Sub-Zero monk / ninja build advice

Advice

So for a campaign I'm going to be running with some friends, I wanted to make a character based off of Sub-Zero from mortal Kombat (cheesy I know :D).

I was thinking that I would take my first two levels as a monk with the Master of many styles archetype. From there I could take Dragon Style and Dragon Ferocity. Then at 3rd level I'd be able to select Elemental fists (cold) as another ability to use. From 3rd level on I'd go straight ninja.

Once I hit level 13 I could take Marid style to add more elemental damage.

I'm curious if anyone has any feat/other suggestions that would suit this character theme, while at the same time being viable?

"Get over here!" ... Scorpion was better!

I kid I kid.

//"Get over here!" ... Scorpion was better!//

actually knowing my GM, he'll probably create a skeleton ninja as an archenemy of mine (probably an assassin that I killed early on in my career whose seeking revenge).

quiggong monk taking scorching ray and houseruling it to do cold damage?

Marid Style
Marid Spirit
Marid Coldsnap

Are you using any 3.5 stuff? Sacred Fist would help with your goal. Cleric levels with water domain has access to Icicle as a granted power and then eventually be able to cast Cone of Cold. Add the Marid feat line you have one cold themed dude.

Eldritch heritage could also be very effective.

This is an awesome idea and I support it. 45ur4 - good calls.

EDIT: Just don't go into Mr. Freeze territory and start making awful ice related puns. :)

Ok, after looking through the material, I think I'm going to stay away from the ninja class and go straight monk for this build. We'll be playing till about level 12 so that's my end goal.

So after some looking about here's what I'm thinking. The Master of Many Styles archetype, Hungry ghost archetype, and Quigong archetype. Now I think that these three archetypes can work together (correct me if I'm wrong).

Level 1:
-Dragon Style
-punishing kick (replaces stunning fist)
-two weapon fighting

Level 2:
-Dragon Ferocity

Level 3:
-Eldirict Heritage (So that I can make all energy types cold)

Level 4:
- replace slow fall with scorching ray (and make it a freezing ray)

Level 5:
- Elemental Fists
- Steal Ki (to help power my quinggong monk abilities)
- barkskin (replaces high jump)

Level 6:
- Marid Style

Level 7:
- Life Funnel

Level 8:
-
Level 9:
- Marid Spirit

Level 10:
- Marid coldsnap

Level 11:
-Life from stone

Level 12:
- dragons breath (replaces abundant step)

Ok, so In the end I do end up giving up quite a bit, but I think for flavor and style this is a pretty cool build. I'm still have a few feats that I'd need to figure out, but by 12th level I could:

- cone of cold damage (via dragons breath)
- Scorching ray damage (that's counted as cold damage)
- Elemental fists that go up in damage as I level
- Have a 10ft reach when I use Marid Spirit.
- Can fuse Dragons style and Marid lines together

Now this probably isn't the most uber powerful monk around, but he should be able to hold his own, and with the hungry ghost, I can replenish my ki as the battle wears on.

please let me know any thoughts/comments/or problems that you see with this build.

Shadow Lodge

i would go waves oracle/monk (maneuver master or MMoMS), you get frost armor, a cold touch attack, and access to cold descriptor spells. obscuring mist, chill touch, cone of cold (depending on the build). it could be the closest interpretation of that character you can get.

i just remembered that waves oracle gets a baleful polymorph once per day, you could get a some gm lovin to have that turn them into ice lol.

I like the build, you will have to tell us how it plays out for you.

Sub-Zero > Scorpion

I hope your build will succeed! :)

He needs improved trip and power attack, at least the way I played him.

I'll definitely have to pick up power attack at some point, probably level 7, but I don't think I'll need improved trip, since I have access to punishing kick which seems even better in many respects.

you can only use 1 archetype isn't that right?

You can use as many archetypes as you want as long as two or more of them do not require you to give up the same class feature.
