Well looks like I screwed something up. Oh well.

Mwahahahahahaha...

Downloaded and sitting down with a cold beer to start familiarizing myself with the first few sections.

Life is gooooooood.

What did you screw up? Are you having DL issues or did you finally get in and are not seeing what you pledged for?

The former: Some comps (work comps in particular) will not let you connect to the secured site.

The latter: The email said that not all of the files would be available for DL today, maybe if you are missing something it could still be coming down the line in the future?

Reading my gravestone, I've decided that I was pretty damn confident that someone would come along to raise me...

...and that when they did, I'd be too damn lazy to actually out of my coffin.

Sounds like my alarm clock.

I intended to have a different name in the book on a tombstone. It didn't make it. No biggy.

Thanks Frogs for the PDFs, they are a nice taste of the pie.

Now I'm even more excited for the book to arrive...

Will there be another e-mail from the Frogs when the other PDF's (Cyclopean Deeps, Bestiary, etc.) arrive?

I've been trying to download the libram (color s&w version) and the GM screen but keep getting "a drawing error occurred". Does that mean anything to anyone?

I did not look at the GM screen until just now. I was busy printing the PDF and reading the forward, etc. Getting organized in general.

I really like the DM screen and I can't wait for my opportunity to use it.

Will the exclusive modules/levels (backer level $250) only be included in the print version? I didn't see a dl for e.g. 7B. O.o

Shadow Lodge

End - Yup, it's print-only.

The layout of the cross-section makes me wonder what the poster will look like, and if it will be double-sided (top half on one side, bottom half on the other), or a completely different animal the the cross-section in the book.

I'm enjoying the player guide. The in character background information is a really nice approach, in my view.

Still no luck with the dm screen (which doesn't really matter) or the libram (which kind of does). Don't know if it's just me, but I still get "a drawing error occurred" with both of them. :(

Anyone know when I can buy this? I missed out on being a backer.

Shadow Lodge

They'll sell them at the Frog God Games website pretty soon, I imagine, and most likely through Paizo as well. You probably won't be able to get some of the bonus stuff, though. I know you definately won't be able to buy a copy of Level 7B...at least until someone puts one up for bid on eBay or the like.

Cool, thanks Kthulhu. I looked around on the FFG website yesterday and couldn't find anything.

Click on Products, then find the link for Rappan Athuk.

Wow, botched my perception check on that one. Thanks again.

I had a similar issue when testing the downloads. I discovered that I didn't have the correct version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. I upgraded to Adobe 10 and it was fine. After that though Chuck had Rachel change the version of Adobe to something that tablets can use. It should have been fixed, so I don't know why you are having a similar problem. What version of adobe acrobat are you using?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber

I had a mild issue for one of the downloads (the Player's Guide, I think) that said it couldn't display the "dominican" font.

I downloaded that font, and don't seem to get that warning anymore, but one of the developer's names still seems obscured. But there are no other issues that I've seen yet.

Same here.

@Dark Sasha,

I have noticed that there are several illustrations that do not display when using Preview on Mac OS X and the iPad. For example, in the S&W version, art is missing on pages 156, 391, & 404 as well as the pre-gen characters on pages 436-440.

Since I have Adobe Acrobat, I was able to create a workaround to get this art to show up on my iPad. Others with an iPad may need an updated pdf.

I also have problems with downloading the GM screen... "Drawing error" or something... and I already have adobe reader newest version with all the updates. I do not know what to do

but thanks to the frogs for all the rest, of course! :)

I don't know. I'm using a windows machine from about four years ago. (if adobe isn't updating itself, it isn't updating). Thanks for the help, I'll try downloading a fresh, hopefully updated, version.

Layout and Design, Frog God Games

Another workaround is to download Adobe Reader for the iPad. :)

They've updated it since the start (and it was abysmal, to say the least) and it's right on par with Good Reader at the moment.

Well, Chuck, that does indeed work! Thanks, I downloaded awhile back and didn't like it; however, it now seems to have improved.

I was at the 50 dollar tier and I haven't received the password or download yet. Is this anyone else's experience?

I know I've seen the question come up, but I don't recall where or if it was answered. So...

Where in Golarion would you place Rappan Athuk?

@hellacious huni, if it is a RA subscription, there is no download yet.

