I am pretty excited to be playing in this campaign, particularly as I am pretty much always the GM for my gaming groups. So, given the rare opportunity to actually be a player, I am going all in. As such, I've started a campaign journal for my character, Kaiden Varn.
Apologies that some of the entries, including this first one, might run a bit long. The truth is, this journal is serving 2 masters:
1. I'm just finding it really fun to get into this character's head and writing from his perspective. Hopefully that comes across.
2. I love to write, but sadly, have done very little of it in the years since I graduated from college with my English degree. I'm hoping that these journals get those juices flowing again, and get me back into practice.
I'll update this thread when I add an entry for those who are interested but don't regularly check the campaign journals forum.
This catches me up on our group's progress. Our next session is tomorrow night! Unfortunately, the player who is Melia will not be able to make it. Hopefully our group makes it through down a crew member!
Oh, and for those who are interested, our party is thus:
Kaiden Varn: Male Human Bard (Besmara's Hand*/Seasinger)
Indranna: Female Daemon-spawn Tiefling Alchemist (Chirurgeon/Vivisectionist)
Braahm: Male Half-elf Ranger (Trophy Hunter)
Melia: Male Elf Diviner (Planning to multiclass as Musketeer Gunslinger)
*Dawnflower Dervish reflavored to fit Besmara. See Kaiden's profile for more details.
I had to go a week without running a game. Seeing a familiar dream pop up in your story does my heart a world of good.
Yeah, we are gonna miss two weeks while I'm visiting family in California so I feel your pain.
I'm definitely using the dreams and the clock as you've imagined them. They may confront Harrigan in the fort in part 5 but he will escape to the wormwood, desperate. I envision a final chase through a stormy straight and a battle in a massive whirlpool where they figure out how to destroy the clock and send Harrigan and the Wormwood to Davy Jones' Locker.
I changed Lyle Godwin's pet Rotgut to a Gibbon since there's already a foul-mouthed parrot in the game. I also had Lyle killed by an imp sent to spy on the party to add some intrigue to the time at Rickety's. More hints at Chelish involvement. Was it Harrigan? Or did it come off that Chelish Galleon Peggsworthy was sailing?
I am so glad to have someone like you ahead of me sabedoriaclark. That session summary was really amazing.
Flattering. We're just having fun playing - and I'm borrowing your ideas too. :D
I'm greatly enjoying reading the ideas you two (and others) have suggested for inclusion in this AP. What with one thing and another it will be some time before the group I'm GM-ing gets as far into the story as you have, but I fully intend to incorporate most of your excellent modifications as our adventure progesses.
Although I've been playing and running RPGs for a long while this is the first time I have relied so much on pre-printed materials, and your suggestions as to how things can be tweaked or modified are most helpful.
