scenarios. Reduce the gold earned from the listed total possible to determine how much below the maximum a PC gets in a Module.

That cannot be correct, not when given both your earlier calculation, and the fact that giving the chronicle to a new PC gives them 500 GP.

You forgot to divide the sale value by 2 as well as 6, since it is cost, not price, which determines treasure value.

Including the value of the 4 potions not given, it wind up reducing the reward per PC by 1140, ignoring them, then the reduction goes down to 890 gp.

As a side comment, from the module conclusion text, the chronicle has an incorrect reward trigger for access to the scimitar/buckler/ioun stone choice, since the chronicle says on Avalexi's death, but the module specifies on capture and set on path of redemption for Zadendi...

According to the module, Avalexi's death is only worth 4 potions of Cure Serious Wounds...

I'm going to be running this as a PFS game tomorrow night, and I had a couple questions:

Tactics:

If Avalexi can use Suggestion through her servant that bears her profane gift (as it says in the Bestiary), then she would probably want to use it after Zadendi is ambushed. If so, how would she do so? What kind of action is it? It also occurs to me that perhaps the suggestion is intended for the barer of the profane gift. Does anyone have clarification for this?

Chronicle:

GMs have told me that players can get a free item from the list if they slay Avalexi, but the Chronicle states:

If you slay Avelexi, you may choose one of the following items to be included on your Chronicle sheet. Choose this item when you receive the Chronicle sheet and cross off the other items.

There are gold piece values listed for each item, so it seems that it only gives you access to purchase the item, not that you get it for free. In the module, it says if you redeem Zadendi then you get an item for free. Not only are the conditions different, but it seems the reward may be too. Thoughts?

Tactics: The use of suggestion would still be a standard action and might even be detectable through Spellcraft by anyone who can see Avalexi.

Chronicle: The Chronicle sheet is what one uses for Pathfinder Society Organized Play. The module's notes about receiving a free item are for those who wish to use the module outside of the organized play structure. This is the case for positive boons for all sanctioned modules and Adventure Paths.

Thanks for the quick response John, but I think I did not communicate my questions properly:

Tactics:

In the ambush scene, the only NPCs who are physically present are Zadendi and the Scarlet Son. Since Avalexi can communicate with Zadendi telepathically over any distance (because of the profane gift) she would be aware of the ambush. Can Avelexi use her suggestion SLA on the PCs through Zadendi? The Bestiary entry for succubus suggests this is possible. It is also possible that the intention of profane gift is to be able to use suggestion only on the barer of the profane gift (in this case, Zadendi) over the telepathic link, as Avelexi does not have line of sight or effect.

Chronicle:

I know what a chronicle is. As stated, I'm running this as a PFS game. My question is in regard to the "free" item that other GMs have said players can get.

If they players manage to slay Avalexi, do they get:
1) A single free item from the list on the chronicle sheet.
2) Access to a single item from the list on the chronicle sheet, but have to spend the gold as usual.
3) Other.

"...and may use her suggestion spell-like ability through it." I take to mean through the profane gift, allowing her to suggestion the gift recipient and no one else.

Chronicle:

I did not intend to suggest that you didn't know about Chronicle sheets already so much as emphasize that the Chronicle sheet is the go-to authority for what is PFS legal as the final reward in a sanctioned work. As a result, #2 is my answer.

Thank you again for the clarification; some other GMs were advertising it as a free item. I didn't doubt them because the requirements were rather difficult. Though my players will be disappointed... oh well!