@Death Knight Wolfthulhu, Rappan Athuk is not in Golarion unless you put it in there; later, Frog God Games is going to release a campaign setting which includes Rappan Athuk, Tsar, & Bard's Gate i.e the NecroWorld setting.

I would place it in the center of Absalom. Give those guys something fun to play with.

But truthfully when I was running a Necroworld adventure I put the Forest of Hope in the southern part of the Sanos Forest. For Reme I used Magnimar. For Bards Gate i just added it in between Magnimar and Wartle, and I used Sandpoint as Fairhill.

Uh... yeah. I know it's not canon.

I was actually asking where other DMs would place RA in their Golarion based campaigns...

I'd put it in Geb.

Thanks, Zarathos! I was seeing a bunch of people talking about downloads and I thought I had been left out.

Nirmathas could also work. The coastal area encounters could just be along the shores of Lake Encarthan. The dark spooky center of the Fangwood could be a fitting location for Rappan Athuk.

It might be a little overplayed, but I would put it in Varisia and have it be another Thassilonian ruin.

Rumormill: the Pathfinder version of the infamous Dungeon of Graves spotted at GenCon.

So is this correct? Anyone at Gencon can buy this first and all the people who supported the kickstarter get it later after them? Seems fair. They already have our money so why not. This has taught me a good life lesson. Never ever support another kickstarter. I feel like an idiot. I can't be the only person who feels like this.

Pathfinder Deluxe Comics Subscriber; Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Card Game, Maps, Modules, Tales Subscriber

The kickstarter price is much cheaper, plus you get a whole bunch of exclusive content.

There are lots of differing factors - not just getting it early. If you wanted it early you could perhaps* have gone to GenCon, missed out on the additional bits and pieces from the kickstarter and paid extra.

There isnt always a "best of all possible worlds" option.

*I'm not actually sure whether you can buy it there or if there are just a few copies floating around..

Don't worry internet Eyeore, it'll all work out okay!

Besides it's Gen Con...the place to get exclusive stuff early. Lumping FGG in with no-show kickstarters is...odd. But, to each their own I 'spose. Supporting kickstarter projects isnt for everyone, and no sense doing it if you constantly feel burned.

I seem to remember a slew of free extras that we're giving Kickstarter supporters that people who buy a copy at GenCon don't get.

Let's see for 100 bucks you get...

PDF of "Bill's 100 Lines", wallpaper artwork of Rappan Athuk Cover Art, special tribute illustration, Name in Book, Player's Guide w/ PDF, PDF of pre-generated characters, PDF of Libram Happenstance Windfall Parchments, Orcus Decal, Orcus Button, PDF of Rappan Athuk (Both versions), Hardcover of Rappan Athuk, Book of Maps, PDF versions of the "Cyclopean Deeps" bonus modules 1 & 2, D20 Digital Mapset, Hero Lab Data files and The Windfall PDF, PDF of GM Screen, PDF of Bestiary, and poster of the cross section.

However, I would like to humbly apologize that you feel burned by this because a few people at GenCon may get a copy, sans the extras, a week before you do.

Pathfinder Comics Subscriber; Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Tales Subscriber

To be fair if you contribute to the cash flow required to produce a thing, and then you are not on the front of the queue for that thing I can understand being a little put out. The kickstarter was incredible value no doubt, but don't underestimate the value of getting the book in hand before anyone else.

I personally don't care about this myself in this case, but I can understand the feelings of Pathfinderfan64. I can also understand that FGG would have been stupid to miss the Gencon sales. But some Customer expectation management may have not gone astray in this case.

To be fair to us, we've been talking about a GenCon release for the Pathfinder version of Rappan Athuk for some time now.

I understand he feels put out, I'm genuinely sorry that he feels put out, but that doesn't mean he's been burned or cheated in any way.

Also, books were printed and sent to Paizo to fulfill an order obligation, they have also been sent to Bill for shipment this week as well. Participants in our Kickstarter are still "among the first beholders of the epic Rappan Athuk".

Again, I understand some disgruntlement, it still doesn't call for condemnation of the company.

