I actually read ahead on the light novel that the series is based on, and found some of the clues in the novel were left out of the anime, making the twist rather unexpected in the anime.

Rokka no Yuusha promises to be the best 2015 anime for me! =)

Well... I'll just say that this: Don't count on the series being predictable. If the anime follows the light novel (which it has so far), you will love at least the first 3 seasons immensely. And quite likely all the subsequent seasons too. =)

Um... any list that recommends Death Note has lost ALL credibility with me. Freehold DM's hate for Whedon pales in comparison to my hate for THAT anime. Seriously if this had been my first anime I would never have watched any more anime ever.

I find that funny as the flow chart mocks the series with the selection directly below it.
the selection for Death note/ crime drama is "Lets start with popular stuff."
Where as immediately below it is the suggestion for Monster under the selection of "...good crime drama"
though I notice a few on that chart I haven't tried yet so I'll have to take a look into them.

Yeah, it is fun when there's little jokes like that scattered about.
Speaking of Nyaruko, though, there's a blog that tried to catch all the references in the show, and it's amazing how many you're probably going to miss on a normal watch-through. XD I'm actually kind of impressed by how many references to things they managed to cram in while still telling a mostly-coherent story.

At this point I just hope there is another season, seen far too many shows I like not actually finish out their story. If there is another season or three I'm sure I will enjoy them as much as I'm enjoying this one.

The shows premise was absurd.
The shows characters didn't stay in character. The shows situations were ridiculous.
The shows writing was on a third grade level.
There were NO like able characters.
And it's popularity in spite of all that is infuriating.

On an unrelated note, be careful of what is in any anime category, some times things that are put in there take a reach that even Mr. Fantastic couldn't pull off. Snow White With the Red Hair is somehow listed under 'Action/Adventure[/i] on Hulu+ and Chaika: Coffin Princess got put into 'Romance'.
I routinely see Madoka put into dark and edgy and think: my god, half the people looking at this category would laugh at that... and they would be wrong.

Overlord continues to be a lot of fun.
Today we got an episode focusing on the vampire Sheltear Bloodfallen, who has been tasked by Lord Ainz to capture a high level magic user or warrior. While slaughtering bandits she happens upon a small band of adventurers.
Don't you just hate when a simple Bandit hunt turns out to be a high level vampire.

In summary:
"My numbers are bigger than your numbers."
That said, I greatly enjoyed this episode of Overlord. Shalltear is easily my favorite character thus far, and an episode largely centered on her was quite nice, even if she DID get very... uh... frightening.
what got me was the total breakdown of her normally cool personality. She became all hunger. Pure Kill, Eat, You're Cute save you for dessert, slaughter, death, Dessert time!!
A vampire in full bloodlust mode just revelling in the carnage.
And that Blood collecting orb of hers is just neat

After Actually, I Am's pool episode, I am more convinced than ever that Nagisa is actually the universe-lost child of Souske and Kaname from Full Metal Panic! She acts EXACTLY like I imagine someone raised by those two would, and she's even a mecha pilot when you get technical. Must have been one of those whispered experiments that made her into a Lilliputian alien.

Well, I think they still need to produce more of the original story, which I'm pretty sure is an ongoing manga. Sadly, that takes time, and cliffhangers are usually just motivation to go buy the original series in Japan in order to find out what happens next... XD;
I'd give good odds to publishers picking up and publishing the manga, though. So there's that.

Came across a fun comic today called Dungeon Meshi (AKA: Dining in Dungeons).
Group of cash strapped adventurers enter a dungeon determined to live off the land as it were, by eating the monsters they kill, on their quest to retrieve the body of their lead's sister (who has been eaten by a dragon) before it is completely digested. (Cause Raise Dead don't work on Poop)

This is Star Fleet, but not as any U.S.-based "Trekkie" would know it...
The dubbed ED music had some interesting folks working on it.
Of course, it wasn't really a rogue Paramount Studios/Roddenberry spin-off- it was actually a Go Nagai project known as X-Bomber (which got "Sabanfied" as Star Fleet).
P.S. As a bonus, the Jp OP version.

And we'll probably never see her again, considering the show is almost over, she hardly ever shows up in the manga and I don't have much hope for a second season.
A quick look at the shows available on any anime streaming service shows that the harem genre shows get multiple seasons fairly easily.
Grey Lensman |
It depends on the series, really. XD A lot of them never get a second season - usually the ones based on visual novels. Manga or LN-based series are somewhat more likely to get multiple seasons, since the extra advertising and disc sales is usually something they want.
True. Many anime now seem to be advertising/additional revenue for the manga/light novel series. If the series ends, it's a much better bet that the anime will end too. For the fans of Monster Musume, I think that one is still ongoing, so it isn't time to worry yet.
I brought up the harem genre specifically because a quick scan of multiple season shows seems to tilt very heavily in that direction.

A quick sidebar, is that actually a genre classification on Crunchyroll? I ask because I access the service via my Wii U so I can watch it on my TV, but the interface is different, and I don't seem to have things like "search by genre" or "random," among others.

That's a tokusatsu show, not anime.
Heh, figured that with the puppets looking vaguely Leiji Mastumoto-ish, it would be, as in the immortal final (paraphrased) words of Homer Simpson in that Dimension-Hopping episode, "close enough".
Of course, when folks think of tokusatsu, they tend to envision more along the lines of this and that.
Or...
It could be time for another round of the "Non-Fanservicey Hand Giveth" and the "Fan-Servicey Hand Taketh Away"... ;)
The Non-Fanservicey Hand Giveth: The Daughter of 20 Faces; from Orphan to Action-Girl, Gentlemen Rogues and their Entourage, a lesser-known Bones production.
The Fan-Servicey Hand Taketh Away: Bikini Warriors... When you just gotta have your rpgs situations mixed with bikinis. NSFW, but the episodes are short enough to peek at, in-between Boss supervision (do this at your own peril).

I have a feeling that her habit of showing up when a near-death experience happens will help her have a bit more presence than that. But I most certainly would like to see another season. I'm more concerned that there isn't enough manga material to support it yet.

Outpacing the manga has never been a problem for anime programs. See the first versions of Record of Lodoss War, Hellsing, and Fullmetal Alchemist.
