The other thing to bear in mind here - as several people have pointed out, Traveller are selling an entire game, Frog God just one darn adventure. That means that for Bill and Co, this is something that can be repeated again and again. I know I'll be happy to sign up to another FG product in a few months, just as soon as my bank manager - who also happens to be my sister-in-law, so I don't want to upset her - recovers, so let's see which rpg company has raised most funding on Kickstarter this time next year.

Lord, I hope FGG doesn't do TOO many Kickstarters....my wallet can't handle much more than 1/year.

Frog God Games

What? 6 a year too much, then?

;)

I will hitchhike to Washington to strangle you, Chuck!

I have to hitchhike because I can't afford gas anymore after Rappan Athuk.

While I would happily pay for half your costs to go strangle Chuck, you're aiming for the wrong coast....lol

Doesn't really matter, before the hitchhiking begins I would have to swim across the Atlantic.

Rest assured that I'm the LAST person who wants these big projects to happen more than once or twice a year. <grin>

We have NOT given up the fight. Among all the points Skeeter made I would like to point out one very large point he over looked: Traveller's total includes shipping prices. So if you conservatively assume only $15 a person that's an extra $20K to their total. Our total does not include shipping as we hope to get you the lowest price possible. We have contacted several stores and are hoping for some of them to become backers. This fight isn't over. If you want to ask your FLGS to pledge we would appreciate it!

Shadow Lodge

One though...has Lisa given Bill a call? I know that Paizo bought fairly decent number of the Slumbering Tsar Saga tomes...I can only imagine that Paizo will likewise purchase a fair amount of Rappan Athuk books. And if she were to do so as part of the Kickstarter....

It would be a sure way to make him print more books.

Frog God Games

Not giving up yet--Mark's double your order thing really produced results--and he has shipping priced in too (we don't), and frankly twice as many backers--I don't want any of you to get in trouble by overspending (any more than you have)--but we should focus on getting new folks in.If we do lose the title in the end, its to a fantastic guy w/ a great product.

I just realized that we are making a bestiary (2 versions), 3 modules (2 versions), Pregens (2 versions), a battle mat, map folio, a DM screen, dice, a players guide and a subscription for more...wow

This is not just an adventure, its a system. For example, the $250 pledge is getting 6 softcover books, a mat and a screen to go with a 500-600 page book. Then 6 more levels and hardcover compendium of added levels over the next year for $50 (if that goes well; I'll keep doing add on updates). The updates come from my home game and convention games.

I hope all of you have as much fun playing this as I have-truly I am humbled by the response--this book is, and always has been, my personal baby.

I just got done creating a few new monsters for one of the chapters--cannot wait for feedback on the new stuff:)

You and me both, brother!!!

But yeah, that is a lot of stuff!

Frog God Games

We are actually not making anything expensive for some time (per user survey)

Is there any public discussion anywhere re:the upcoming S&W reprint kickstarter and the possible pledges?

Great stuff on your recent Kickstarter update, Bill. You make me want to believe that maybe we can actually pull this off. All who do not have Slumbering Tsar must increase their pledge now.

Frog God Games

not yet Steve--we gota finish this one first--I can tell you the SW kickstart is much cheaper:)

Bill Webb wrote:

No worries. I'm hoping for some cool collector-focussed pledges. It will be nice to not have to fast talk my way through the credit card statement, though. (I picked a bad fortnight to switch banks - the "expected outlays next fortnight" form was a little awkward). :p

Scarab Sages

Okay, how do I get a second subscription for S&W. I figure one of my RA books will be S&W, so I would like a subscription to go with it.

Thanks Frogs I am so looking forward to all this...

And I hope to pick my books up again in August.

As a $325 pledger ($250 + subscription + Black Monastery) this is making me even more excited for the eventual unboxing of all the goods!

By the end of this I'll have all the headlining Necro/FrogGod products!

New Rappan Athuk set
Tome of Horrors Complete
Slumbering Tsar
Black Monastery

I think my book shelf might cave-in under the weight. >_>

I have those bottom three books (one of each of the Tome of Horrors editons-Unlimited and Limited) on the bottom shelf of my bookshelf. If I put them anywhere else, the shelves "would" buckle.

And I have multiple copies of RA coming on top of it, where the heck am I going to put them?

Spoiler:
And no, I'm not going to give them away, so don't ask. :P

Shem wrote:

I used the "manage your pledge" button and just increased the amount by fifty bucks, leaving the pledge level unchanged.

We're nearly there with $197,975!!! WOW! It's almost time for a Frog God celebration party! Maybe take the pledge up to $225,000 so we can all go to Disneyworld!

When this is over I was hoping to sleep for a month but sadly for me the craziness starts all over again with S&W Kickstarter. A Frog's work is never truly done...

Unfortunately I have spent quite a bit of money on this Kickstarter plus the other 4 or 5 I am currently in in addition to the other FGG books and Paizo stuff I buy so I will most likely have to skip the next Kickstarter if it happens when this one ends.