Editing, Frog God Games

Please note that it would be a temporal impossibility for the kickstarter supporters for Rappan Athuk to be the first to get Rappan Athuk; as it was in fact published before, twice. Granted it wasn't as large as this particular addition, and certainly not done in two different game systems. In fact, due to the extra time we took to check the Swords & Wizardry version, we were unable to get that out to GenCon. Frankly, we would have liked to have both versions available for purchase there, but it was just not doable with the time and resources we had at our disposal. I've been assured from Chuck that the S&W version is indeed at the printers now. The biggest delay has been the dice, which we are still waiting to recieve.

I want to make it clear, however, that the purpose of this kickstarter was never for the pledge supporters to be the first to get this book. In fact I am 100% certain it was to "help to fuel the production of Rappan Athuk for both the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game system and the Swords & Wizardry rules." Because "we hope to be able to raise enough funds to distribute this book to brick and mortar game stores!" It is a shame that some misunderstood this statement.

I personally have contributed to several kickstarters, some more than 9 months ago, and I have yet to receive the hard copies. In some cases the products promised have not even been completed yet. You see, that is the purpose of most kickstarters, to fund the production of the game. I am pretty proud of the fact that we are delivering on a promise sooner than most. Waiting on delivery of kickstarters is an exercise in patience, this I know.

Hey Frogs, not to nit pick, but I found a small error in my PDF. Pages 203 and 211 have the same map. The map for that level is down on pg 213. However, on the pulse side nothing's missing.

Pathfinder Comics Subscriber; Pathfinder Adventure Path, Modules, Tales Subscriber

No arguments from me, I'm happy with my massive kick starter swag bag (I'm in for $350). But I think you have identified the issue, some people misunderstand what Kickstarter backing entitles them to, it's cash flow to allow something that would not otherwise be made to be made, it's not a pre-order. I have seen similar confusion amongst others, just saying it can't hurt to make it a little clearer.

Seriously? If you're pledged into the kickstarter then you're well-aware of how tight a timeline all of this has had. You're also well-aware that FGG is a tiny little company. You know that shipping hundreds of books, along with a variety of different extras that nobody else can get - some of which may not actually EXIST yet - takes a huge amount of manpower.

And yet.

You still think that it's reasonable to ask this small company to forgo selling any of what they've got at the biggest Con of the year, so that nobody else can put fingerprint stains on a book before you can?

As long as nothing stupid happens - such as selling our copies at GenCon and making us wait for a reprint - all is very, very fair in my eyes.

PathfinderFan64 wrote:

You know, you DID get access to the content of the book before anyone else (with the PDFs we got just before the con), so you're not even right on that count...

So, yeah, i think you ARE actually the only person who feels that way :)

So, moving on...

On the Rumors table, some rumors give descriptions for why they're true/false/partially-so and others even reference areas/sections, while others don't. Obviously some rumors don't need this, but I'm curious about why those that might merit it sometimes get references, and others don't. For example, rumors 20 vs. 32.

While on the topic of rumors, my favorite is 21. LOL

And one of the facts of business:

The more you sell, the more you are able to invest in more products.
And I want more Froggie products!

Personally, I did not join the Kickstarter to be "first," so to speak; I did it because I knew RA was going to be awesome, and I was lured by the huge number of shiny extras included. I'm sure the vast majority of backers feel the same way.

Also, if I read correctly, Chuck is saying that they're mailing out backer copies within a week from now? *Goes to set up a tent beside the mailbox*

Chaotic_Blues wrote:

There's also an issue of the Bookmarks not "nesting" properly for Levels 6 through 10C in the PF version.

Mine looks like:

+Levels 1 through 5B
++Level 1: (title)
++-Level 1-1: (area)
++-Level 1-2: (area)
etc As would be expected

-Levels 6 through 10C Does not expand for the individual Levels
+Level 6: (title)
++Level 6A: (title) Other Levels are listed as sub- to Level 6, which isn't correct.
++-Level 6A-1
++Level 6B: (title)
++Level 7: (title)
etc
+-Level 6-1 Here is where areas for Level 6 are listed in the Bookmarks
+-Level 6-2
etc

I thought this would be important to mention since Level 6 is crucial to the structure of the Dungeon. This is only a Bookmark issue, and is not reflected in the actual pages of the book. The S&W version does not have this issue.

I'm sure Chuck will deal with this with is customary alacrity, so thank you, Frogs!
