One of my players has told me that if you GM then play a scenario then you only get a GM sheet. (Not including the first steps scenarios. And two different characters )

The only thing i can find in the guide is on pg 16

• If you have already played a scenario and wish to replay
it for any reason, you must inform the GM that you
have already played the scenario. Some GMs may not
be comfortable running an adventure for players who
have foreknowledge of what is to come. If your GM is
not comfortable with you replaying a scenario, you
must find another GM who is. GMs have the right to
deny players the opportunity to replay a scenario for
any reason, but all GMs are encouraged to be as flexible
as possible when replay is the only option that allows
them to seat the minimum legal number of players at
a game table.
• If you spoil the plot for the table, the GM has the right
to ask you to leave the table and is under no obligation
to award you a Chronicle sheet. Be very careful about
character knowledge versus player knowledge. If you’re
concerned about possibly spoiling something during
the course of play, take the GM aside and ask how she
would like it handled. Remember: the goal of replay is
to make sure fun gaming happens, not to remove the
fun from gaming

You should get one Chronicle Sheet for both playing and GMing a scenario, in either order.

So you can play after you GM and should receive credit normally (although you still can't apply both Chronicle Sheets for the same scenario to the same character). Of course, you should consider the rules you quoted. It's often less interesting to play when you know the plot, and it typically also means that you need to limit your social interaction with the other PCs in order not to spoil it to the other players.

I concur with Jussi.

What they said.

I've come to find that when I GM first and then play a scenario afterwards, it's fun in a DIFFERENT way. Yes, it definitely feels awkward playing a scenario you've GMed, but if you play differently, it can still be lots of fun.

When this happens, I'm more of an observer but I roleplay just as much, don't partake in any big decisions (unless there is character/story involved, potentially leading them to the wrong decision), and sit back and enjoy the other players/GM and the scenario more (like a 3rd party viewer). There's less stress and you're basically just along for the ride. It's definitely different, but it's still enjoyable.

Catprog,

You seem to have somehow missed the paragraph directly above the ones you quoted:

Quote:
You cannot receive more than 1 player Chronicle and 1 GM Chronicle for the same scenario, regardless of how many times you GM or play the scenario. You are free to replay a scenario in order to meet the minimum legal table size (see Chapter 7), but once you have reached that limit, you do not earn any additional rewards beyond having a good time.

had a situation recently where I was able to assist the GM in understanding a class / archtype hed never seen before and was unsure on how to handle it

and 1st steps is a Unique situation as it falls under the Tier 1 Scenario Rule

There is one exception to these rules: All Tier 1

scenarios and Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules are available
for unlimited replay with a 1st-level character for credit.
The sanctioned modules can also be played with a 2nd-
level character once for credit. You may continue to
replay the sanctioned modules with 1st-level characters
after playing through them with a 2nd-level character.
GMs can receive another Chronicle sheet each time they
run one of the Tier 1 scenarios or Tier 1–2 sanctioned
modules. No character can ever have two of the same
Chronicle—the Chronicle must be applied to a different
character each time.

Basically ... First steps 1-3, Master of the Fallen Fortress, We Be Goblins, Crypt of the everflame and the Godsmouth Herasy are the only ones Currently that fall into this (I am 99% Sure standard Tier 1-5 at subtier 1-2 do NOT count)

I am 100% sure you are correct about the last. A tier 1 scenario is distinct from a tier 1-5 scenario played at level 1.

Yes, tier 1 scenarios and modules can be played or run for credit more than once, but never more than once per character.

And don't forget that this only applies to level one characters. In the modules, even if you can play them with level two characters, you can only play them for credit a single time with a level two character.

I only said 99% because Someone ... Somewhere ... in the Coordinator staff ... may see that post and go ... "wait ... thats not what I intended"

in a Multi-verse of infinite Realities ... and Probably one not to far from our own ..... this happened

and I was told that WAY back in the Days of Season 0 ... Tier 1-5 did Count ... (tho I havent had the motivation to check up on it)

I understand your motivations, but the interpretation you posted was correct. :)
