An expanded zombie CR chart? (for zombies above and beyond 28hd)

Not something I'm intending to do at the moment, but something I'd like to know: Is there an expansion on the zombie CR by hd chart in Bestiary 1? The highest it goes up to is CR 9 at 25 - 28hd, but it doesn't say anywhere that you can't go beyond that.

The most extreme example I can think of is a zombie Mu Spore, which is a 41hd beastie. How does one calculate CR for that (or indeed for the majority of colossal zombies)?

...Skeletons need their chart expanded as well. It only goes to CR 8 and 20hd, but a skeletal Tarrasque (I know, it's a silly idea, but still possible) is a 40hd monster.


Bumping this, as I'd still like to know...


While I don't know of any chart that goes higher than what we see in Bestiary 1, there appears to be some sort of pattern in the way the HD chart scales. We have three entries that cover one number of HD, Four that cover a range of two HD, and four entries that cover a range of four HD. So we can guess that the HD chart will either have one more entry with a range of four HD (29-32 HD) or that all of the entries come in clusters of four like groups and the the developers did not bother with an entry for anything lower than half HD because of how pathetic such a Zombie would be. Which means that your next range would probably double again to have four entries that cover a range of eight HD each. (29-36, 37-44, etc.). Once that has been determined, it would be easy to scale everything else up for whatever Zombie you want to make.

We also see a similar potential pattern in the Skeleton chart, which would require a similar judgment call to expand it.


Actually it seems to be five that cover a range of 2hd. Though perhaps one could make the pattern 3 covering a range of 1, 5 covering a range of 2, 7 covering a range of 4, and so on...

That last one only covers the Mu Spore and Tempest behemoth as far as I know, and I don't think there are any official monsters that can get hd beyond that when zombified.


Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that your players are in for a rough night?


Heh heh... Well, for now the only zombie I'm using is a fast zombie quickwood, at CR 6. They can't really handle the high end of the chart yet.
