Any luck from Missus Turin's advice so far?

We've got a few leads.

Good luck man. Been there, it sucks.

Don't like it? Have a rant...

Wow...I should have never let this go this long.

???

I made a promise earlier in the thread to at least post in this thread once a day.

Meh life gets busy and we enjoy the rants when we get them. How goes the house hunting?

Step Two: Find a place, is going fairly well. We've found a few options but they are obviously not without their problems. The one that has the least problems is the one that is obviously the most expensive. We're going to try and look at one more place before we make a decision as time is our enemy.

That will bring me to Step Three: Transfer stuff to new place.

Update: I have been approved for a new place and now I just have to wait until I can get the keys to start Step Three.

Update: Moving will occur this Saturday and I will not have any disruption with my internet services.

Huzzah!

Realize that this means a rant about moving is anticipated forthwith. ;)

Update: Step Three begins tonight, with the bulk of it happening tomorrow. Then it's on to Step Four: Clean up old place and Step Five: Begin Unpacking.

Oh yeah moving is a [expletive deleted]!

I'm tempted to compose a rant about people who spend an inordinate amount of time repeatedly expounding on how upset they are that other people get so easily upset... but I'm afraid this may cause one of those pesky "divide by zero" errors that Uncle Xanxost warned me about. Still, I am tempted.

GASP, I finally got internets again.

Dark Archive

I can't believe my work has been preventing me from actually getting here to rant or even look at the rants. Darn that work if they didnt pay my salary I would tell them to go to hell.

Hope everyone is doing well have a great weekend to all.

Ok after a grueling weekend of moving and then dealing with a problem with getting my Internet setup I am back. As a special treat I will begin working on a three part rant on moving. Time of delivery TBD but in the realm of soon and will be posted as they are completed. There has been too much time without a rant and I thought I'd make a triumphant return with a bang.

Liberty's Edge

ok I'm reading through the backlog

Huzzah for more rants

Also huzzah a Gark sighting

Rant incoming!!

Welcome back rant fans! This is a special edition three part rant about moving. Why is this rant in three parts? Who gives a (expletive deleted), you are getting three rants. This first part will talk about packing for a move. Packing appears to be simple, you just put your (expletive deleted) into a box and you are done. That is until you realize that you have accumulated an extensive amount of (expletive deleted) since you first moved in. I have several dozen boxes all labeled “nerd stuff” that has for the most part been sitting in my old place for about three years (mostly old 3.5 (expletive deleted)). This doesn't even account for the furniture or other accouterments you have. Now the idea of doing things 1. Cheap, 2. Quickly and 3. With the least amount of work follows the old adage of “Here’s three things, you can have two”. I wish I could say to those people “Go (expletive deleted) yourself” but they are true. See you can pack and move everything yourself but you will likely either not be able to do it quickly or it will be labor intensive. You can have movers pack and move your stuff but it won’t be cheap. Basically it (expletive deleted) sucks to move and I don’t recommend it to anyone if you can help it. Another aspect of the packing part is deciding “what to pack?” Two things come into account here and that is having enough space for all your stuff and being able to transport it all in the fewest trips possible. Now fortunately for me I only moved across this small town, but I couldn't possibly imagine having to move across the country in multiple trips. Seriously, if I did have to move across country I would just pay the expense to have people move and say (expletive deleted) it. In the end, no matter how good your ability is to pack or sort out what you are not going to take with you, you’ll still end up moving a bunch of (expletive deleted) that you either never plan on using or are just going to stuff in some convenient place to be used absolutely (expletive deleted) never but will always tell yourself that “I may need that someday”. Honestly, you never know how much (expletive deleted) a person can accumulate until you are asked to help them move. After reading this series of rants, my hope is that you will think twice before agreeing to help your friend move and seriously consider different compensation when you ask your friends to help you move. Part one over.

Tune in next time when I continue with Part Two of this (expletive deleted) exciting three part series.

New rant has been posted.

After moving recently lugging all my stuff 2 hours in one trip to put into storage and then after finding a house moving it all again, we decided a tip run was in order... (There's just not enough room in this new place for all our stuff) on the chopping block was our 30 odd year old baby change table (Heavy as [Expletive Deleted] [Expletive Deleted] but a family heirloom of sorts on my wife's side). I enlisted the help of a friend silly enough to own a ute (He'd also helped me move and I had previously helped him move.)

As we are breaking up the change table he asks "Are you really throwing this out after I helped move it?" to which I responded "Did you really give that piano away?

Long story short... Moving sucks! Thanks for the rant JMD031

note: Pianos should be built into houses... they should never be moved especially if your driveway resembles Mount Everest...

Going to start work on Part 2.

Wow, I haven't posted in this thread in almost a week. That's not very good of me.

Lantern Lodge

Short but simple, to the point. I give it four stars.

I had an idea for a tooth piano where you wired your teeth up to a sound chip and the gaps were the black notes and the teeth were the white notes and you could play tunes on your teeth and then the butane fumes wore off.

Gotta stop huffing paint and other inhalants-that-were-not-originally-inhalants, such as butane. ;)

Rant Incoming!!!!

Welcome back for Part 2 of this exciting 3 part series. This part of the rant is about moving stuff from one place to the next. A big part of this rant is going to be about stairs. I (expletive deleted) hate stairs in regards to moving your (expletive deleted). Seriously, why are these things automated yet? It’s bad enough I have a metric (expletive deleted) ton of stuff to move but now I have to move this (expletive deleted) stuff up and down stairs. When I moved last month, I had a metric (expletive deleted) stuff in my basement. Fortunately for me, most of this stuff ended up in my garage. But all of the bedrooms are on the second floor…so all of the bedroom stuff had to go up a flight of (expletive deleted) stairs. By the time I was done moving all of my stuff, keeping in mind I did it all in one (expletive deleted) day, I was so (expletive deleted) tired that I could barely lift my arms and was pretty much out like a light as soon as I hit my pillow. The next morning I was (expletive deleted) sore as (expletive deleted) because apparently I’m not as young as I used to be, (expletive deleted) time. Anyways, so back to stairs, these are the most diabolic thing known to our legs. I mean, sure they are convenient but not when I’m carrying several pounds of stuff that weighs about as much as a small dog and is all (expletive deleted) boxy and generally just difficult to handle. I know what some of you are thinking “why are you (expletive deleted) about stairs?” Because I (expletive deleted) can that’s why. I mean seriously, if I can write a (expletive deleted) rant about “Pushy Monkey Kings” I can complain about (expletive deleted) anything. You know what, (expletive deleted) this. Rant over.

Tune in next time for the exciting conclusion to this three part rant. Or don’t, see if I (expletive deleted) care.

Man, [redacted] stairs in general.

I give this a 4/5. It was not quite ranty enough, though there was a good expletive deletion frequency. Also, moving (expletive deleted).