I think others might be in the same boat. Back to back Kickstarters are a bad idea IMO. I want to support it as I have all of the S&W stuff to date but its just to quick after the money I have sank in stuff lately.

I think it is for a deluxe version of the Complete Rules. But I may be wrong.

Holy crap guys, we broke $200k

Wow.

You guys have no idea how stunned we are by the awesome show of support.

Just.....thanks

SG

Can we hit 205?

As mentioned on the kickstarter those players guide at 8$ make great christmas gift.

Dark Archive

I'm gutted to have to do this but I've had to reduce my pledge due to a sudden Real Life opportunity (moving to a new place). If Traveller5 ends up beating us on the goal line by $150 or less, that'll be on me. :(

BK is correct. I believe that one won't be up till this fall.

There will be some nice strech goals for this one, but it won't be nearly as pricey as Rappan Athuk.

Sword and Wizardry players know that it takes far fewer words and pages for the rules. We should have some nice art for this one! I can't wait to see it.

The more I play and run S&W the more I like it. For the nostalgic or those who want to try out the truely old school feel of DnD from the 70's, S&W brings back that game. There are others out there, but IMO this is by far the best written version. I am biased of course, now that I've met the writer in person. Matt Finch is a gentleman, possibly even beating Greg Vaughan. But don't tell Greg that. :-)

Looks like we can make the 800 backers goal.
I have my doubts about the 1000, though...

This having been said, now that we broke $200k, what about a new $250k goal?

Average pledge value $265, what an enormous testament to Frog God, the team and the products. I am so glad to be supporting the latest iteration of a company that began with that free download of Wizard's Amulet. I remember thinking when I bought the first Rappan Athuk module, 'Great product, but there's no way they're going to last long enough to get to volume three, bet I'm going to be disappointed again.'

Thrilled that I would have lost that bet.

Is it possible to pledge with Paypal?

No need to apologize!

As a fellow fan, anything that you can contribute - even if it's $5 - is appreciated!

Amazon Payments only I believe; ready to be corrected if not.

I'm really trying to justify upping my pledge to the $250... I know it's a ton of stuff, but it's the finances aspect more than the value. It's totally worth the price.

I may just have to suck it up and do it...

And hey, that would offset Ravenmantle's reduction!

I feel like at this point, it might be okay to refrain. Traveller is currently ahead by a good bit but you have to remember something:

We are all already winners. At this point the struggle for highest funded RPG is a sportsmanly competition. Both 'teams' have already accomplished their goals beyond imagining.

We 'won' when the project was actually funded and we are getting a product we wouldn't have otherwise. In addition, for those who pledged higher amounts ,an AMAZING amount of extra content is coming out of the pipe. Come August a great deal of people are going to open delivery boxes filled to the brim with awesome Rappan Athuk content.

I'ts hard to express the joy of victory when we are still competing. But take a second guys: CONGRATULATIONS WE DID IT AND THEN SOME! =D

Argh i keep forgetting about shipping.

my poor wallet ... between Rappan Athak hardcover and Slumbering Tsar alone that's gonna be one heavy package!

Oh, I wouldn't be doing it for the competition - I'd be doing it for all the extra stuff!

Jam-

Dont know if its a moral or logistical reason you dont want to go through amazon, but its quite easy to set up an account, and much of this stuff being offered at the pledge levels will not be available later. Just an FYI...

Hi Skeeter,
It's logistical. I've got a Paypal credit card that I would have put it on. My budget is pretty tight right now, so the ability to spread the payment out is key. Also, nothing moral against Amazon, I shop with them pretty frequently. Thanks for the info though.

We are more than gracious for the support everyone has shown! Bill & I continue to try and get stores to pledge as well so we can still maintain the record but please do not feel bad if real life has effective your pledge. This isn't meant to break our fans but excite our fans. So thank you everyone -- no matter what your pledge level is -- we appreciate you!

As for the S&W KS it is starting this summer and is meant to open the eyes to some of our new supporter for RA who are not familiar with the rule set. We will have some nice incentives and some lower prices than retail on this kickstarter but it will not be the craziness that Rappan Athuk is. Also the plan is to get funding to get this book put into the faux-leather cover and into brick & mortar stores. Therefore, you should be able to purchase the book in retail stores this fall (especially for those who need a little break from the kickstarter).

As a bonus goal if we hit the mark we will add art to the S&W Monster book along with more monsters. As a high bonus goal we will contract Erol Otus to do the art.

Actually if someone less Blonde than me wants to start a new post about it then I can comment on it with all the info.

Either way. There is a thread about Rappan Athuk Level 7B in the Paizocon message boards with some character info.

I will be providing lots of 6th level pregens, as I just got the finished level from Bill, and I assume you're all going to die. Its classic Bill Webb (Lots of death, lots of treasure, lots of horrible death...lots of treasure,oh, and a really horrible death....)
