Group Build for PFS

Advice

Dark Archive

So, the gaming group I play with, decided to put factions into a hat, and whichever faction was pulled, would be what the new characters we would make would belong to.
The Cheliax faction was pulled, and so the group delved ahead with what I like to call "Operation Sith."

The ideal build for the five of us will be idealistically the same. We each will take one level of Oracle, for the Bones mystery, our curse would be tongues celestial. After that we will multi-class into separatist clerics of Asmodeous. The main Domain would be Fire, the separatist domain would be Scalykind: Saurion.
This being because Asmodeous is having a revival based around Undeadish Clerics with Dinosaurs.

Basic idea is Humans, with the breakdown below
Level as follows
1: Bone Oracle: 1st Feat Shield Wall: 2nd Feat Imp Channel
2: Separatist Cleric of Asmodeous
7: Boon Companion for big Dinosaurs!

Seeing as this is the advice forum, what's your question, exactly? Are you asking what a good idea to go from there is? Critique on your existing idea? Wondering if this is PFS legal?

And out of curiosity... why dinosaurs? Just "because?"

Dark Archive

Well. Dinosaurs get large at 7th level, and sort of yes, Legality, and well, advice on if people see this as a feasible thing. I dont understand Oracles, and haven't seen anything yet that fast and hard deity choices reflect oracles. So it's a jumble of things.

Dark Archive

So you guys all want to be the same class? You do realize that PFS requires many different skill challenges and ability challenges, right?

By all means, theme your characters together, but I don't think it's a good idea to make your characters identical.

Separatist reduces your non-deity domain's powers by 2 I believe. Your druid level at cleric 6 will only be 1. (6-2-3) Boon companion will bring it up to 5.

Dark Archive

I'm not seeing where you get the extra -3 from Mergy?

Dark Archive

Separatist would take until level 6, so 4 yes for the animal companion, but than the raw for Saurion is:
Dinosaur Companion (Ex): At 4th level, you gain the service of an animal companion. Your effective druid level for this animal companion is equal to your cleric level –2. You may choose any dinosaur as your companion.
There is effectively only a -2 for cleric level, it just takes longer to get it correct?

Dark Archive

Sorry, made a mistake. I assumed you were going from the animal domain.

Okay, so at cleric 6 you would have a level 2 companion. Boon companion would bring you up to druid-equivalent 6, so one more level for large companion.

Separatist + Saurion is a net -4.

Dark Archive

I thought that the -2's didnt stack ontop of each other, basically the separatist made me operate at -2 levels, to delay getting the companion, and then Saurion's is just you operate at your cleric level -2 total.
So in a sense one makes you be 6th level to obtain it, and then the thing that was obtained says hey you use cleric level -2 for the results.

Thus it's only effective negative two. But if its negative 4, then 8th will be the fun level.

The basic idea is to have a large dino critter for each, two trex's, and a few chargers, and a tripper.
Thus the need for advice to make sure it's capable of working.

Not really worried about the level up, as 5 clerics channeling negative energy to heal themselves and harm everything else should get us through until we get companions.

Also Mergy.
We will have people taking different domains like trickery to be able to get bluffs up. The idea is to go to a table and represent one faction, to complete one faction goal, one faction mission. Thus negating the infighting we have experienced at some PFS events in the area.

I know you said a full party of humans.. but I have this picture of 5 players going to a con. They all play halflings who then look to 'recruit' a big dumb guy to stand behind.. ;)

But then maybe that's just recalling the old 'halfling' tables from Dyvers in LG.

The minuses definitely stack. I also think you'll be suffering from a great deal of arcane buff withdrawal, as well as missing out on knowledge and disable device.

Clerics don't get many skill points. Make sure one of you knows how to unlock doors and disable devices (that's come up in at least one Cheliax mission); make sure that you have your knowledge skills covered (as that will come up as faction missions on occasion), and keep in mind that you guys will need alternate ways to fly.

Well,
Sister Honesty, is going trickery domain.
Brother Freedom is going devil domain.
Brother Trogdor is going fire domain.
Brother Water is going fire domain.
Brother Arcane is going divine domain.

Trying to keep a good spread of whats offered. ^_^
Each one will cover different area's with their expertise. I think it will be amusing to see it go.

Travel domain!

Also, for future reference, Potions of Fly are cheap enough to be purchased with 2PA. Packing a couple of those is something I'd recommend for just about every character out there.

Technically if he was a 1 oracle and 6 cleric (total level 7 character when he is getting boon companion) at level 7 his companion would be his cleric level (6) -2, then -2 for seperatist. So the effective druid level is 2. Boon gives +5 so it should add up to +7 again making it large like he thought.

They do stack, but the Saurian ability is only cleric level -2. So it should work.

Boon gives +4, doesn't it?

Dark Archive

Boon is 4 I believe. The negative penalties where all I was having issue with on their stacking.
